Sly Fox Homefront IPA 6% abv
Appears slightly hazed copper body with off white head forms fine speckled lacing down the sides of my pint. Aromatics offer up pine and citrus candied hops with a light malt sweetness, flavor brings the hops with some finesse. Really drinkable hoppy IPA that doesn't kill you with bitterness or IPA, rather a pleasant drinkable hoppy pleasure full beer love this stuff, Americans need more of this hop assaults are great but they are just the tip of the iceberg. Oily resinous medium body the type of beer I will drink in number!

2014 can Homefront IPA 6.2 % aged on Louisville Slugger maple and has orange peels added.

Appears pale caramel copper hue with a bright white head forming thick above the rim of my glass. Canned at Sly Fox Pottstown, PA location...one of the other brewers involved in this project also including Cigar City, Maui Brewing, 21st Amendment, Left Hand, Perennial Artisan, Saint, Arnold, and Stone those were the ones I've heard about before.

Aroma has a nice mix of earthy, pine, resinous qualities with big citrus pith notes along with some dank herbal qualities, minimal caramel malt present but a big of fruity sweetness in the back end as well.

Flavor strong maple wood aging effects which come off more like pine notes than the average oak tree notes we all know and love, lingering bitterness, citrus pith from the orange peel additions, big hop accents earthy, dank with beautiful hop burps.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied ample carbonation, dry resinous hop finish overall I'm not complaining weird aspect from the maple wood lingers around with an earthy quality.

Overall, it supports the troops I love the concept and I enjoy the beer so it's a win win situation for beer lovers and those that believe in the people who have sacrificed to keep us safe.

On cask at The Old Toad for their cask festival.

Pours a slightly hazy dark amber, with a fizzy half inch head, and no lacing.

Smells like pine, toasted bread, caramel malt, and citrus hops.

The taste is along these same lines, some good spicy pine and herbal hop flavors, with a good toasty malt flavor that might be aided the Louisville Slugger bat usage. There's some citrus flavors- orange, mango, and pineapple.

Medium bodied, crisp, slightly dry mouthfeel. Very drinkable.

Overall a pretty solid effort from Sly Fox. Tasted really good on cask.

First had: on tap at TJ's, Paoli, PA

Poured a clearish darker amber color with a half inch or so of white head; moderate retention and lacing. Aroma of citrus and bready, caramel malts. Taste followed the aroma, with a good balance of citrusy hops and caramel malts, sweet orange peel that wasn't too overbearing, and an aftertaste of pine needles. Medium body and easy to drink. Not quite as fresh and crisp as some of the bigger names in AIPAs, but still good in and of of itself.

A: Pours a yellow with a hint of amber. Some head at pour disappates to not much. A little lacing present on the glass.

S: Hops present but not over the top - grassy, spicy.

T: Welcome hop flavor balanced with some light malting.

M: Relatively light.

O: Nice brew. One of the better Sly Fox IPAs.

Sly Fox : Homefront IPA

Pours a light amber with a soapy white head. Leaves a sheet of lace behind on the standard pint glass. Perfect clarity, looking like a good IPA.
Hoppy, bready, herbaceous nose.
In the taste, herbal and very weedy. Caramel malts provide a refreshingly lush backing flavor. Dank, sticky hop flavors. The hops literally flare the nostril here, I am pleasantly surprised. A touch of mint and menthol make for a smooth and agreeable drink. A bit earthy, some woody notes and of course sweet herb. Medium bodied mouthfeel but smooth and creamy. Well balanced as well, the finish is mostly clean with faint hop and caramel. Overall, this is an impressive offering from Sly Fox. Loads of hop flavor. Very fresh tasting and well crafted.

On Tap at Resurrection Ale House,

Homefront comes looking copper gold off the spout with a short lived thinly cluttered head that's wavy. Small specs of suds on the glass. Smell is earthy hopped with some pine and underlining caramel from the malt. Some grassy smell and a mild floral scent. Taste is a step up from a mild pale ale, hops are here but the citrus does not shine. This might be west coast styled, yet Homefront is not there yet. I would keep this in east coast category. This is more grass oriented with a dense malt closing. Not my bag, I just don't see the 'west coast' distinction, maybe some dry hopping would be a nice start. Feel is medium a faint bitterness from the hops, mild carb and easy drinking if your in the mood. Me, A glass is plenty.
