Thanks to Ryan for the bottle.
"Whole foods market exclusive" sticker on top of the label.
Pours a dark, murky chestnut body with a thin white head.
Aromas of sweet cola, raisin, and earthy spice.
Flavors don't stray from the aroma. Caramel, cola, fruity esters of raisin, cherry and banana, and notes of rye, earthy spice, and clove.
Medium body with plenty of carbonation to lift it off the palate.
Very drinkable. Not too sweet, not cloying. Good balance.

Served this Belgian Dark Ale on tap, in a pint glass. This Belgian Dark Ale poured a reddish brown color, produced a thin tannish head and retention was merely average. There was some lacing left on the glass. The aroma of this ale consisted of spicy rye and sweet malted grain. Full bodied, this ale contained sweet malted grain, spicy rye and a slight hint of carmel. Overall, while not a traditional Dark Ale, or a Dubble as Charleville claims, the Rye used here gives a otherwise traditional style a unique flavor profile. I actually enjoyed this Americanized Belgian Beer more then I do the real thing!

A St Louis Whole Foods exclusive from Charleville
A - pours a reddish brown without much of a head on it
S - smells of sweet, dark fruits with some spicy rye
T - taste is similar to the nose. Dark fruits and sugary malts combine with a bit of spicy rye malt. I was hoping the rye would be a little more prominent, but the flavor profile is exactly as one would expect it to be from the label (a dubbel with rye).
M - full bodied that goes down really smoothly
D - this is a pretty solid beer. I have seen it at Whole Foods for quite some time and finally pulled the trigger on it. This was the first time I have seen rye with a dubbel and say that it worked well.

Pours a clear, dark brown color. 2/3 inch head of an off-white color. Good retention and decent lacing. Smells of sweet malt, slight alcohol, spice, slight yeast, rye, and slight floral hop. Fits the style of a Belgian Dark Ale. Mouth feel is smooth and crisp with an average carbonation level. Tastes of spice, slight yeast, slight sweet malt, slight alcohol, slight hop, hint of roasted malt, and slight dark citrus. Overall, a complex beer, with good body, aroma, and blend.
