GROWLER HEAVEN!!! Wow, this is the mecca for filling a growler with great craft beer. I'm not talking about normal shit either, they have some semi-rare and solid rotating craft beer from everywhere + locals. The price is a little high, but where else are you going to get a growler of BCBS, Heine Bros Imperial Coffee Stout, 90 Min, BCS, New Albanian, BBC, lots of DIPA's, Porters, etc..

No one in the area can compete with the taps they offer.

The bottle selection is money too. They usually have all the hard to find beers on the shelf after they are gone at other stores.

I live in Naptown, but love coming back home to grab a few good growlers to take back.

Good place for both Bourbon and beer, among other alcoholic needful things. Very good broad selection and prices are fairly low across the board. I don't always find rare releases here but the standard offerings are quite good. Some interesting bourbon choices here too that I don't see at some of the mom and pop stores. Love Liquor Barn.

This is one of the finest stores you will ever go to. The place is the size of a pretty good supermarket and is always well organized and clean. They have a huge selection of craft beer on tap and will sell you a 64 oz. growler or even a 32 oz. "howler'. As far as packaged beer they have everything from a wide selection of crafts to every AAL and everything in between. They have a huge selection of crafts that they sell by the bottle (10% discount if you buy 12). Their walk in cooler is the size of most C-Stores. Prices are well within acceptable range.

Although not completely related, their selection of bourbon and just about every other spirit is unrivaled in the Louisville KY area. They also have a huge section devoted to party supplies. This really is a one stop shopping place for a party.

This place is worth going a little out of the way to get to.

The Springhurst store is the largest of its kind in Louisville and probably the state. The growler wall is fantastic and having a brew at the bar discussing the merits of the concoction with the Knowledgeble staff makes the experience all the better. Special tapping nights and food trucks outside only make it better. If you need a hard to find beer in Ky or one of the great Bourbons, then you have found the place

This store is the reason I started seeking out craft beer. The store is roughly the size of a medium sized supermarket, and had a whole supermarket isle dedicated to a nice selection of craft beer. Each type of liquor has a supermarket sized isle dedicated to it, so the selection for any type of alcohol is definitely better than average. Other than that it has a humidor, frozen party food selection and fireworks. I have not found another store with the selection and variety this store has. Will definitely stop next time I am in Kentucky.

I have always enjoyed this place. They offer wide selection of beers on tap to-go called "Growler Heaven". They have always had an above average selection of regional brews such as Three Floyd's, Founder's, Bell's and Southern Tier. But know, this place has moved up the scale for me recently. I managed to score a bottle of Founder's CBS and DFH 120 Minute. This place was definitely above average, but now they are amazing in my opinion. Not too many places in Louisville had CBS. Cheers to Drew, the beer guru at Liquor Barn!

A - 4.5 The Liquor Barn is a fun place to shop for me because it makes me feel like a kid in a candy store. The people are mostly friendly and it is usually busy because it is one of the most comprehensive stores in town.

Q - 5 Everything here is kept clean and organized. The products are definitely top-notch.

Ser - 4 Usually the staff has been friendly but they aren't always the most experienced or knowledgeable. Generally helpful nonetheless.

Sel - 5 I don't know that I've been to a better store all-around as far as total selection. The growler station has at least 30-40 taps and generally a great mix of locals, imports, and micro brews. There are a great supply of bottles as well, not to mention wine and liquor being just as competitive.

F - 4.5 There's a nice selection of good food here also, all of which I've had is of very good quality.

V - $$ Given the selection and availability of most products this store has a good value. It is very fair in price. The growlers are borderline inexpensive depending on what you want. Most bottled offerings are about what to expect for a store of this size. I wish they had more sales, however, but it won't keep me from going back when in town.

I live about 2 hrs. from this store and I have made the trip twice now I can tell you that I can see myself making a run over there about once a month.

The service is second to none. Very friendly people and very willing to help us out. Both times we've gone were because we've called ahead to see if they had something in stock and both times they were willing to set back what we were going after so we would be assured that it would be there when we got there.

Variety of selection is outstanding in the craft brew department. I've seen several cases of mainstream items so one can get more than a 4-pack if they want. They have an excellent assortment of micro-brews as well as imports. Not many west coast selections but then again who does (outside of the major micro breweries).

Growler Heaven is just that, HEAVEN!! Utterly amazing. Probably 25-40 different offerings at any given time. Both major labels like Bells, Avery, Dogfish Head, Flying Dog, Founders, and local offerings like BBC, New Albanian, Upland, and Sheltowee. It's great to see them giving good store space to local companies.

They are only slightly on the pricey side but they are in a major market therefore they can afford to be. All in all they are a fair value priced store. They make up for it with their service and dedication to customer satisfaction.

All I can say is ... wow! Upon walking in there is a collection of 20 or so taps that feature everything from bells to FFF to a collection of locals. You can taste a 2 oz sample for .50 to 1.50 depending on the beer or get a 6 oz pour for a couple bucks or just get a growler to go. With California's laws this kind of thing would be impossible. This station coupled with the selection and the fact that you can split 6 packs makes this one of the best big block type beer stores I have ever been too. Although it might be a little large and corporate for some I would consider it a great stop if you are looking for craft brew in louisville.

Having visited pretty much every Liquor Barn in Louisville and Lexington I can say that this one is by far the best on a day-to-day basis. Always plentiful stock of domestics and imports and the first Liquor Barn to receive any special releases. Plus, they don't do any silly limits or hide the beer anywhere. It's first come, first serve. Walked in the other night and saw 8 bottles of Goose Island Rare Bourbon County Brand Stout on the shelf. Bought three of them and no one raised an eyebrow.

If you're interested in sampling beers they have a great collection of taps/growler fills and a nice wall of singles. This is not the most convenient Liquor Barn from my house, but I still make the drive out here regularly just because of the quality of this location.

I came to visit a friend in Louisville, and made him aware we were in fact coming here. Knowing he had no choice, we drove the 20 miles from his place. I read the reviews online before I even left, and they were pretty well spot on. They had an amazing selection. Even better then the selection were the prices. They were across the board 2-3 dollars cheaper on everything. I saw Apt 12 for 9.99 there, normally 12.99 in Indy. Even there everyday 6pk's like: Sierra Nevada, Founder's, FFF. The tap selection was what most intrigued me, a multitude of choices and again, well priced. The way it is set up is pretty awesome. You can buy a 2oz or 5oz sample to try before you buy. That way you don't have to pull the trigger blindly on a 15-40 growler. (Yes, 40 bucks for some BCS, seems fair, or Vertical Epic 10-10-10)

I enjoyed everything about this place except the service. I don't know if it was because it was rainy/snowy/cold and dark outside or what, but the cashier was pretty off putting. Even so, I can just chalked that up to a bad day. If your're in the area...check this place out, it's worth it.

Stopped in this place on my way down form Chicago to Naples FL. I pretty much only came here to get a growler filled with something interesting, mostly because growlers can only be filled at a brewery in IL.

This store is very massive, easily rivals most Binny's in Chicagoland which is saying a lot. It looked very clean, and well organized. The 12ish or so growler taps were right near the entrance and a guy helped us right away. My goal was to get something local and they had some good stuff on. I went with the BBC Brandy Barrel aged Old Ale for $10.99. Seriously, a growler of a barrel aged high gravity beer for $11? I will take it!

The beer isle is wide and organized mostly by brewery. They had a fairly large local section, most of which I was unaware of. I didn't want to waste all of my vacation beer money on my first stop (although I easily could) so I just picked out a 750mL of a BBC reserve beer.

Overall a gem of a place in what seems like a high traffic area of the city. If I was a local I would be proud to call this my local store.
