I think this place needs an updated review.

Ok, so I go here from time to time when I am in the srea which is usually once every two weeks. I stop in just to see what they have. The beer is in the center towards the back of the store. They have all of your usual BMC products. In the very center is where the micros are. Six packs on one side and bombers on the other. To the left on the opposite side of the six packs is the imported shelf. Now...the selection is very limited. They have Stoudts, Victory, Ommegang, TommyKnocker, and some other main stays around the North Jersey area. The shelves are always bare and never well stocked. But I stop in there because I never know what they are going to have. Sometimes I see vintage bottles and very limited release beers and I ask somebody that works there about it and they usually respond with a "well I guess we had it in the back." The help is usually non exsitant there and most of the employees don't even know what they have there. Overall, its good to stop by once in a blue moon, but there are way better places in the area.

Another shop that I believe has been there since I was a kid. Looking for a new haunt, I came across this on beerfly and took a spin.
Was not let down, nor blown away but I did walk out with a few things. Another case of this place having things others do not so it balanced out. Prices were about $1-$2 more but nothing to cry about.
6 packs, 6 packs and more 6 packs. Store consists of those mainly. Cases on the floor with some more 6packs on top to the left. Selection was a bit different than the area shops. Bomber / 750 shelves were Eh, but I found bottles that were sold out of all the other shops.
Manager/owner? breezed by and noticed my grabs and offered that he had bottles chilled up front for tasting so that was cool.
Overall not a terrible experience, worth a shot.

Stopped in Valley Wines and Spirits to see what they had.

It was a interesting mix of poor organization, bored employees, and a pretty good beer selection.

We went in and to the back for the beers. They have the mass market beers and major imports in the fridge. The micros/craft brewers were shelved on the floor.

Oddly, 1/3 of the fridge was empty, so why not cool some of the craft beers?

There is no logical organization to the craft beers. In some areas they are sorted by brewer, others areas by type, and other areas by no logical design. It took a long time to get a feel for what they had.

After I looked at what they had, they had a lot. In particular I like that they break out 12 oz singles, so I can inexpensively try new beers. There are quite a few craft brewers represented, and a good selection of 750's. I thought the cost was slightly higher than the area competition.

I will go back, mostly because it is convenient and for the selection of 12 oz singles.

Could be a really good beer stop, but they would have to make an effort.

I worked at this place from 2005 - 2006 and I still go here for my beer purchases when I'm back in town. The selection is really the strongest thing this store has going for it. It has a nice six pack selection for both domestic and import craft beers, but is lacking in the single bottle department. Also, it is NOT a mix and match which is disappointing.

As far as service and quality, its hit or miss. The store owner is horrible to his employees and there is a high turnover rate. The beer does not get much attention from the staff so there is the risk of old and lightstruck beers. If you are mindful of the exp. dates and placement of beers in relation to the light, you can come away with some great beers at a good price.

This place has a totally killer selection, and I mean that. It has easily one of the best selections of Micros and imports in one little place that I have ever seen. Previous review pretty much nailed it as far as selections, I mean there is really nothing I could have thought of that I wanted that I did not find. It was awesome. Prices were actually really decent as well, considering it was Wayne and all. This store really makes me miss living up here, but not my liver. If I had a selection like this at home, I think I would be in some serious trouble. Its just a great little place to stop in and visit. I cannot really speak for the staff, as my only interaction was at purchasing, but this is really the stop up here, and it is very easy to find. Definitely on my short list of repeat places the next time I go back home.

It's that store up the way some from Jed and Dena's. And most recently, the morning of their wedding afforded me the opportunity to revisit, as I was going to need provisions for the bridal suite and the hotel afterwards. Yeah, I had my cooler and had brough stuff anyway, but was going to need something pumpkin for the bride and some Cinderbock for the groom...
It's in a little strip, stand alone from the rest of the plaza right out there on Preakness, easy to find. Mostly a wine & liquor store, with beer to the rear in the middle aisle and in coolers.
In racks on one side of an aisle, they've got a nice selection of micros local & regional (Ramstein, Southampton, Weyerbacher, Bethlehem, Stoudts, Troegs, Lake Placid, Atlantic, Smutty, Allagash, Otter Creek, Magic Hat, Shipyard, Long Trail, DogFishHead, Heavy Seas, Victory) and beyond (Avery, 3 Floyds, Rogue, Grants, Sierra, Anchor, North Coast, Anderson Valley).
Around the backside of those racks in the next aisle, live the imports. Good Belgians (Orval, Delirium, Affligem, Kwak, Saison DuPont, Duvel, Corsendonk, Triple Karmelit, Gouden Carolus, Brasserie de l'Abbaye des Rocs, Kasteel, Chouffe, Westmalle, Rochefort, Chapeau, Leffe), German (Schneider, Franziskaner, Hacker Pschorr, Ayinger, Paulaner, Julius Echter, Konig Ludwig, Aecht, Uerige), English and more (Unibroue, Panil).
There's a seperate display of Octoberfests and a collection of 7 pumpkin beers here as well (Buffalo Bill, Smuttynose, Blue Moon, Shipyard, DogFishHead, Weyerbacher & Bethlehem). I've never seen so much pumpkin beer collected at a single location, they're really hoarding the gourd.
Olives, peppers, jellys, nuts, cheeses, spreads, oils and stuff up front near the check out. A good beer store for your day to day goods. And uh... You can forget about finding any 750's of DogFishHead Old School Barleywine here, I liberated them a long time ago.
