Appearance: 1 inch head, hazy, light yellow in color, high carbonation

Smell: grain and slight lemon

Taste: malty, grain, bread, and slight lemon

Mouthfeel: sweet with slight bitter end, light bodied with high carbonation

Overall: A nice and clean sessionable lager. Not the most complex beer, but a good one. I have had better in the style, but would not turn this down.

Poured into a sampler cup as part of a Sly Fox tasting at Bierkraft in Brooklyn. This was the first beer I tasted.

A--True to its name, this is was golden, almost like freshly pressed and filtered apple juice. Nearly yellow. White fizzy head left a little rim in the tiny cup.

S--This probably was due in part to the receptacle, but still, not much there in the way of either malt or noble hops. Maybe some faint grassiness.

T--Very clean, with bright notes of crystal malt with a spicy (Saaz?) bitterness behind it. A clarified, well lagered beer. Absolutely no detectable off-notes just pure fresh goodness. This one was first off the gun in terms of tasting, which is a tough spot to occupy, and shined.

M&D--Both are quite good. Mouthfeel is spritzy and crisp, very scrubbing and refreshing. Drinkability is perfect for a warm day or a day when you just want to kick back.

Perfect session beer if you're in the mood for a fresh German style lager.

Sly Fox- Helles Golden Lager

A- Bright golden yellow with a small soapy foamy head. Clear and nice bubbly carbonation.
S- Light crisp lemony bready malt with fresh cut grassy hops.
T- Sweet lemon/ honey touched crusty bready malt nice sweet earthy fresh grassy hop finish.
M- Lightly sweet and malty with a nice transition into a earthy mildly dry hoppiness.

Overall- Delicious and quenching. This 1 is a must to try if you visit the Brewpubs.

Many thanks to woodychandler for providing this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can, and I am not really felling this cup/can design. Has a golden color with a 1 inch head. Smell is mild, a bit of malts. Taste is crisp, malts, some hops, refreshing and easy drinking. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a good session beer.

A - A voluminous cascading pour gives way to an audibly fizzy slightly off-white colored head with a moderately rocky top... Solid retention... The color is a sleek lemony yellow... Some slow-to-moderate paced carbonation... Completely translucent and uber clean...

S - Simple and straight forward... Canned corn... Lemon zest... A kiss of spice... Slight grassy and floral notes... A bit of European hoppiness...

T - A bit lemony... A good bit of hop bite, especially for the style... Some crisp wheat notes... Loaded with bready malts...

M - A bit of foam touches the lips to start... Medium bodied... Modest carbonation... Clean... Very crisp... A bit stiff... Very good for the style...

D - A simple and straightforward... Enjoyable and refreshing... Doesn't try to be anything more than what it actually is, a very drinkable lager... The 4.6% makes it even more drinkable... Any one seeking out a simple, straight forward, and well executed lager should give this Sly Fox offering a change...

Poured from a 12 oz can into a Becker glass. Best by 7/24/2014 stamped on the bottom of the can. Moderate hand.

A: Pale, golden yellow body with ok clarity. 1.5 fingers of sudsy, white head. Good retention. Light lacing.

S: Noble hops and grass. Lightly floral notes. Pale malt, cracker. Faint biscuit. Somewhat sweeter than expected.

T: A bit atypical as the hop bitterness hits first, followed by the swell of pale malt sweetness and some essence of corn. The hops reappear late for a semi-dry finish. No alcohol presence.

M: Moderate carbonation. Body is a bit heavier than average for the style.

O: Average outing for the style from an American brewery. A bit sweet and more corn than I'd prefer, but it's aight.

Prost!

On draft at Kodiak's, Farmingdale, New York.

Poured a medium straw hue with a wispy white head. There was no retention and lacing. I attribute this to the pour and not the beer though.

The smell featured a light grainy malt and cleansing noble hop spice.

The taste was well balanced with a tight doughy malt and balancing noble hop spice.

The mouthfeel was typical of the style

Overall a tasty beer and good rendition of the style.
