Grabbed a growler of this for my best friend when he came out to visit. From the Brewery. Poured into an East End pint glass...

A - Pours a nice golden brown color that reminds me of darker golden raisins. A nice 1 finger fizzy, eggshell white head forms about 1 finger thick and quickly recedes to a cap of the same color.

S - Smell is nice, but lacks a lot of what I was hoping to get. There is a bunch of malts up front, caramel, and some brediness. Very faint blackberry scent that I had to search for a bit. Rye doesn't jump out, but as it warmed, I picked up a little on it.

T - Taste is better with the blackberry coming through much more on the palate. Caramel and bready malts come next mixed with a grainy spice flavor that I cattribute to the rye.

M - Nice medium bodied beer with a pretty moderate carbonation. Finish is slightly spicy and dry.

O - Not bad, but not great. I really hoped there would be more blackberry in this one. Looking forward to another berry-rye offering from them to see if it is any different.

From the East End/Harris Grill beer pairing dinner. Scott states this was made with 100lbs of blackberries. We had the first pull.

A: Pours a orangish brownish red color with a small off white foam head. There is nice amount of lacing. Looks really nice.

S: The smell was not overly appearing. Not much rye or blackberry scents coming through. The main smell was a mild caramel back bone.

T: Starts off with a decent amount of rye spice up front. In the middle the caramel comes out. On the back end there is a mild amount of blackberry that starts to balance out the rye, but there needs more blackberry.

M: A nice light to medium bodied beer that leaves a dry rye spice tast on the palate.

O: I was really looking forward to trying this brew. I was hoping there would be more blackberry flavor coming through but it drank more like a rye ale.
