I thought this beer was fairly decent, but nothing that I would drink all of the time. It had a good taste and ok smell to it. On a hot summers day while cooking on the grill, i thought it really hit the spot, but most anything probably would. The mouthfeel of the beer was also average for a lager. This is the type of beer that my dad and grandpa would drink, but not really my favorite.

Appearance – Light yellow body with a smallish head that gave me the bob.

Smell – The typical grain aroma is complimented by a tinge of sweetness here, although I can’t make it out (essence of gummi bears, no doubt).

Taste – More on the sweet side then most macros. There also may be a hint of malt in there, but it’s hard to tell.

Mouthfeel – Decent mouthfeel and smooth on the cheeks. It’s actually kind of foamy in the mouth, which is strange because I didn’t get much head on the pour. User error maybe?

Drinkability – This is the High Life’s strong suit, IMHO. The sweetness helps this one go down well.

Comments – I was ruing the day when I had to face this beer again, because I sucked these down as a kid like they were the best things in the world. Now, after educating my pallet over the years, I have some perspective on it.

It really is the champagne of beers. The foamy mouthfeel is like a cheap bottle of Korbel stirred with a straw just before drinking. It’s also light and sweet, like many types of champagne.

It’s not so bad – and it brings back some great memories. Here’s to you!

I admit that I've got a thing for "Grandpa's Beers." Special X, High Life, Papst, and Old Style all do it for me.

This is one that I always keep around in the fridge. At $9 for a case of bottles, High Life makes the perfect “just in case” beer. It’s like a safety net. I like having it near by, knowing that if my obnoxious cousin comes over I won’t have to offer him a Bell’s or something because trusty Miller is there for the non-beer drinker’s beer drinker. Oh, and this beer is called Miller, just plain Miller, not High Life.

Let’s start with the look. The beer itself is nothing special. It looks like liquid sweet corn. The head is thin, white, and not lasting. Overall, the appearance is what you would expect from just about any macro.

The bottle, however, is a different story all together. It features the famous Miller Girl Over the Moon label, which was created long ago by famed industrial designer Brooks Stevens. Stevens is kind of like the Frank Lloyd Wright of industrial design and is probably most known for the invention of the Oscar Meyer Wiener Mobile.

Anyways, the fact that the bottle has a small but kick ass print that was designed by an awesome Wisconsinite gives it a little appearance bonus in my book.

As to the taste, it’s corn syrup. Nothing more, nothing less.

The mouth feel’s not bad, thin, mildly carbonated, refreshing.

What I really like is this beer’s drinkability. It goes down so easy but doesn’t go through me like lite does. I can throw back a bunch of these and I don’t feel full but I do feel like I’m drinking beer, not water.

This is a solid beer and better than bud by leaps and bounds.

Miller High Life... 5% alcohol content.

A- Pours a crisp and clear light golden fluid with massive tight and loosly packed bubbly head. One inch head falls to half inch and stays around thicker around walls of glass... decent lacing.

S- Rough corn oils that remind me of cooking oil, light metallic scents and mild grassy tint.

T-M- Similer to smell corn husk, sharp grainy bite with a little bitterness that almost comes off as a metal flavor. Mouthfeel is not that pleasing with tangy astringentcy and dry finish.

D- Miller drinkablity and gets the job done on the most basic level. Beer...GOOD

Although this beer is made by Miller which represents the American Beer Powerhouses (Miller, Coors, Bud...); of which i do not like at al. This beer actually isnt too bad for a mainstream american light lager. It has a light body with a decent amount of flavor. It isnt my first choice but Miller High Life actually isnt that bad and its about the same price as Natural Light which i will never again drink....plus High Life has a great slogan- "The Champagne of Beers"!

When I need to go for a macro pils, I invariably pick this one over all others. Pours a light yellowish color with a small bubbly white head that does not stick around too long. Smell is of grain and then another dose of grain. Taste is not very complex with a nice, non overpowering malt sweetness, slight hop flavor in the background and a nice crisp finish on the flavor and the mouthfeel that is refreshing on a hot day. When I don't want something too complex and just a refreshing brew on a hot day, I'll take this over any other macro any day of the week.

Poured from a big 32 oz. clear bottle into my pint glass. Clear golden yellow color with a bubbly 1 inch head on top. Actually leaves a bit of lacing on the glass as well. Fast rising carbonation. Aromas are mainly of sweet grain and corn along with a bit of an herbal/grassy hop as well. The sweetness makes this a bit less offensive than similar macros. Not bad.

First sip brings a nice sweet maltiness that's a mix of cereal grains and corn. The grassy hops bring in a bit of bitterness on the way down. Overall it's fairly smooth and has a decent flavor for a Miller brew. It's actually quite refreshing and easy to drink...one of the better macros I've tried.

Mouthfeel is pretty thin, but there's a nice steady carbonation that makes it feel a bit fuller. This is not something I'd pick up very often...but for a change of pace, as a hot summer lawnmower brew or if I'm out and there's not much selection...I'd choose a High Life over other macros.

For cheap macro swill, High Life (from 12oz. bottles) is hard to beat.

Typical American macro lager looks, apart from the slightly foamy head that actually tends to stick around. Smell is harsh, grainy, and not particualrly pleasant.

Tastes very grainy. Highly carbonated corn. Some malt sweetness with just a faint taste of hops towards the clean finish. Mouthfeel would be hard to match by a marco lager.

The beer to get with buddies who refuse anything that it's straw yellow and dirt cheap. The obvious choice for the poor college student as well.

12oz clear bottle wtih classic labeling. No freshness dating, or at least one that is consumer friendly.

Golden hued beer, bright, with a patchy white foam head comprised of mixed bubble sizes. Large bubbled slow carbonation. Lacing has some stick, with a moderate level of head retention.

Ultra-clean nose on this one, faint grain and an even fainter freshly husked corn aroma.

Even, medium bodied brew. Fizzy carbonation. Crisp. Smooth, with a creamy carbonation feel on the palate. Mild steely character in the flavor, some watery malty / creamed corn sweetness that sticks to the palate. Touch of malt husks, corn grits, with a drying edge. Corn flavor gets more pronounced as the beer warms and casts a blandness across the palate. Hop character is nearly non-existent with this tasting. Finishes with some residual dextriny sweetness and corn. Not overly clean, but it passes.

Drink ice cold for maximum enjoyment, but mostly so those corn flavors stay where they should.
