Notes/Commercial Description:
Hoptimistic IPA (India Pale Ale) has intense hop bitterness and flavor. This ale is further characterized by fruity, floral and citrus-like aromas due to American-variety hops. This copper/orange hued ale has a nicely balanced medium maltiness which contributes to a medium body that goes down easy, leaving a lingering bitterness that is hard to resist.

Poured this American IPA from a 22 oz brown bottle. Poured into a pint glass. It poured a cloudy orangish color. It produced an ultra thick and heavy white head. Head retention was excellent. Very nice sticky lacing left behind on the glass. Aroma was full of citrus and pine. The ale was medium in body, smooth and refreshing. The taste is bitter, citrus and full of malt. Bitterness lasts from the start all the way to the finish. This AIPA is hopped nicely, not to aggressive. Very good IPA, my first beer that I have sampled from Charleville, impressed. A road trip might be in order.

Received as an extra in a trade and poured into my Duvel tulip.

A - The bottle was not a gusher, however, upon hitting the glass it just BILLOWED and gushed over the glass. Sigh. What remains is a slightly hazy orange hue with a one finger foamy head that leaves loads of sticky lacing. Would be much better if not for the initial rush of head.

S - Aromas of light floral hops, faint malt, light citrus. All relatively generic, though, appealing.

T - Taste is similar to the nose. The hops are more floral than anything and there is a faint medicinal quality to the lingering bitter finish. the malts are subdued but the hops all play off as a hodgepodge of generic taste. While tasty there is nothing that just pops.

M - Carbonation is good, a bit on the sharper side, but feels a bit watery.

O - Overall, this is an okay IPA. Nothing too special.

Pours out to a thin head that lasts and some lacing. Color is orange amber and cloudy/chunky. Aroma is US hop-dominant, which smells nice...but also smells of bread yeast and burnt plastic (phenolic?). Flavor is a muted version of USA-style IPA with lower levels of perceived bitterness and not much of a malt backbone. Thin Mouthfeel. This is certainly drinkable but commercially it is very much marginal and not worth pursuing.
