Alcohol by volume (ABV): 8.00%

Availability: Limited (brewed once)

Notes / Commercial Description:
Gianduja is the name given to a European style of chocolate made from milk chocolate and hazelnut paste. Pronunciation: zhahn-DOO-yuh. This unique rye beer starts with a delicately dark malty background that includes four different types of malted rye for an in depth layered rye backbone to start things off. Look for flavors of milk chocolate from the additions of lactose (milk sugar), coco nibs and hazelnut paste added to the brew. Overall undercurrents of dark fruit with bready, biscuit flavors that last from start to finish. To top things of we aged this fine Rye beer in Templeton Rye Whiskey Barrels.

A - Served a rich dark brown-black color with a finger of tannish head. The head fades down slowly leaving some nice lacing behind.

S - Aroma is full of deep roasted chocolate malts and some milk sweetness. There is also some nuttiness, dark fruit, and some of the rye mixed in as well.

T - Starts off with deep roasted chocolate malt and some lactate sweetness. There is a touch of nuttiness and rye. Through the middle some more nutty flavors and dark fruit come through. The finish is a mix of roasted and sweet flavors that linger.

M - Medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation. The beer feels rich and smooth. The finish is a mix of a sweet and dry.

D - Very drinkable. Well balanced and a very interesting mix of flavors. The brown ale and stout mix was great, but could have used a bit more rye flavor.
