750ml corked and caged offering into a cervoise. The brew pours a hazed copper copper with a sudsy white topping that coats the glass witg spots of lace. The brew has a pretty solid look to it, typical of a belgian strong ale.

The nose has a pretty big impact of belgian candy sugar character that intices you at first sniff. There is a bit of herbal hop inclusion accented by some fruity tinges of alcohol. If I didnt know any better, id say this is a pretty standard belgian strong ale offering.

The taste includes belgian candy sugar character with moderate sweetness upfront. There is a mild fruity alcohol inclusion almost like oranges and herbs. The alcohol is quite evident and brings out a bit of yeasty spice aspect typical of belgian offerings with hints of clove, pepper and mild tropical fruit.

This is a medium bodied brew with a modest amount of carbonation. It displays a pretty hefty alcohol impact. This is an interesting and typical belgian triple. The advertised "sour" character is a bit misleading and I can see why some people would be disappointed with it. I dont know what their methods were for trying to sour this but they came up short. If I was in the mood to have a belgian strong ale, I would certainly grab this if available. However, for a "sour" well...this is not. At least the bottled we opened this past weekend showed no signs of such.

Big thanks to G311 for grabbing me a bottle of this. Served in a snifter.

Pours a yellow-golden color with a good, thick white head and plenty of foam. Retention and lacing aren't as good as I would expect given the initial head. Some lacing as it goes down. The nose brings forward a bit of spice along with a good dose of malty sweetness. There are some stone fruits in the background as well.

The flavor is a bit too sweet and doesn't showcase the yeast nearly enough, especially for a beer with Brett in it. There is some slight Brett presence in the taste and I can feel a bit of its dryness in the finish, but I think it's too soon on this one. The fruit character is nice, though. Quite a bit of peach as it warms up. Fairly light body though this is bolstered by the sugar content. This certainly needs some time; hopefully in due course the Brett will make itself known.

Thanks to Bobby for sharing this one.

A: The beer pours a slightly hazed yellow color with a big white head.

S: There's a decent enough funk to the nose along with lots of sweet candi sugar and honey aromas. I get some grass and oak in there, along with a touch of tartness. Unfortunately, the alcohol is noticeable, too.

T: Starts off with sweet malts and sugar, sort of like the nose. The lactic characteristics start to come through and provide a nice lemony flavor and tartness. Also, some sour apple, a touch of oak, and a definite alcohol flavor.

M: The body is medium with a pretty high level of carbonation that fills the mouth.

D: Not too bad, but a bit too strong/boozy for me. If the booze could be covered up, I would think this would be a pretty good beer.

Bottle courtesy of The Don Deuane thank you sir. Shared with cmurren25, Jwiss22, JayW73 and Lane23 to the tone of this...

A- Is this a tripel? Hahaha obviously has some of the characteristics of the base Incubus. A very pleasant golden hazy color with a faint pale yellow hue. A very nice amount of carb that leads, with a steady stream of bubbles, to a thin white head. A similar appeal to Temptation that has me excited to get to the rest.

S- Opens up with an immediate earthy/musty quality that entices me to whiff some more. I get more of the mustiness from the Brett and some slight fruit sweetness along with the very faint traditional Belgian yeast spiciness. As it warms I can pick up no wood notes, but a very subtle dry wine note and a faint sourness. Semi-enjoyable, but very odd.

T- A very interesting opening that is a flash back to some Berliners I have had. It has a tart apple flavor that forces some salivation with a slight sourness that causes a little pucker. As it warms up I can get some of the fruit nuances along with Belgian candi sugar. It has a dry wine finish to it as well that is quick, but good.

M- A light body that is coating, but not syrupy. A little pucker and a nice carb tingle that allows for a faint sour snap with a nice dry finish.

D- This was not as enjoyable as I would have liked especially due to the fact that I enjoy Incubus a lot. I was a little underwhelmed, was expecting a more intense sour like Cisco's Lady of the Woods, but this one fell a little short. It is light, refreshing, tart and sour, but not as sour as I would have liked.

Sly Fox makes some great beers and this was their first try at a sour. Keep it coming I know they will nail one soon. A great first try!

Poured a hazy golden yellow with pale yellow highlights that had a thin bubbly head and left a little lacing sticking to the glass. You can definitely detect the bretty funky aroma with some candy sugar and belgian yeast which reminds me lots of bubble gum but had faint apple esters. You could its gonna have some kind of tart flavors. The taste did have the belgian yeast type character but also with some bretty funky tart flavors alongside mild apple fruity oaky accents. The brew was medium in body with a good amount of prickly carbonation which had a slight sweet but bretty, mild fruity, and tart finish. It was a solid sour tripel that drank good and was a decent first attempt at a wild ale.

On tap at Sly Fox for the 15th Anniversary Brunch on 12/10/10.

A - Hazy golden liquid with a bubbly white head that diminished to a thin patch and ring, yielding spotty lace.

S - Initial aroma is tart and fruity but also sweet with a hint of citric notes, faint Brettanomyces, mild candi sugar and traces of floral hops. Very nice, complex aroma that just doesn't bludgeon you over the head with sourness.

T - Mild tart and fruity initial flavor with a hint of cherry pie filling and a subtle honey sweetness. Flavor is more tart than sour, though there is a hint of musty, earthy funk and Brettanomyces in there.

M - Medium bodied with spot-on carbonation that isn't too bristly or effervescent. Sweet but semi-dry and tart on the palate.

D - I really dug this beer! Don't expect a crazy sour circus in your mouth. If you go in anticipating a pleasantly tart and drinkable tripel that is fruity, sweet and subtly sour, then you will be a happy camper. One of the best of its kind that I've sampled in my travels.

A subtly sour rendition of Incubus Tripel which intrigues with unique flavors and leaves a long, lingering memory. Sly Fox's first try at a "wild" ale

A-Hazy golden "Tequila Sunrise" yellow with a small, tight, white head that diminished to a thin cap and left thin, yet attractive lacing.

S-Light musty yeast, mild Brett sour zing, candi sugar sweetness and a backing Zinfandel like character.

T-Medium biscuit malt sweetness backed nicely by a slightly tart zing.. Notes of Granny Smith apple and a touch of bubblegum leading to an obvious Sweet-tart candy comparison.

M-Medium-light body. Quite smooth and viscous without becoming cloying or syrupy. Nice sour bite and a finishing dryness.

D-Damn....for a first time experiment Brian and the Sly Fox crew really hit a winner with this one. A pleasant, approachable sour that is highly drinkable and stealthy as all get out without a hint of it's 10+% ABV showing through. A truly delectable brew.
