Notes/Commercial Description:
Hoptimistic IPA (India Pale Ale) has intense hop bitterness and flavor. This ale is further characterized by fruity, floral and citrus-like aromas due to American-variety hops. This copper/orange hued ale has a nicely balanced medium maltiness which contributes to a medium body that goes down easy, leaving a lingering bitterness that is hard to resist.

Pours a dirty orangeish/brown, with a thin off-white head. Lots of big yeast particles hanging out. That was with a carefull pour, I left about an ounce left in the bottle which was pure yeast. Aromas of light citrus. Taste begins with a bright lemony flavor, followed by some apricot. The finish is a bit grassy, and piney. Mouthfeel is pretty good. Overall a pretty good IPA, though the turbidity of it detracts from the flavor a bit. Curious to know what yeast strain they are using that doesn't drop bright. At least the beer isnt filtered though!

Received as an extra in a trade and poured into my Duvel tulip.

A - The bottle was not a gusher, however, upon hitting the glass it just BILLOWED and gushed over the glass. Sigh. What remains is a slightly hazy orange hue with a one finger foamy head that leaves loads of sticky lacing. Would be much better if not for the initial rush of head.

S - Aromas of light floral hops, faint malt, light citrus. All relatively generic, though, appealing.

T - Taste is similar to the nose. The hops are more floral than anything and there is a faint medicinal quality to the lingering bitter finish. the malts are subdued but the hops all play off as a hodgepodge of generic taste. While tasty there is nothing that just pops.

M - Carbonation is good, a bit on the sharper side, but feels a bit watery.

O - Overall, this is an okay IPA. Nothing too special.

Pours out to a thin head that lasts and some lacing. Color is orange amber and cloudy/chunky. Aroma is US hop-dominant, which smells nice...but also smells of bread yeast and burnt plastic (phenolic?). Flavor is a muted version of USA-style IPA with lower levels of perceived bitterness and not much of a malt backbone. Thin Mouthfeel. This is certainly drinkable but commercially it is very much marginal and not worth pursuing.
