12 oz twist-off clear bottle poured into a pilsner glass.
5.0% ABV, APR1413 in yellow on neck.
A - Redd's Apple Ale pours with an effervescent roar that rivals the sound of some soda. The loose white head disappears before it can even be captured on camera leaving the clear "beer" a pale golden yellow color.
S - Redd's has a distinct aroma of apple akin to a cider but it disappears almost as quickly as the head which helped retain it. No real beer aroma here. Poor show.
T - A blend of apples presents itself with two varieties coming to my mind, but it's not quite as cider-like as the aroma is, instead, the flavor has some grainy, cheap pale malt in the background, grounding it to the "ale" part of it's name.
M - Redd's Apple Ale is just as effervescent as the loud sound makes it out to be. It's harshly carbonated with a bite on the finish but a nicely balanced level of dry sweetness that's neither cloying nor bland. This light bodied ale drinks very similar to a lager.
O - Redd's Apple Ale barely passes for a beer with apple flavor as opposed to a cider with a splash of malt (which it basically is). New to the scene, this ale drinks like a lager, and hops on the trend wagon of ciders but, without a memorable, unique product, all that's left are their ads and I have a feeling people will move on. That's not to say it's a bad product, Redd's Apple Ale is just forgettable.
