The first day of Winter is December 21st, but we can start melting the frost sooner than that - time for the first East End Winter Warmer - or should I say American Winter Warmer. Snow Melt is a Mahogany-red ale with a unique malt character, and a bright pine-ey hop flavor, unusual for a beer of this style, but seasonally appropriate none the less.

Lightly hazy dark brown to black with a khaki head settling to a short bubbly blanket leaving a few spots of lace.
It's similar to their Schwarz, but with a few more brown ale qualities amid notes of spices that hint at anise, toasty cinnamon and bitter roots.

1/1/22 On tap at Industry Public House, Robinson.
Unlike any winter warmer. We don't really get any of the winter warmer characteristics, however, whatever this brew is, it was enjoyable.

Dark ruby pour with thin tan head. Heavy lacing. Aroma lacking. Slightly smoke malt flavor with chocolate malt. Hoppy on the end. Medium body with low carbonation. A bit oily. Not your normal warmer.

Super malty - elements of peat and smoked malt, a little boozey phenol finish, perhaps a little too unrefined on the follow through for me but otherwise solid beer

Pours an earthy brown with ruby edges and a half finger of head. The nose is straight-up bread. The most prominent note in the flavor profile is maple syrup on toast. A touch of Christmas spice pokes out on the finish.

I'm trying the Snow Melt at Redbeards in Downtown Pittsburgh. It poured a hazy dark amber with off white head that is leaving some lace. The scent hints of toffee. The taste carried coffee and some semi sweet chocolate. The mouthfeel was medium in body with smooth carbonation. Overall it's ok.
