Cheers to DavoleBomb for this one. opens with a solid whoosh

Pours an effervescent apricot color with a finger of ivory colored head. Above average head retention & lacing

S: Biscuitty malt, & a touch of banana & island fruits

T: Follows the nose, not getting DIPA here...this almost tastes like Ugly American minus some of the hops, also getting apricot & pear along with dryness. Some bittering hops & grapefruit kick as this warms, along with honey malt & pineapple & a touch of booze. Finishes with leafy & woody hops, along with tropical fruit & banana, WTF?

MF: Syrupy up front then the carbonation picks up, medium bodied

Drinks okay, I'm a bit underwhelmed at the hop profile, not sure If this was a screw up at the brewery or what? The "hoppy" beers from this brewery haven't really delivered for me..

Had this on 2014-03-13 in Columbia, PA

A - Moderately clear dark orange with a 1.5-finger white head that sticks around and leaves very nice lacing.

S - Pineapple, orange rind, pine, herbal, sweet lightly-toasted bread. Inviting, full aroma.

T - Hop forward. More dank than the aroma but not over the top. Overly ripe orange flesh, grassy-herbal, pepper, a touch of sourness, orange zest, alcohol sweetness, bready malt. Finishes with the same flavors; leaning more towards the bitter side after a minute.

M - Medium-full body and light carbonation. Resinous and prickly. Substantial.

O - This is a big, bold brew that certainly shakes up the tongue. There's a bit of a clash between the overly-ripe fruit and the dank bitterness so it doesn't rocket to the top of my DIPA list; but very nice nevertheless.

Serving: Bomber poured into an IPA glass. Bottled in July 2013. Enjoyed on 12/3/2013.

A - Amber with low carbonation. Loaded with sediment. Not the nicest looking beer.

S - Very nice smell. Very citrusy with subtle malt notes. The hops dominate.

T - Follows the nose. Citrusy hops forward with a malty finish.

M - Low carbonation. A nice grapefruity aftertaste that lingers.

O - A solid offering but a touch too mild for a DIPA. By IPA standards, this one rates higher but its not a DIPA in my opinion. Still a very enjoyable and drinkable beer. I think it would look better if consumed sooner but I would gladly buy this again @ $8 a bomber.

Picked up a few bottles at bottle release after I read they only had 1400 22oz bottles. Appears to be a golden amber color deep with sediment rising from every gulp. Smells of big hops, no pun intended. Big west coast hop smell and some pine and a small scent of alcohol. Taste of pine and hops overwhelm your mouth. For double ipa just what doctor ordered just whatever hops they used its seems they used a ridiculous amount. Mouthfeel is a nice medium carb medium body that has a lot of hop pop with deserving after taste. Overall has great hop presence, just lacking any malt to make top tier in my book . A great job by scott and boys at east end!

I must admit I was getting the dregs of the keg and for a hop head like myself I was in heaven consuming this stuff at the brewery.

Cloudy with hop particulate and silky, almost oily in my mouth. Crazy thing is it wasn't mouth puckering bitter either. I would have purchased the growler but, as I said, I killed the keg.

I will be going down there next week for the bottle release.

East End Brewing
Bigger Hop

LOOK: Pours a bright copper color with a soapy froth that leaves chunks of lace. Clarity is only fair, the head retention is outstanding.

SMELL: Bigger Hop has a extremely hoppy, fruity aroma. Light toasty malt profile.

TASTE: Aggressive grapefruit rind flavor from the hops, yet achieves a fine balance. Bitterness is in full force, and hop oils are sticky. Pine sap, wood, herbs and citrus definitely overshadow the pale or caramel malt body. Little alcohol flavor.

FEEL: Full bodied, well carbonated. Has a strong hop bite and a dry ish finish. Warming alcohol is felt more than tasted.

OVERALL: A nice big IPA. Definitely tastes strongly of tropical hops. Enjoyable, the alcohol creeps up on you. This is what America is all about , taking a Big Hop to the extreme. Thanks to Chase for securing me this rarity, it was worth the price.

Straight 4's. Poured from a growler (they bottle this in a one litre swing top). Pours a light, hazy orangish-gold hue. Nose is very hoppy. The taste? This is the biggest grapefruit bomb ever. All grapefruit all the time. There's also a very prolific pine aspect that permeates throughout a sip of this. The mouthfeel is sour and creamy at the sane time. Overall, this is an incredible beer.

Picked up a bottle during a tasting at East End on my trip to Pittsburgh. Glad I found this little gem.

A - Nice orange color. Slight haze though.

S - Citrus flavor definitely present. Comparatively much hoppier than its baby brother, Big Hop. Notice some grapefruit and orange aroma.

T - Powerful hop presence. Could use a little maltier flavor to balance out bitterness. Definitely stays on the palate for awhile.

M - Pleasant body and mouth with good complexity. Carbonation was spot on for style.

O - I was lucky enough to sample a number of beers from this small brewery, and this was most likely my favorite one. It is definitely a step up from their "Big Hop." Not sure if I'd go out of my way to find one again, but snipe it if it's in the mix.
