Not much smell. Heck, not much taste either. While I can say the taste that this beer does has is not really objectionable, there's really not much there. It's just this side of water. Although I suppose it's drinkable if you were thirsty, but you could do much better. (269 characters)

A- super clear pale golden with a bit of a head to it.
S- a bit of corn, a faint hop smell.
T- cooked grain, cooked veggie.
M- Very light, finishes bone dry.
D- It's a light lager. It's better than most, but this still isn't much of anything i enjoyed. (253 characters)

Re-rate(forgot I had rated this before).

Not as bad as I had it pegged...actually looks decent...nose is basic cooked corn and cereal grains....body is light but doesn't seem to be in teh coors light category for lightness....actually a pleasant little sweetness to the flavor....clean..easy drinking...not bad for a light beer and the price...it would be interesting to do a blind taste test with this...Lite....and MGD Lite and High Life Lite and see which comes out in front....not much difference between the four if you ask me...
----Review 5-4-02---

Went to a party tonight...this was what was served...popped about 10...if you rate this against the bottom of the barrel price beers it's above average..the best thing about it is it doesn't taste horrible (A ringing endorsement huh)..it has very little smell, body, or taste but it doesn't offend you...Like I told the wife just now..I had about 10 but don't feel affected much and would much rather have 3 good bock's instead. If I was looking for a beer that I could drink a ton of without it actually tasting bad this would be ok....A really watered down low taste beer that like I said doesn't offend, but lacks everything that is good about beer. (1,215 characters)

Appearance is watered down tinkle yellow. The head pillows up real big and nice then dies off almost as fast. The smell is nearly non-existant, taste is surprisingly less offensive than the other ultra-cheap beers. I found this much more tolerable than that of Natural Light and Busch Light and even PBR! (back off fanboys, that trash is uber-swill!!). There is a tad of metallic aftertaste but it doesn't last long enough to bother. Mouthfeel is surprisingly smooth given the overall lack of flavor. Drinkability seems a bit high as it's so watered down and non-offensive. I could probably crush a 6-pack of tallboys and then get started on some real beer with no problem. (673 characters)

Poured a pale yellow colow with large white puffy head that rapidly disappeared. Smell is slight anf barely noticeable, with maybe a slight sweetness and light beer aroma present. Taste follows through with a very light flavor, with little malt or hops present. Finishes refreshing, but little else. OK as a spacer. (315 characters)

Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a pale yellow color with a small head. Smell is of corn, some malts. Taste is basically missing in action. Beer flavored water. Feels light in the mouth and has good drinkability. Overall not the worst light beer I have had, but nothing special. (275 characters)

The beast lite is obviously not going to be to great of a beer. And it really looks like carbonated water. But once you move past that you realize that this isn't the worst beer in the world. Quite crisp with a smooth carbonation level. Won't fill you up at all. A slight sweetness comes and goes rather quickly. Refreshing but boring. Not terrible. (349 characters)

Let me start by saying that it's difficult to rate a beer like this because obviously it isn't the best tasting, smelling, etc. But that's really not the point at all. This is a party beer meant to be drank from solo cups and cans. This is no Sierra Nevada Pale Ale but in my opinion when compared to keystone, coors, miller, and budlight, At $15 a 30 pack where I'm from you can't beat it for the price.

When poured into a pint glass there is an unexpectedly large head which dissipates quickly, leaving lacing more pronounced than other cheap beers.

The color is an unimpressive light yellow, there is no smell, and the taste is watery yet drinkable.

This is definately not a beer to pour into a glass, I only did it for the review. Just drink it from the can, but if I'm low on cash I prefer this to bud or coors anyday. (827 characters)

Pours from a tallboy 16 oz can a very clear, pale yellow color with a surprisingly decent cap of white foam. Retention is not too bad either and leaves a bit of lace here and there. Pretty decent looking light lager.

Green apples and light grains are about all I get on the nose here. It is not devoid of scent, but unfortunately what is there does not smell very appealing.

Carbonated water is the main flavor here with a bit of sweet corny grains making up the remainder. Surprisingly, it does have a noticeable hop bitterness and clean finish to it. It falls a bit short of average for a light lager, mainly due to the lack of discernable flavor. (651 characters)

Poured from a can into a pint glass.

A: The typical clear yellow straw color you're familiar with when you drink a light lager. Light head that fades fast and next to no lacing left behind.

S: Corn, ever so faint grains - typical.

T: Corn and cereal grains, ever so slight hops and malt. Next to nothing going on here.

M: Very light, moderate carbonation.

D: Excellent drinkability.

Pretty much what I expected from this one. (434 characters)

Pours a true, light gold color, and maintaines a thin lacy coating of head (better than most beers i have sampled in its class).

Smell is nothing spectacular, but pretty clean.

Mouthfeel is decent for a light beer of its class. I am drinking it rather warm though.

Taste is nothing special but decent for the price. If you are into this kind of stuff, i suggest it. It is affordible and drinkible - a recipie for disaster! (431 characters)

Pale gold and stinky. Right off the bat we must mention that this beer has only one purpose. Drinking mass quantities at extremely low prices. This is the ultimate college campus beer. And considering its purpose it's not that bad. It's pale, no head, doesn't smell good, watery, tastes like nothing with a touch of maltyness, blah blah blah. That doesn't matter. It's ten bucks a 30 pack. 98 calories and 3.5 carbs a piece. with a decent 4.5% alcohol. It's tolerable enough. 18-23 years-olds across America Should love this beer. I did a dozen years ago. I miss those days. (574 characters)

Appearance: Very watery and flat looking. Looks pale yellow, almost like murky water.

Smell: No real smell here...a bit of sourness I suppose.

Taste/Mouthfeel: Tastes and feel exactly like water. I kind of like this sweetness, but I'm not sure why. Also tastes a bit like sour corn, but again, it's mostly water.

Drinkability: Considering that water is the world's average drinkable beverage, this fits right into that category.

Overall: Honestly, this is not offensive. It's just very...tame. Will continue to give you gas the morning after... (548 characters)

This is a beer for an extremely hot summer day. It is difficult to drink if the temperature outside is less than 80°F and the beer is warmer than 32°F.

There is not color or head to this beer.

It lacks any real smell.

There is no ditinctive taste to this beer.

This beer is just a little thicker than water so it does not hang around the mouth.

There is nothing better than mowing the lawn on the hottest summber day and then slamming an ice cold MBL. There is nothing worse than snowblowing the driveway and having to choke down a MBL at any temperature. Don't ask me why it tase good in hot weather but that is the nature of the beast. (644 characters)

I am fairly certain that I've never actually poured one of these into a glass before. Usually, a big red plastic cup is the way to go, or the can, obviously. This was basically all I drank my first two years of college, because it was so cheap, and I didn't care one iota how it tasted. I prefer the old white cans that didn't have poker players ' pictures on the side.

Pale straw color and crystal clear body with a tiny glaze of cap. Smell is sweet and corny. Taste is similar but fairly weak and easy to ignore. Mouthfeel is likewise unmemorable. It is clean and relatively smooth. Good in hot weather or if you want to tie one on at a frat party. (651 characters)

Presentation: 12 oz can with no freshness date.

Appearance: Very clean watery look to it with a pale yellow hue and thin white lacing that doesn’t last to long.

Smell: A cereal smell to it with very little hops or malts; I also noted hints of corn and artificial starches.

Taste: Little malt flavor with grains and a abundant amount of fillers such as vegetables and corn starch.

Mouth-Feel: A very light bodied feel with crispiness and a finish that is bone dry.

Drink-Ability: One of those cheap beers that has no purpose except to get you Crunk. (565 characters)

BEAST LIGHT

Appearance-golden brown color, one inch head that is long gone very soon.

Smell-DNS, light grain, no hops, not much going on.

Taste-crisp, a twang as it leaves the mouth, while it was in there I detected a little bit of husky grain, not much else going on here, but wasn't entirely unpleasent.

Mouthfeel-Very odd grainy aftertaste, goes down ok but not smooth by any means.

Drinkability-at 9.99 a thirty pack you can have as many as you want, universally tolerated and respected by college kids everywhere.

Overall-Beast light manages to be leaps and bounds better than Beast, I have no explanation for that. It is not a good beer by any means but when you are low on funds this beer is suprisingly acceptable and even somewhat refreshing on a hot day. It doesn't have much flavor even compared to Bud Light, Miller Lite, or Coors Light but at least it had some as opposed to Natural Light, which was like water. You know what your in for when ya get it, enjoy. (993 characters)

The beer pours and extremely light gold. A thin, bubbly head quickly fades into nothing with barely any lacing. The smell is the average sickly-sweet scent of corn malts that are too weak to even cover up what little alcohol is here. The taste is not terrible. It's got that harsh, shitty malts & hops Beast taste, but toned down, so it is pretty tolerable. The mouthfeel is thin, but it goes well with the rest of the beer. And, as with all light beers, the drinkability is the best part. (489 characters)

a: pale golden, white head around an eigth inch, no retention time, very little lacing
s: corn, adjuncts, not much going on other than those
t: corn bitter....adjunct hops??? bitter in a not good way hard to describe
m: watery, smooth

overall this is an ok beer, decent drinkability because its so cheap and ice cold its dulled so much that its drinkable, maybe a lawn mowing beer (386 characters)

Poured from a can into a pint.

Pours light straw with bubbly effervescent head that disappears immediately.

Aroma is light corn and maybe hops...not sure. Bitter aroma has to be hops.

Flavor is thin and watery...corny flavors with DMS and wet cardboard smells. Not even a good macro lager as defined by the style guide, bad.

Water is the mouthfeel....water, with some bubbles. (380 characters)

Economical, readily available, very fizzy, beerish-tasting soda pop. Keep the expectations low and the serving temps even lower. I'm happy just to slake my thirst with ice cold Beast Light on a hot day when a real beer is too "busy". For what it is, it ain't bad and It has a more satisfying flavor than hyped-up Bud, in my opinion. It has no "beechwood aging" or the "finest rice" to nasty it up. It helps that it has no stupid marketing campaign to insult me, either.
Update: This beer has been bumped by Icehouse as my cheap beer-of-choice. For 15 to 20 cents more I can buy a more flavorful 6 or 12 pk of Icehouse in bottles at the grocery store.

Update 11/2005: Uh, there is now an ad campaign for Beast Light. It's kind of entertaining, but it does push a misguided macho agenda, IMO. So, if you live in the universe of this commercial, you'd better have quick reflexes as you pour yourself a Duvel or Chimay at your buddy's Super Bowl party lest you be crushed by a giant can of the Beast for being less than a "real man". (1,034 characters)

Poured a light straw hue with a one and a half finger foamy white head. There was decent retention and no lacing.

The smell featured a faint corn sweetness and a light hop.

The taste was started lightly sweet, slowly dried and actually finished with a slight doughiness. However, there was a wet cardboard element aftertaste.

The moiuthfeel was light and carbonated.

Overall a lower-tiered light macro. (414 characters)

Appearence: Pale and light. Perfectly clear with medium carbonation. Very thin head. No lacing.

Smell: Hardly even smells like anything, let alone beer!

Taste: Very light taste.

Feel: Carbonated water.

Drinkability: Nothing to stop you from drinking all you want.

For a really cheap beer, I thought it was actually better than I thought it was going to be. The first time I tried this was on a hot summers day after work in 2012. The special at the bar was " short pitcher of "the beast" for 3 dollars. The flavor of the beer was ok, but nothing special. The look of the beer actually varied from a dark brownish color to a light yellowish color. For a daily special at a bar it wasn't a terrible bargain or price, but as of rating it was. (475 characters)

A pale yellow color with a big fizzy white head that faded very quickly,no lacing. Aroma of corn, cardboard, and sweet baby vomit.Flavor at first is almost nonexistant, but as it warms a couple of degrees it takes on an odd sweet metallic taste, thin body and stinky finish. I can drink this if I am dying from thirst but save your money and buy some real beer eh. (360 characters)
