On tap @ Bir & Fud in Rome. Served in a tulip glass.

A - Medium yellow with some orange hues throughout. One finger of thick white head with good retention and good lacing

S - Belgian yeast, sweet candy sugar and a lighter clove aroma

T - Belgian yeast and sweet candy sugar up front. Some bready malts and a light clove presence. Slightly warming abv. The overall flavour profile is very muted and somewhat bland.

M - Medium body with a decent chew. Light carbonation.

From 750 ml bottle at cellar temperature, this beer opened with an explosive 'bang'. It lost about one-third of its volume in the ensuing rush of foam. Despite the unfortunate start, however, the beer itself is a winner. It's a hazy golden color with a thick sudsy head that leaves large tufts of lace hanging on the glass. The aroma is fresh and invigorating, with a lot of grass, citrus, and a touch of malt. The flavor has a lot more spice than comes out in the aroma...It's hard to place, but it seems like there's a mix of pepper and coriander (and maybe rosemary????) Also, the beer has a nice pale malt profile. Soft mouth feel. The beer hides it's alcohol moderately well. Very drinkable.

Bought this at Bir & Fud in Rome. Has a lot number of 08/11 and a consumption date of 09/12. So here goes ...

Bottle with a cap, opened with a pop but no gushing. Poured aggressively into a Bruery tulip glass, barely produced a half inch soap bubble head. Body is a hazy gold. Foam dissipates quickly to a cap and ring, although it is replenished with some shaking. Curtains of light lacing on the glass.

Tropical fruits on the nose, with banana, mango, and pineapple, accompanied by coriander spice, sweet toffee, butter, and funky yeast.

Tastes moderately malty on the front palate, then of fruit punch, especially banana, pineapple, and some strawberry, followed by sweet toffee, and a green grass lightly hoppy finish. Not nearly as funky as the nose first suggests. An acceptable tasting Belgian style pale, but somewhat muted in taste and not outstanding.

Mouthfeel is light. A little under-carbonated with less than typical foam detracts from the style, which in this case, the beer should live up to or take in a more interesting direction.

Doesn't really live up to the style in taste or in mouthfeel. This would be much better if it were more carbonated, maybe not a good bottle. Taste, however, is also muted.

Beautiful deep golden blond color. White foam, very compact, a bit less on the top.
Good smell, malty, fresh and open wide.
Hop, hay, white flowers. Fresh and inviting.
A good dry hay, and maybe a bit of honey.
Good taste, too, with a light malty start, and honey, Then again very fresh, again fresh hops.
Average body, great drinkability.
Honeyed malt in the aftertaste, with hop in the back, delicate.
