This store has a fairly large selection including a lot of local items. There are new items as well as seasonal and some hard to find items. The create your own six pack is a great option I use frequently as they have a large selection of singles. Great way to try things without commiting to a six pack. Very important also is I have never seen a bottle covered in dust from sitting in the store to long

Updated as of December 2019 - still an excellent selection of beers. Lots of cold storage. Import selection is sparse, but that seems to be par for the course here in central Jersey.

As of December 2016, the beer department has moved to the opposite side of the store in a completely NEW space. The whole beer, wine, and spirits selection is much larger and the selection has most definitely expanded since it moved. Even though its in a grocery store, the vibe is pretty cool and very open. Macro selection is exactly what you'd expect. Imports are solid, not a hug selection, but they have most of the big names. As for craft - the selection is really outstanding for central Jersey. They have all the big names, and a good selection of the local NJ beers including Magnify. Dates and freshness were spot on. Service was great - staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. This place is currently MUCH better than the old reviews would lead you to believe. A top choice for grabbing stuff in the area.

Ok selection, however the number of beers offered has declined in the last year. They have the standard well distributed American and Belgian beers and not much else.

My major gripe is that they do not rotate their stock at all. If you are not very careful you will find that you have bought a two year old IPA. They are not much on proper storage either. These are fatal flaws in my book. They wouldn't treat their food this way. The Joe Canal down the block is a much better choice even though it is slightly more expensive.

I read about this Wegman's here on BA and decided to check it out when my wife was sent on assignment nearby and I had a car all day to play. Weee!!!

I had been to one Wegman's before, in Williamsville (Transit Road) in the Buffalo area. The food there was nice, but the beer selection was only alright. This store in Princeton offers many more choices.

It is, in fact, a huge liquor store, with a separate entrance from the food market itself. Once inside, you'll find that it is stocked with mostly wine and hard liquor, but worry not. At the end of the store they have the beer- about four sections/shelves, mostly refrigerated.

I appreciated all the brands I can't get in New York City, such as Terrapin, New Holland, Flying Fish, Yards and Bar Harbor from Maine. But I'm rating quality a little low because the organization was haphazard. There were bombers mixed with six-packs, beers from all over disorganized and mixed together... not so cool.

Selection is real nice, though, with most every major brand in the East Coast available. So is the pricing, surprising for a gourmet store in chichi Princeton. A four-pack of Double Simcoe was $9.99 ($3 cheaper than in NYC), and a bomber of Moylan's Imperial Stout was $5.99. You get the idea.

There are some quality European imports, cases of Ommegang, a ton of Ithaca Flower Power on display... and yet most of the store -make no mistake- is devoted not just to wine and liquor but macro light beer (by the case, mind you).

Service was pretty much non-existent. Nobody came out to help me or offer help, but the cashier sure was nice! :-)

Still, this is a very good choice for beer in the Princeton area. I'd like to compare it to Joe Canal's nearby, but alas I could not find it (damn suburban mega-malls!)

Great beer store in a corner of a HUGE supermarket in Princeton right of Route 1. Excellent selection including lots of Dogfish Head, Victory, Hoppin Frog, Weyerbacher, Brooklyn, Unibroue, Yards, Founders, etc etc. Lots of Belgians and other good European beer. RateBeer ratings displayed next to a lot of beers, which is awesome. Huge, spacious store. Lots of wine sold too, but who cares about that? Loaded way the hell up on craft beer for my little sister's college graduation, because you know everyone else is drinking BMC at these things. Prices reasonable.

I finally decided to check out this Wegman's liquor store and I'm glad I did. I always assumed they had wine and domestic beer. I found that they had an impressive selection of different brews. They have a big beer section in the back and it's packed with domestics, belgians, germans, as well as ciders, lambics and meads. Most of these were refridgerated and they offer packs as well as many singles to choose. There is an older guy there with a mustache and he seemed very knowledgeable (sorry can't remember his name). This place is super convenient for adding awesome beer to your shooping list in one trip at one place.

Wegmans is my go-to place for beer in princeton. they have a very good seleciton of belgians and all of the standard beers for which one could look. have the whole lot of samuel smith's and young's, and in general a good representation of birtish beers, both warm and on ice. the thing i like the most is the constant stocking of the holiday gift packs of the belgian beers, they always seem to have one of the beer+glassware combo packs, which I like cause it involves a free glass essentially. the beer selection is relegated to the back and like most other princeton shops, there is no staff back there to help as they wouldn't want to offend any of the pompous asses that seem to populate princeton. so, basically your on your own. the only thing that I really dislike are the goofy hours they have, always seem to be closing too early.

The Princeton Wegmans is located on the west bound side of US 1 in a large shopping plaza with a Wal-Mart, Best Buy, and a Bed, Bath, and Beyond. It's located on the far right side of the plaza closest to US 1. Since you can't have a liquor store inside a grocery store in the state New Jersey, there's a separate entrance to the liquor store off to the right side of Wegmans. In case you don't see it, you can walk into the main entrance and there's an entrance over by the cafe area. When you walk in, you're going to notice that it's a lot like the grocery part of the store. That means it's big, extremely clean, and very organized. It's so damn clean that you can eat off the floors. It's a narrow liquor store with wood paneling floors and wood shelves. If you're here for the beer, then go straight back to the store pass all he wine and liquor. When you reach the back of the store, you'll see 750's on wine racks, an open fridge to the left, a fridge with doors next to that, cases in the middle, a room temp rack on the back right wall, and yet another open fridge along the back wall. Basically, everywhere you look, there's beer and more beer.

I originally thought the service here was split between the two clerks all the way up at the front of the store. That all changed when I walked passed an employee stocking cases of beer with a six pack of Stone Levitation in my hands. He mentioned that he hasn't gotten around to try this Stone beer yet, but since it's from Stone, he said that it has to be good. When I was talking to him, another employee walked up and he gave me a brief description of the beer. They also went on to say that they would like to start a beer tasting, but due to local laws, that's not going to happen anytime soon. I'm sure the beer employees are readily available if you need assistance, but if they're not, you have to deal with the two store clerks up at the front of the store.

Now for their beer selection! On the wine racks is where you'll find 750's of Belgian beers like St Bernardus, Lindeman's, and La Chouffe. You'll also find some American Belgian styles of beer like Ommegang. The open fridge to the left of the wine racks and the one along the back wall is where you can find American, German, and English 4 and 6 packs of craft beers. The fridge with the doors is where you can find the macros with the occasional craft beer like Sam Adams and Sierra Nevada. The room temp shelves on the back right wall are where you can find the cream of crop Wegmans craft beer selection. This is where you can find bombers, 750's, and more 4 and 6 packs of your favorite craft beers. Their craft beer selection consists of Victory, Flying Fish, River Horse, Stone, Rogue, DFH, Rochefort, North Coast, Stoudt's, Smuttynose, one 750 of Jolly Pumpkin, Bear Republic, and quite a few more that can't remember right now. The selection usually consists of the brewery's regular offerings with maybe a seasonal here and there.

In the end, they have a nice solid offering of craft beers. It's a great place to visit, but I wouldn't travel very far to visit this Wegmans. That is unless you want to do a one stop trip for food and beer. After you visit Triumph in downtown Princeton and you're heading out of town via US 1, then you make a stop here to pick up a few craft beers.

As you might intuit from reading through the reviews here, Wegmans has greatly improved their beer selection in the past several years. "Good for a grocery store" is no longer accurate--I now find it to be the best one-stop beer shop in the area. I've been in the Princeton area for about 7 years now, and was pleased to see the great beer shelf space expansion of '06. In addition to their solid east coast and Belgian offerings, they've gradually ramped up their selections from the west--Rogue, Green Flash, North Coast, Stone, Anderson Valley. They've also done a nice job recently with seasonal brews, and often have special displays and sampler packs. Joe Canal's has a very few things that Wegmans doesn't carry (and vice-versa), but it takes some prodding to get me to go there. Sure, I can't get Weihenstephaner in a six-pack at Wegman's, but I'll usually trade that for a nicer store layout, friendly checkers who remember me, and the absence of the surly rent-a-cop door guard. Oh, and don't forget about wine tasting on weekends. All told, Joe Canal's feels like a student's liquor store, trying hard to keep underage Princeton students off the premises; Wegmans is for adults.

Typical Wegman's Liquors layout, with wine and spirits in the front of the store, and beer in the back. The beer is available from single bottles to cases, with a fairly large cold selection as well as more items at room temperature.

Selection is good, and occasionally they will get something I've never seen before. Usually my visits are connected with an event at my sister-in-law's, so I usually pick up several things I've not tried before that my local store doesn't carry.

In all, value is solid, if the odd thing here and there is more expensive than somewhere else. A very solid beer store.

I hit this place quite regularly when I have to head into Princeton for work. The liquor store has its own entrance to the right of the main store. Beer is at the back, past the wine and liquor. Many of the 6 packs and singles are located in coolers around the perimeter, but there are many bottles (singles, cases) sitting on room temp shelves or stacked neatly on the floor. Lots of 6 packs are available chilled, along with about half the single bottles. There are a number of corked bottles on display as you walk into the beer section, lots of Belgians, Unibroue, and Ommegang, plus others. Recently I've picked up some Stone and Weyerbacher special releases, some California beers I hadn't heard of before, and a Sam Smith box set of beers + glass. There's a good selection of east coast beer and a surprising selection of west coast offerings. Lots of Belgians, some Aussie, and a fair number of UK beers are available here too. Service has always been pretty good. Prices are quite good, especially compared to what I generally pay in PA for singles, and a little better than some of the other bottle shops that I hit in Princeton.

I stepped in today after picking up some groceries. I usually go to Joe Canal's less than a mile away, but figured that I would give Wegmans a shot.

I was pretty impressed. I found a good selection of Belgians, and offerings from lots of local and more national craft brewers.

While they have a good amount of beer in fridges along the walls, I was more interested in the stuff they had warm shelved. A centerpiece was dedicated to Belgians, with another dedicated to Rogue, Stone, and other bombers. The Rogue bombers were a buck cheaper than they are at Joe Canal's.

I picked up a few Rogue bombers, and the Samuel Smith Selection Box, which was unavailable at Joe Canal's.

I will be back there again.

This is hiddena bit from Route 1; but it is incredible easy to find off the exit near Walmart (heading southbound).

Very high end wines and spirits as well as a decent selection of beers. They regularly have orval, westmalle, many rogues, weyerbachers, and various Belgians in the section towards the back cooler.

The beer fridge is small, nothing compared to the monsterous Joe Canals down the road. However, they have some nice beers for a higher price.

Very nice selection of bourbons, vodkas, gin and other various things.

Wine - I buy vernaccia regularly there, which is actually impressive because they have different brands each time I go. They also have some very expensive wines behind locked cases.

Not a great place to go to find something incredibly rare - but, definitely worth a stop if you have the time. Be cautious with the prices, as things can be 20-35% more expensive for no reason.

Excellent food in the huge food court. Definitely worth a stop if you are a local in the area - or stopping by for the weekend.

Great place.

Pretty decent selection for a grocery store, although it's tough for me to judge, being from Canada. Some rarities here you can't get at Circle Liquors a few miles away, and the prices are a bit more reasonable for some things. Beer is obviously not their main focus, but they do make an effort.

One thing they seem to constantly have is Storm King stout, which I've bought there a couple of times. The second time I went there, they also had a lot more bomber selection, including some Rodenbach Grand Cru, which is sometimes tough to find where I come from.

Stopped in to see if anything new has arrived since my last visit a few months ago. Attached to the Wegmans, just off the open buffet and fish monger counter. When you walk in, you can tell this store really caters to wine lovers. The beer is hidden in the very back of the store in a number of refridgerators and stacked in cases on the floor. Typical Jersey selection of brews, nothing over reaching here as Sierra Nevada, Sam Adams, Troegs, Victory, and your other typical popular micros grace the place. A large macro selection too.

A number of Belgian bottles are stored on a shelf to the right of some of the beer coolers (Duvel, Corsendonk, etc.). Again nothing that can't be purchased elsewhere. Prices seemed a bit steep versus the Canals in the adjacent mall - but Wegmans isn't known for good pricing anyway.

Staff was helpful, but didn't seem overly beer knowledgable. They definitely seem to know their wine selections.

A decent place to pick of six in a pinch, but if time allows get to the Canals just up the road for better selection and prices.

A visit to Wegmans is an event for me. The Grocery store is excellent with amazing produce, cheeses and such. I've frequented the liquor store on a few occasions for wine and I was always impressed with their selection.

Since I've been enjoying the world of 'real' beers, only a few months now, I've visited it twice. Beers are located all the way in the back and are given a generous amount of real estate. The selection of individual bottles is exceptional. Part of the cold wine case (an opened faced case) is reserved for some 750s. There you have some great Belgian 750s which include the standard popular brands (Duvel, Chimay and such). Continuing you find a closed wall case containing mainly 4 and 6-packs and cases. You’ll find some micros but the majority of that fridge is macros (no worries cause it gets better).

On the farthest wall is an entire open faced case with dozens of brands and types individual bottles and 4 and 6-packs of mostly micros. Some of which I’ve never seen elsewhere. Lots of German, English and Irish beers to note. In the center isles you’ll find room temperature cases of macros and a few micros. In the center you will find a large wine rack used exclusively for beers; specifically 750s. Here you will find some of the more interesting Belgians , domestics and other types. Only thing that may be a problem with that rack is that the bottles are stored like wine, on their side, which I hear isn’t the correct way to store beers.

Quality seems to be good, but I may have to change that the more I frequent the place.

Prices are good, a 750 of Duvel is $7.99. I'll usually find that for about $8.99 elsewhere. Other brands are priced similarly.

Overall, I would say the Liquor store keeps up with the selection I expect from the grocery store.
