For Christmas I received a gift card (to Northern Brewer) to start me off with some homebrew supplies so I could start making my own. I read up and visited Kirk's website before going to the store - he has an online shop that he will ship any of the items to you.
The main reason I stopped at Kirk's was to purchase some items that were going to cost me extra to have them shipped - making Kirk's a cheaper option. The floor space is very small, but he has just about all the supplies you need. I can't comment on the hops, grains and yeast he has available, since I am a first time homebrewer and I am not well educated on that stuff... yet (however, it did seem he was a little light on these, but my opinion isn't worth much on this matter). He was very helpful and was willing to answer all my questions, no matter how naive they were. I appreciate this, because sometimes it's hard to figure out stuff from a book and someone just needs to tell me how to do it. His prices are very reasonable, he seems to keep them as low as possible without losing money.
Even though I could find some stuff online cheaper, I will go to Kirk's because of his service and to support him. It seems he has a plethora of knowledge since he's been homebrewing for 28 years or so, and as long as you ask questions he is willing to educate.

Very clean store and Kirk is very friendly and knows whats going on. He is located on 10th and cornhusker in a small strip mall, Plenty of parking.
Has a great selection of hops and yeast. store is somewhat small so large equipment is out.
Has all basic brew equipment in stock, so some fire and water and you can be brewing, But for 90% of brew day needs this is a nice place to have local. Wine supplies from kits to ingredents. Also Store hours are great for the work week and Sat. also. Check it out for yourself!

Kirk's is a great Homebrew Supply store, providing all the essentials at very reasonable prices. His store is always squeaky-clean and well-organized, and he keeps a good selection of yeast (dry and liquid), specialty grains, and even kegging parts on hand. Prices are a bit high if you compare to online stores, BUT are very reasonable considering that he is a local HBS, not a mega-mart online store.
Especially note-worthy are the hours, as Kirk's Brew is open till' 6pm to allow time for all the 8-5 people to stop in after work, as well as nearly all-day hours on Saturday for mid-brew emergencies. His advice is top-notch, and he loves to talk beer!

Kirk's Brew & Gifts is Lincoln's only homebrew shop, tucked into the end of a strip mall on 11th & Cornhusker. Until November 2004, the store had no signs on the outside, which made it VERY hard to find. Fortunately, a large sign is now visible when driving west on Cornhusker...anyway, back to the store itself.
The store is very small (about 400 sq. ft.), and is bright and clean; it sells all the equipment and ingredients neccessary for a beginning homebrewer. Due to the store's small size, many items are not stocked in large numbers, and some of the equipment needed for advanced homebrewing may not be available. Also, the number and variety of ingredients available is somewhat limited. The owner/sole employee is quite friendly and helpful. Prices are comparable to what can be purchased online. Finally, the store also sells a small number of winemaking supplies.
Kirk's is not open on Sundays.
