Visiting Barleys was my first trip into downtown Columbus. The environment was nice, the food was OK, and the beers were pretty good. I was satisfied, but I was hardly blown away by my experience here.

Ambience was nice...it has a nice bar feel to it that is neither scummy/divey nor snobby while making everyone feel at home.

The first thing I noticed was that the clientele was mostly female, which I think was driven by an event downtown, and not by my other hypothesis (that this is the first lesbian brewpub ever!).

I'd read in other reviews that the beers are approachable. I noticed this immediately when I sipped the 4 Seas DIPA. DIPAs (and everything else Double/Imperial) aren't supposed to be approachable! For a brewpub, this place seemed to have a lot of choices of beer, including some guest taps.

Food menu had some higher priced items than I expected. I wasn't that impressed with my fish & chips, but I wasn't much in the mood for food, so I wouldn't take too much from that.

Service was adequate but hardly beer savvy.

If this is the best brewpub in Columbus, I am a shade disappointed, but not dissatisfied with my visit. I'd go back, but because of adequacy in all departments rather than excellence in beer or any other specific area.

This place looks like it has been around since the 90s's. I assume that's the case. It's right next to the convention center and I assume the hockey arena is nearby as well, so it was quite busy when I was there. Lots of Coors Light drinkers. Lots. The one beer I had was very tasty and the food was way above average. (Thanks to my host for the recommendation.) A worthy visit, though seems stuck in the past on decor.

Great spot if you're at convention center you can just walk across street and get a good beer and sandwich instead of convention food. They're in entertainment book so cheap price w on line /smart phone coupon

This has been one of my go-to breweries since I got into craft beer a few years ago. Their beer is above average compared to most of the breweries in the area, but rarely anything that will "knock your socks off".. they always have a couple good options and there's always something for even the most novice beer drinker. The food is always excellent and service is great. If they are brewing, you can request to go down and talk to the brewers. Nice view of the brewery (in basement) from the bar area as well.
