Darkest brown body, creamy light-colored head. Good retention. Laces well.

Molasses, wort sugars, dark bread.

Sweet brown bread, burnt sugar, earthy tones. Very u-nutty. Slight tinniness. Weak in overall flavor.

Cask offering yields some smoothness to an otherwise thin body. Still has some chew. Carb is a bit low on this system. The feel is suffering.

An average brown with its own unique character. Fun to revisit. That's about it.

Appears a deep murky cola brown mahogany brown hue with thin cream beige head that forms minimal specks of lacing ast it dwindles. Aromatics provide light caramel biscuit malts with mild chocolate doughy aspects some tame herbal qualities with a roasted nut edge. Flavor wise the soft cocoa chocolate powder tone with roasted malt dryness blended with the herbal hops dance on the taste buds with a bit of that muted nut character joining the party, overall packed with some flavor loving the lower alcohol. Mouthfeel is lighter bodied with even to lighter carbonation finishes really clean and a bit watery in the finish. Drinkability is great a roasty English style nut brown ale that will keep your beer geek senses tingling and your liver at ease.

This one grew on me. At first there is nothing special, but that's really the point. It's not overpowering and is just right. Not too much of anything.

An overall good beer that isn't in the sterotype of small craft brews. Very drinkable and tasty.

A 6 oz pour shared during a brewery tour with Scott Smith.

A: The nut brown ale is a dark brown color with the appearance of sedimentary haziness. Head is 1 finger in size.

S: The nose is nutty toffee malts with an underlying bitter hop aroma.

T: The mouth is fairly dry, accentuating a nutty malt body without making things get too sweet. The malts are nicely supported by a bittern hop presence that doesn't get in the way, allowing the malt elements to steal the show.

M: The nuttiness is very filling, providing a dry flavor that doesn't want to quit.

D: Another East End beer below 5%, the style is not big on my list but this ale is enjoyable.

This one pours a medium brown with a frothy tan head that sticks around for awhile. Not much smell going on here, but I could pick up some roasted malt and very subtle hops. The taste was nice, consistent, but not very strong. Some roasted malt throughout with some burnt aftertaste. The mouthfeel is light, with good carbonation, and pretty smooth. This is an easy drinking beer, the flavor won't annoy or get old, great session beer, but it is not very complex. Worth checking out, it is an enjoyable beer.

A really good buddy of mine was generous enough to visit East End Brewery, while he and his wife were in Pittsburgh for the weekend. He brought me back a growler of Fat Gary Nut Brown Ale.

I was extremely excited awaiting its arrival, as nut brown ale is one of my favorite beer styles. Once I recieved the clear growler three days later, I immediately had weird vibes about what to expect from this point forward.

It poured a deep-brownish color with little to no head; forced a half-inch head by swirling glass. The smell was pretty good, with hints of malty chocolate and roasted nuts. The taste was very similar to that of the smell. Mouthfeel was very light and a bit weak for my liking.

Overall, the beer has a lot of potential and would love to sample this beer directly from East End Brewery as opposed to having it three days after purchase in a clear growler. In fact, I think I will do so very soon.

Wow I thought this was 4.3 regardless the review

A - Pours a sold dark amber color with very little head.

S - Slight sweet malts with a touch of nuts possible pistachios with a bit of hops.

T - Very thin but I tasted all the nuts I could endure. It was pretty bitter too which must be the malt used. I loved how clean it was and it went down smooth.

M - If I were to describe a light it would be here. Succession able.

D - Well it was good but for under 4 percent it might as well be light beer which I never tread but I liked what I was given and it was still better than BMC. Bottom line drinkable.
