Ok selection, however the number of beers offered has declined in the last year. They have the standard well distributed American and Belgian beers and not much else.

My major gripe is that they do not rotate their stock at all. If you are not very careful you will find that you have bought a two year old IPA. They are not much on proper storage either. These are fatal flaws in my book. They wouldn't treat their food this way. The Joe Canal down the block is a much better choice even though it is slightly more expensive.

I read about this Wegman's here on BA and decided to check it out when my wife was sent on assignment nearby and I had a car all day to play. Weee!!!

I had been to one Wegman's before, in Williamsville (Transit Road) in the Buffalo area. The food there was nice, but the beer selection was only alright. This store in Princeton offers many more choices.

It is, in fact, a huge liquor store, with a separate entrance from the food market itself. Once inside, you'll find that it is stocked with mostly wine and hard liquor, but worry not. At the end of the store they have the beer- about four sections/shelves, mostly refrigerated.

I appreciated all the brands I can't get in New York City, such as Terrapin, New Holland, Flying Fish, Yards and Bar Harbor from Maine. But I'm rating quality a little low because the organization was haphazard. There were bombers mixed with six-packs, beers from all over disorganized and mixed together... not so cool.

Selection is real nice, though, with most every major brand in the East Coast available. So is the pricing, surprising for a gourmet store in chichi Princeton. A four-pack of Double Simcoe was $9.99 ($3 cheaper than in NYC), and a bomber of Moylan's Imperial Stout was $5.99. You get the idea.

There are some quality European imports, cases of Ommegang, a ton of Ithaca Flower Power on display... and yet most of the store -make no mistake- is devoted not just to wine and liquor but macro light beer (by the case, mind you).

Service was pretty much non-existent. Nobody came out to help me or offer help, but the cashier sure was nice! :-)

Still, this is a very good choice for beer in the Princeton area. I'd like to compare it to Joe Canal's nearby, but alas I could not find it (damn suburban mega-malls!)

Great beer store in a corner of a HUGE supermarket in Princeton right of Route 1. Excellent selection including lots of Dogfish Head, Victory, Hoppin Frog, Weyerbacher, Brooklyn, Unibroue, Yards, Founders, etc etc. Lots of Belgians and other good European beer. RateBeer ratings displayed next to a lot of beers, which is awesome. Huge, spacious store. Lots of wine sold too, but who cares about that? Loaded way the hell up on craft beer for my little sister's college graduation, because you know everyone else is drinking BMC at these things. Prices reasonable.

I finally decided to check out this Wegman's liquor store and I'm glad I did. I always assumed they had wine and domestic beer. I found that they had an impressive selection of different brews. They have a big beer section in the back and it's packed with domestics, belgians, germans, as well as ciders, lambics and meads. Most of these were refridgerated and they offer packs as well as many singles to choose. There is an older guy there with a mustache and he seemed very knowledgeable (sorry can't remember his name). This place is super convenient for adding awesome beer to your shooping list in one trip at one place.

Wegmans is my go-to place for beer in princeton. they have a very good seleciton of belgians and all of the standard beers for which one could look. have the whole lot of samuel smith's and young's, and in general a good representation of birtish beers, both warm and on ice. the thing i like the most is the constant stocking of the holiday gift packs of the belgian beers, they always seem to have one of the beer+glassware combo packs, which I like cause it involves a free glass essentially. the beer selection is relegated to the back and like most other princeton shops, there is no staff back there to help as they wouldn't want to offend any of the pompous asses that seem to populate princeton. so, basically your on your own. the only thing that I really dislike are the goofy hours they have, always seem to be closing too early.

The Princeton Wegmans is located on the west bound side of US 1 in a large shopping plaza with a Wal-Mart, Best Buy, and a Bed, Bath, and Beyond. It's located on the far right side of the plaza closest to US 1. Since you can't have a liquor store inside a grocery store in the state New Jersey, there's a separate entrance to the liquor store off to the right side of Wegmans. In case you don't see it, you can walk into the main entrance and there's an entrance over by the cafe area. When you walk in, you're going to notice that it's a lot like the grocery part of the store. That means it's big, extremely clean, and very organized. It's so damn clean that you can eat off the floors. It's a narrow liquor store with wood paneling floors and wood shelves. If you're here for the beer, then go straight back to the store pass all he wine and liquor. When you reach the back of the store, you'll see 750's on wine racks, an open fridge to the left, a fridge with doors next to that, cases in the middle, a room temp rack on the back right wall, and yet another open fridge along the back wall. Basically, everywhere you look, there's beer and more beer.

I originally thought the service here was split between the two clerks all the way up at the front of the store. That all changed when I walked passed an employee stocking cases of beer with a six pack of Stone Levitation in my hands. He mentioned that he hasn't gotten around to try this Stone beer yet, but since it's from Stone, he said that it has to be good. When I was talking to him, another employee walked up and he gave me a brief description of the beer. They also went on to say that they would like to start a beer tasting, but due to local laws, that's not going to happen anytime soon. I'm sure the beer employees are readily available if you need assistance, but if they're not, you have to deal with the two store clerks up at the front of the store.

Now for their beer selection! On the wine racks is where you'll find 750's of Belgian beers like St Bernardus, Lindeman's, and La Chouffe. You'll also find some American Belgian styles of beer like Ommegang. The open fridge to the left of the wine racks and the one along the back wall is where you can find American, German, and English 4 and 6 packs of craft beers. The fridge with the doors is where you can find the macros with the occasional craft beer like Sam Adams and Sierra Nevada. The room temp shelves on the back right wall are where you can find the cream of crop Wegmans craft beer selection. This is where you can find bombers, 750's, and more 4 and 6 packs of your favorite craft beers. Their craft beer selection consists of Victory, Flying Fish, River Horse, Stone, Rogue, DFH, Rochefort, North Coast, Stoudt's, Smuttynose, one 750 of Jolly Pumpkin, Bear Republic, and quite a few more that can't remember right now. The selection usually consists of the brewery's regular offerings with maybe a seasonal here and there.

In the end, they have a nice solid offering of craft beers. It's a great place to visit, but I wouldn't travel very far to visit this Wegmans. That is unless you want to do a one stop trip for food and beer. After you visit Triumph in downtown Princeton and you're heading out of town via US 1, then you make a stop here to pick up a few craft beers.
