Mix of production, taproom and biergarten, this spot has a large amount of outside seating with a more modest indoors. There is a bocce court and a disc golf course for “physical “ entertainment.

There are around 15 beers on tap, and some simple pub fair to eat. The beers have a more classic makeup to them, with a mix of mostly lagers, IPAs, and classic German styles. The three darkest beers this stop were a regular strength milk stout, a rye weizenbock, and an Oktoberfest. All beers are pretty well made, and pretty much won’t knock you down after a couple.

I have been to this brewery many times and the beer is always fresh, high quality, and never off-putting in any way. Their hop project beer(s) are always interesting and they tap new brews on a regular basis, but not to the point of saturation. Generally, the vibe is relaxed, family-oriented, and a place where serious craft beer drinkers can drink and/or pick up quality microbrews for takeout. This not to mention their well attended can-jam and goat race festivals. During our last visit, I saw that they are in the process of expanding outside seating, continuing to make it a great space to drink beer outside. Their menu is limited but compliments the beer well (personal pizzas, wings, salads), especially since the main reason I am there is to drink good craft beer! A while ago, we toured the brewery and it was clean and impressive- these days I always look forward to an afternoon or night out at this location. It is a required stop on anyone's brewery bucket list.

Sly Fox in Pottstown,17 beers on draft but nothing attractive. Brews that were average 15 years ago and today are just plain outdated.

Beer hall atmosphere, nothing special. Stickman is close by and so much tastier.

Pizza was good, though

Sly Fox has two locations. The old brewery / restaurant in Phoenixville and the new production brewery and brew pub in Pottstown. Well TG got a living social deal where you get 2 shirts and 2 brewery tours at the Pottstown brewery. Unfortunately they don’t do tours on Fridays but we did get out T-shirts. The new place is real nice. We were going to eat lunch there but the food menu is limited (just pizza’s and some finger pub foods). When I say limited I don’t mean that as a bad thing. The pizza’s they had looked awesome and some of the other stuff looked good, we just wanted a full lunch menu and decided to eat at the restaurant in Phoenixville. The bar was long and there were about 9 wooden tables with benches inside as well as an outdoor patio area to hang out as well. Great looking place but the only problem is its in the back of an industrial park and unless you have the address and know what your looking for your probably not going to randomly stop by this place and just happen to come across it.

I took a break from the Reading WWII Weekend on Friday, 03JUN11 for lunch at the Royersford Sly Fox.

This pub is easily found once getting off the highway in Royersford, and is located at the right-hand end of a nondescript building in a small strip-mall. Upon entering, there's a hostess station to the left, beyond which is a dining room. Straight ahead is a small dining area/lounge, with the bar at the rear of the room, running right to left with a short "ell" back to the rear. The decor is an odd mix of garish, red walls with lots of old, polished dark-wood furniture, as found in many a London pub. Further back, beyond the left of the bar, is a display case with glassware and clothing, another dining room, and a game room with pool tables, pin-ball, etc. Decent rock music filled the air.

I parked at the bar and perused the bier menu, which had 12 different options to choose from. They had a varied assortment, from 2 different maibocks to an IPA, a rauchbier to a tripel, and so on. I tried the 2 maibocks, the rauch and the tripel. All were solid and tasty. For my meal I went with a Buffalo Chicken Sammich, which was quite satisfying and filling. My bartender did a solid, albeit unspectacular, job. Had hoped to snag a bier to go, but they were out of my intended choice, their DIPA. Still, it was well worth the side-trip from Reading, and I'd surely swing by again if possible. Prosit!!

My first impression of this place is not a great one. The building's exterior is nondescipt and unappealing and the decor inside is rather dated. The vibe feels more like a mid-'90's chain restaraunt than a brewpub. Where is all the brewing equipment? Somewhere in the back of the building I suppose. The beer, however, was a bright spot. Not a huge selection but quite a few belgians and germans on-tap. The food is standard pub fare and the prices are reasonable. Overall, this is a great place to stop in for a pint if your in the area but isn't really a destination spot.

Went here this past saturday with the lady and a group of friends. We took the brew tour and got lunch. It was pretty cool that they let you bring a beer with you on the tour as other places I've been to don't.

The atmosphere is a little old and plain for that of a resturant but they do have a great game room that I had to bump the score up for. The walls are a bland maroon color, not many pictures, the tables look like they have some years of wear and tear on them. The game room though was sweet. We played shuffelboard, air hockey, some offroad racing game, and of course BIG GAME HUNTER!! The service I had was interesting, I think every time I went up to the bar there was a different bar tender. The waitress was ok, she didn't seem to know much on the selection and I've never had Slyfox prior to this, but we had a large group and she did well.

The selection is obvious because you're in their brewery/resturant for cryin out loud, but their beer is good! I tried the Royal Weise, the Saison, and the Rt. 113 IPA. I also bought a 750 bottle of the Ichor and Incubus home to try. They do have a liquor license so you can get mixed drinks or shots if that pleases you.

The food was pretty good actually, nothing outstanding but everyone was pleased. I got a Reuben that was delicious, and my girl got a ham pretzel melt that I helped her finish that was damn tasty also. All in all food and beer was priced very reasonable, nothing out of the ordinary.

Stopped in with a part of four for dinner and beers on a Saturday night around 8:00 pm. Was told there was a 20-25 minute wait which was fine. However, we were seated within 10 minutes which was great.

THe atmosphere is a little weird. It looks more like a casual family restaurant in the dining area than a brewpub. The layout and color scheme are a little dated and tired. However, I enjoyed all the kitschy fox related bric-a-brac scattered through the dining area. Also, we were seated directly in front of the working fireplace which was nice since we had just come from the freezing and windy nearby outlet mall.

I thought our waitress was great. My wife and I are quite familiar with Sly Fox beer but she walked our out of town guests through the beer list and gauging what they like in beer. In the end, they were both happy with the choices they had made.

I think the beer selection is great. There were 12-15 beers on tap representing a wide variety of styles. I opted for two of my favorites: Pikeland Pils then a Route 113 IPA. Additionally, you can also get some of Sly Fox's large format bottled beer in the restaurant.

The food is not the star attraction at Sly Fox. I had crab cakes and they were just alright. The crab cakes themselves were pretty good, but they were small and my mashed potatoes were definitely plated with an ice cream scoop. All in all, the food wasn't bad. It just wasn't memorable either. I think I'll stick to burgers on future visits.

The bill was reasonable and I thought the value for drinks particularly was pretty good. My favorite aspect of the meal was that you could place a to go beer order with your waitress. I ended up taking home a bottle of Odyssey and a growler of Pughtown Porter. The growler was a good deal too. $4 for the growler itself an $8.49 for the beer.

All in all, come for the beer. It's worth a stop in your in the area.

Obviously, you're most likely going here for the beer, but the service is atrocious. The place was near empty, on a tuesday evening, and it took 20 min to get a beer. On top of that, the apps and main course were served within about 4 min of each other. I don't get it.

Anyway, the beers are slightly under-whelming. The 113 IPA is my favorite. Some of the limited stuff is nice to try, but I live so close to this brewpub, I'd really like to see them brew something that blows me away and keeps me coming back.

Been there a few times to eat, many times to drink.

Standard brewpub and restaurant, with a cool game room in the back with pool tables, shuffleboard, air hockey, etc.

The quality of the beer is always great, I've never had a bad beer. My favorite being their quad Ichor, which is fantastic. Their standard beers are canned and available for take-out, which comes in handy when attending a BYOB sporting event that doesn't allow glass bottles.

My only slight complaint about the selection is just personal, in that my favorite styles are porter, brown ale, and stout. Of which the only one they've ever had is their dry stout, which ironically is the sub-style of stout that is my least favorite.
But for fans of IPA, Pale Ale, and various German styles, they should be up your alley.

The food in my opinion was just average and maybe, a little over priced for the quality. No problem with the cost of beer.

The brewery is one of two locations for Sly Fox, but the one (other being in Phoenixville) that does the bulk of the work now - brewing, canning, bottling, etc. A tour was available with little notice and the tour guide was knowledgeable and interesting. The restaurant was quite large with a number of different rooms with different purposes. When we were there there was even a christening and a little girl's birthday party. I was trying to imagine what the invitations would look like. "Come to Jill's 5th birthday party at the brewery?" The bar area was quite comfortable and the servers and bartenders were polite and attentive. I did not find them terribly well acquainted with the beers, however. Our bartender suggested Incubus was a quad (it's a triple). The food was decent with good portions and reasonably priced to inexpensive. The menu had surprisingly wide variety of offerings, beyond just the typical pub fare. Based on my visit, I would recommend this place to you and will go back to test it again soon.

Very nice clean establishment.
Great beer selection with plenty to choose from on tap and even a nice selection of 750ml bottles. Live music every time I've been there. Great game room with pool tables, darts, air hockey etc. Service has been great every time I visit Sly Fox.

Nice sized bar if you want to sit at the bar, there are plenty of tables and booths in the bar area as well. Dining room is plenty big and isolated from the bar if you just want to kick back for dinner and relax.

Their stout is one of the best I've had.
Their Phoenix Pale Ale is also one of my favorites from Sly Fox.

Visited this place with some friends on a Saturday afternoon in May of 2010. I used to live in PA so I'm familiar with Slyfox. They brew a lot of good beers (canned which I prefer).

Ordered food and beer samplers. Beer selection and quality was exceptional as expected. Service was average...bartender offered very little background/recommendations on brews. Food was surprisingly good though and reasonably priced. Took a walk-through tour of the brewery which was awesome. Manager/tour guide was helpful and friendly and answered a lot of my homebrewing questions.

Atmosphere was the only thing lacking from this visit. Not a place that I would go to on a regular basis because of that. Felt like the place needed a make-over...something was missing.

Well it was my b-day yesterday so my wife and I decided to make a trip. We have already tried the other Slyfox so why not this one.

Looks to be an old supermarket which was taken over by Slyfox the Limerick nuclear power plant looming large in the background. A nice little patio area but it is way to could for that. We were very impressed with the size of the place. As you walk through the doors A nice dining area to your immediate left and goes through to the back. The bar is straight ahead with a couple of private booth areas around the back part of the bar.

Service was very good. Looks like a few locals in there after work on a Friday for a few.Since we sat to have an early dinner we really didn't chat to the bartender to give us insight on slyfox news.

As there other place there selection is great. I had sampler of the oatmeal stout , ESB , Oddyessey , and three others that I have forgotten.

Food is fantastic some of the best pretzels I have ever had with that great slyfox mustard. Proportions of food are very impressive. I had a big plate of blackend chicken penne for 8.95 the lighter portion and it was very filling.

A fun place to visit but is a little out of the way for us. A great gift on my b-day though.

A really fun place to visit. Not your typical brewpub in that the beer is brewed at their original location about 5 miles away. The atmosphere is quite charming. Old English style pub theme with dark wood everywhere. Large bar with comfortable seating although at peak times the place can be kind of like a zoo and near impossible to find seating or quality service. If you want a leisurely lunch with some good food, or an after dinner snack and some nice entertainment this is a perfect place to visit.

Hey, its a Sly Fox. This one is larger than the one in Phoenixville and slightly closer to my house. Sly Fox beers are usually solid and rotate regularly. Another good place for the kids - they like the food and to bribe them, I'll tell them I'll buy them something from the store next to it (it's a dollar store so they can go crazy there!). Food is decent and I haven't had a bad experience and I come here on a fairly regular basis. I even attended an event that rented out the back room and the service for that was great.

I visited the Sly Fox brewery/brewpub this past weekend with a couple of friends from the Harrisburg area. We had a good time, but I have a few mixed feelings about the overall experience.

I think the atmosphere inside is really inviting and comfortable. Low lighting, lots of dark wood, half walls throughout the bar area to break things up a bit. We stayed in the bar area, but I did notice a nice sized dining area, a room that was sectioned off... perhaps for private parties... and also a nice little game room to keep the kiddies involved while the adults can enjoy the beer. The quality of the 5 beers I tried were above average, but nothing really blew my mind. I liked the O'Reilly Stout, and the Pub Ale on nitogen stood out as quality brews. A few of the other beers I tried were a little off from the style they claimed to be, but no big deal... it is what it is. The service was good and they had a nice selection of beers to choose from... maybe 15 on tap or so. The food was also good. I had a Cuban sandwich with onion rings. I think my buddy had a burger, which he said was good as well. The prices are also reasonable and I liked the fact there were 2-4 different size choices for each of the beers they served.

I would return if I was in the area again, but I would not make the drive out from western PA a second time. Overall, I had a good experience here... partly because of the friends I was with, and the other half from the establishment itself.

We specifically came to Royersford to check this place out. It was worth the trip.

There are tables to sit outside and eat/drink, which is nice. I was impressed with the way the inside looked. Some brew pubs have the luxury of being located in a unique building, which lends itself to the atmosphere. Sly Fox made being located in a strip mall work really well. Decor and the bar were laid out well.

Ordered a 5 beer sampler:
Saison Vo, Rt113IPA, Pikeland Pils, October Fest Lager, Pheonix Pale Ale.
Tried a sample of the Rauchbier...very interesting and a draft of the Belgian dubbel.
Had the burger and it was tasty. Everyone that I was with stated that they really like their food.

I really liked the fact that you could order 10oz drafts...I wish more bars would do that.
...Took home a couple 750ml bottles.

The service was friendly and seemed staffed well.

If I'm in the area again, I'll stop in.
