First, let me mention that, I almost pulled my bottle opener out of the drawer, and then I remembered, TWISTIE! Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a clear plastic cup, as it should be. Yellow fizzies, and a finger of white head. Lots of bubbles. The lacing isn't all that shabby honestly. Smell. GAK. A bit of vomit on the forefront. Really raw nasty cheap grain smell. A guess there's some sort of quasi hop smell-ish thing going on. I don't know what to say about the taste other than rancid grain, beer, bad beer, corny tortillay, bad beer taste. Lots of cheap, generic Tostitos corn. It's got a bitterness on the finish, that might be from hops, or it might be from the employee who puked in the vat. No telling. There's some bubbles. I'll give it that. Bottom of the adjunct lager barrel. So bad.

Edit: After letting it "breathe" for about 20 minutes, it becomes slightly less rancid.

473ml Can

Appearance – Clear yellow colour with an average size fizzy white coloured head. There is a lot of carbonation and there is some fair lacing. The head lasted for around 3 minutes before it was gone.

Smell - Grains, bread, malts, corn syrup

Taste & Mouth - The beer has an above average amount of carbonation and it it feels slightly like club soda on the tongue. It's got a very very light taste, almost like a light beer. I can pick up on grains, corn and an apple or pear juice sweetness. It ends with a watery grainy aftertaste.

Overall – Another beer that would work well for camping/cutting the grass etc. Not something I'd buy again however.

A: A very pale straw yellow with virtually no head. Doesn't look all that good to me.

S: Dominated by very mild aromas of grain husks and corn. A cooked vegetable scent emerges as the beer warms, but thankfully does not assault my nose.

T: Opens with notes of mineral water, corn, grain husks, grass, and cracker-like malt. Finishes in a clipped manner with notes of corn, minerals, and a dab of lemony, grassy hop bitterness. Very simple, but true to the style. Could be worse.

M: Dry and thin, but nothing out of the ordinary. Very slight in terms of body with a hard, effervescent mineral mouthfeel.

O: I did not hate this beer as much I expected to, but that being said, I would only reach for this if I were severely strapped for cash. Decent enough for what it is.

A: Pale gold in the bottle. Drunk from bottle ice cold.
S: Grain and corn aromas dominate.
T: Corny taste with a mainly watery flavor.
M: Thin, watery and moderately carbonated.
O: Unimpressive but smooth as it is very watery. Not much flavor and a very simple brew. Best drunk fast and cold on a sweltering night.

12oz bottle. Drank straight from the bottle. Is there any other way?

Appearance - Clear pale straw body. Typical light lager. Taken straight from the bottle so the head is hard to tell, and sort of irrelevant for the style anyway. Looks decent after a swirl. Better than Bud Light or Bud.

Smell - Sweet corny malt. Clean. Almost has traces of banana.

Taste - Corny malt. Better than Warsteiner for doing what that style sets out to do.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied, surprisingly. Not crisp, but not too syrupy either. Refreshingly effervescent.

Overall Drinkability - Pretty good in style. Not a good beer, but good in style. (I had to reiterate). Refreshing, light, slightly flavorful. Am I the only person here who actually rates by style still?

500ml can served into a generic hefeweissbier glass in low altitude LA, California. Reviewed live, with low expectations.

A: Pours a three finger head of slight cream, decent thickness, and okay retention. Clear light yellow colour. Generally unappealing.

Sm: Light shite barley and water. Very bland and boring.

T: Light barley water. That's this beer in a nutshell. Even the malt climax of miller lite is missing. No alcohol, as expected. Shite build and poor balance.

Mf: Smooth, wet, and watery, but not necessarily too thick. Doesn't suit the flavour, except to make it last very little time.

Dr: Easily poundable, as evidenced by frat boys. Decent price, but low quality. A true student beer, though budget wise High Gravity Steel Reserve is better.

A: Looks like carbonated piss, no joke. A white head that doesn't leave any lacing. The carbonation STREAMS up huge bubbles. Completely clear.

S: Smells like wet cardboard and metal. Get some veggie smell as well, adjuncts.

T: This is where it really goes wrong. The taste is god awful. Probably the last beer I'd pick out of a lineup of shitty beers. It's metallic taste is quite off-putting. Not only that, but the beer is so bland, I swear you can taste the alcohol.

M: Thin and watery, and over carbonated.

Like I mentioned before, this beer has an off-putting taste that I believe is one of the worst in the business. I gave it a 1.5 overall because beer is better than no beer.

Blah, definately better out of a bottle by the thinnest of margins.

A: light yellow, quickly disapating head. not really anything special, but it looks like a beer.

S: metal and wet grain. put my nose right in it to get something, not very strong at all and that's likely a very good thing.

T: bland, thin, very little flavor at all. what's there is sweet corn and grains with a metallic aftertaste.

M: like the taste, very thin and watery. combine the two and you get a watery feel with a faint hint of beer taste. perhaps it was the mix with my saliva, but this really froths up in the mouth.

O: it was 32*C (89.6*F) outside at a gathering and these started going down after i ran out of my stock.

Bottom Line: Desperation beer.

Crystal clear, straw yellow with a finger of bright white foam on top. Clumpy lacing stuck to the top of the glass, decent head retention. The aroma was quite sweet, cereal grains and slight corn. Low bitterness with lingering sweetness, perhaps a hint of grassiness. More cereal and cooked corn. Light bodied, thin and very dry, fizzy carbonation.

If I was at a party and had to drink a BMC this is it. Not great but the lesser of the evils. It doesnt have a great color, there is absolutely no head retention, the taste is that of adjunct, and I don't even know if your could describe water as a mouth feel

Imported from my ratebeer.com profile - JUN 19, 2008

Probably the most tolerable mass produced American lager. Smells of grains, corn is most prominent, and perhaps some slight hops. Tastes of corn and some malty sweetness, slight bitter metallic hop flavor, but much less discernible than is found in other American lagers. Definitely smooth and more drinkable than other cheap beers, but still tastes pretty bland. This is one of my cheap fallback beer when I can’t (or don't want to) spend more money.

A - A sleek yellow, golden in appearance, almost resembling a corn colouring in this department. Minimal head which is gone before one has even started.

S - Strong grain odour, metallic and faint white rice.

T - Bread, grains, and also a twist of corn.

MF - Far too light, watery, it goes down just like grainy water.

O - Poor, yet has some perks. I cannot understand why this is so popular, maybe it is simply the availability? Who knows? A last resort beer.

So for some reason this is an extremely popular beer. I haven't had it before, but the term "draft" and the clear bottle are not instilling me with a lot of confidence.

This beer is extremely pale straw in colour. One of the palest I've ever encountered. There is a very minimal head.

The aroma is kind of grainy and wet. It has a kind of crispness to it too, but the adjunct aroma is overwhelmingly present.

The flavour is a little better than the aroma, but not by a landslide or anything. Extremely fizzy! It is difficult to discern any distinct flavours to start. It's kind of like sparkling water with a bit of a grainy taste. It isn't offensive, and is highly drinkable, but doesn't really taste a lot like beer. There is a slight toasty grain aftertaste that is quite nice though.

Overall, this is one of the blandest beers I can recall having. I'm glad i only paid a dollar for this bottle.

After such a gobsmackingly brilliant drop like Weihenstephaner Vitus I come to a brew that averages D+ in BA score; Miller Genuine Draft. My first question is "As opposed to Miller Non-Genuine Draft?", which is soon followed by "why am I reviewing this?"... the answer to which apart from it being really cheap is fairly straightforward - I've reviewed enough nice beers so it's time to review some nasty ones (yay...).

Poured from a 330ml bottle into a 500ml Pokal.

A: Body presents as a clear filtered p*** yellow (same colour out as in perhaps?), with a light foamy white head that soon settles to lacing around the inside of the glass.

S: Smells like hay and non-roasted barley. No hop depth to be found. There is a slight muskiness overriding everything and it does not bode well.

T: Tastes like a beer shandy with some grains thrown into the mix. Crisp with a light dry aftertaste. Really wish I hadn't bought a six-pack, but I guess I can save them for when mates come over (separate from my tasty Pale Ale's). Fairly barren and grainy, not as bad as some of the classic Aussie macro's (VB, MB, Toohey's, or Carlton Cold), however this is merely due to the dilution of those ugly macro Lager flavours that run rampant in Aussie Lagers.

M: Like a glass of lemonade or cola - too much fizz and far too watery.

D: If it was very hot outside and the beer was kept very cold (and you weren't paying for it) I could see a reason to drink this; it's cooling and thirst-quenching in an "I don't want to challenge the drinkers taste buds" kinda way... but life is too short in my opinion, we may only have a limited amount of beer we can drink in our lifetime so why even waste a second on beers without flavour?

Food match: Anything really, you won't taste the beer anyhow so go nuts... chilli, pastrami, wasabi fries with a side of hot English mustard... yeah no, forget the last one.

355ml bottle poured into a 16oz pint glass.

A - Fizzy, half-finger head. No Retention at all. Looks like apple juice.

S - Sweet grains, cereal; bland. Touch of honey, that's about it.

T - Adjunct grains and light malt upfront. Hardly anything present. Finishes grainy. Boring.

M - Thin body. Medium-to-strong carbonation. Refreshing, but watery.

D - Maybe okay on a hot summer day, but other than that, I don't really care for anything this beer has to offer.

The second of my international macrolager test. Had this one after a few Heinekens...

33cl bottle, made in Italy by Peroni under license.

The colour is gold, less pale than say a Bud.
Head shrinks very fast and the carbonation is good. Lots of bubbles.

The smell is not that bad actually, ofcourse it smells light and cheap but it smells better than Budweiser.

Taste is very weak and watery, it has some more flavour than Bud but not by much and it tastes of slightly sweet adjunct cereal.
Mouthfeel is water.

I prefer it over Bud but this is still a very weak lager. Very nice bottle though...

Yellow and fizzy with a large head that quickly went bye-bye, but did leave some lace behind.

Smelled of caramel malts, with some adjunct corn.

Taste followed the smell, caramel malt being the primary flavor, but some notable corn flavors crept through as well.

Feel is very light and fizzy, pretty easy to drink when ice cold but not one that you'd want to let get very warm.

Overall it's not something I'd actually purchase, but at someone else's barbeque it was free, so I gave it a try.

This beer is a pale clear yellow color with a white head that comes and goes very quickly. I remember not minding this beer at one time but now I can't even stand it. The smell is of grains and corn, the flavor is also with a bit of rice there too. The mouthfeel is very thin like club soda almost. Overall it just doesn't appeal to me.

This beer is ok. The only time I drink it is when the waitress at some restaurant tells me they don't have High Life. I wouldn't go out of my way to drink this beer. It's not bad, its not great, its just a beer that is carried everywhere and is better than its BMC light brethren.
