American amber ale, with a rich red hue. Made with American variety hops used to produce a medium-high hop bitterness, flavor, and aroma. The hops help to balance the malty caramel character. With a medium-full body, this ale has subtle fruity aromas and flavors sure to please any beer lovers palate!

Pours a clear, amber/brown color. 1/4 inch head of an off-white color. Good retention and good lacing. Smells of sweet malt, slight roasted malt, slight earthy malt, and slight hops. Fits the style of an American Amber / Red Ale. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of sweet malt, citrus and dry hops, slight roasted malt, slight earthy malt, and slight grain. Overall, very drinkable, good blend, and good body.

Picked this (and 2 other Charleville brews) as singles at a Trader Joe’s in St. Louis.

Appearance: Hazy amber, with only slight carbonation, and no lace to speak of. Could use some improvement here, already. Not a promising start.

Aroma: Caramel and toffee maltiness, and a hint of sweetness. Pretty solid amber characteristics, so points for being “on style”.

Taste: Rich and malty sweet, with more of those caramel and toffee notes, and a slight hint of fruitiness in there. I get a touch of hop bitterness coming in near the finish, too. Despite the low carbonation, this one’s pretty decent for the style, though not one I’d pursue again.
