2009 Hop Project Beer, enjoyed on tap at the Peekskill Brewery, Peekskill, NY. Poured medium almond amber. The head was moderately puffy and a medium shade of khaki. Typical light hoppy nose sniff. Respectable pale here, medium level hops shine through with a resiny quality. Balanced hops/malty/breadyness to provide the traditional. Decent sessioner, easy drinking pale.

2009 Hop Project Beer
A: Crystal clear amber body. Moderate off-white cap. Recedes to a nice skim and a tight ring around the edges. Nice sheet-like lacing down the glass edges.
S: Pungent grapefruit and lemon-citric hop notes. Slight caramel malt in the background.
T: Grapefruit, lemon and hints of floral and pine bitterness. The hops shine here over a muted malt canvas.
M: Smooth, medium bodied brew. Clean finish with just a hint of bitterness left on the tongue.
D: My favorite from the 11 2009 hop project brews. Clean, clear flavors and a nice weight to the body make this one the standout from the night.

this beer pours a nice deep amber color with an off white head that recedes to a sticky lace on the side of the glass. the columbus hops come through very nicely in the nose, just barely off set by the malt, the single hop use shows off the hops citrusy character very nicely through out the tasting from the citrus taste to the bitter finish, the medium body and adequate carbonation make this a pretty good beer.

The beer pours a beautiful, dark golden color with a thick frothy white head that slowly fades to lacing. The aroma is good. It has a well balanced scent of pale malts and bitter Columbus hops. This is one hoppy beer. The taste is outstanding. It is a hop lovers dream. The malt base is your typical pale and Carapils malt mix, but the hop character is right in the front row. It's bitter, but also really mixes well with the rest of the beer. The mouthfeel is fine. It is a medium/full bodied beer with adequate carbonation. This was one of the only hop project beers I've ever tried. I leaves me wondering why I don't homebrew more with Columbus. They seem like a good all purpose hop. Thanks to the Cyber Cafe West for being the local hookup for this tasty beverage.

a: This was a golden colr with some coppery hughlights. It was served to me with a short, fluffy cap that faded to lace.
s: I got some mild lemon and grapefruit, along with some surprisingly strong caramel.
t: Starts off well, tasting of fresh lemon zest with a little grapefruit. The finish is a bit rough, with some jaggedly sweet caramel.
m: Slick body with gently creamy carbonation.
d: Probably my favorite single hop from Sly Fox. Good for what they are, I wouldn't reach for one on a regular basis.

Poured from tap at the CAH in Limerick into a standard pint glass.
A: A medium golden slightly orange color with a minimal white head. Nice ring glass lacing.
S: Nice crisp hops with citrus, grass and some floral notes. Slight bready malt.
T: Nice crisp hops with flavors of grapefruit, orange, lemon and some grassy floral hints. Bready malt backbone lies underneath but the nice crisp hops bitterness really carries the beer. Nice bitter finish that ends dry.
M: Crisp, clean, dry, bitter, no alcohol, nice.
D: High, real high.
A very good if not excellent pale ale from the Project Pale Ale by Sly Fox. How they keep producing these great beers is beyond me. Wonderful and more drinkable than the IPA project beers....perfect!
