A - rich deep amber, clear with a small white head. 3.5

M - smooth and well carbonated, medium bodied. 3.5

2009 Hop Project Beer.

A: Crystal clear amber body. Moderate off-white head. Leaves behind, sheet like lacing from start to finish.

S: Soft floral and earthy nose. Interesting, but not too much else going on in the nose.

T: Bitter herbal and floral notes. Earthy with hints of spicy hop bitterness.

M: Smooth, light-medium bodied. Good carbonation levels. Clean finish.

D: Refreshing. My #6 out of the 11 single-hop hop project beers.

(From notes - share from a kind RB)

A - Clear copper-gold color; thin quickly dissipating eggshell head

S - Earthy and citrus hop aromas; bit bready

T - Fairly hoppy, but the hoppiness is very earthy; mineral-like finishing flavors

M - Thinner to medium; softish carbonation

D - Just really average overall and even against the style; some flavors I didn't care for and bland otherwise

Overall, much more interesting out there in the range. I understand that this is an experimental brew, so props to Sly Fox for the try, but no need for me to visit again in case it becomes regular.

This is part of Sly Fox's 2009 Hops Project pale ale series. This, the Whitbread Golding Variety, was released on 8/14/09.

I had a pint at Craft Ale House in Limerick, PA for $4.50. The menu described it as having a tobacco flavor and damn, they weren't kidding. Overall these are very spicy hops that still feature fruity grapefruit and lemon peel notes. Frankly, I'm not sure I like this hop by itself, but I can see how it'd contribute to an IPA. Definitely try this beer if you find it. I can't say it's not interesting.
