Pours a hazy medium orange color. Minimal head but a thin lace covers the drink through its lifespan in the glass.
Smells like apricot, meyer lemon, and honeysuckle. Light smoke smell at first, but it grows significantly as the drink warms.
Wow- tart. Really get the lemon in the taste. Shocking at the first taste. Hard to hold in the mouth for too long. Predominant flavors are certainly the lemon and smoke. It is lovely overall, but mostly after the actual tasting experience- not so much during it. A bit painful on the bitterness. Jaw clenching. The lemon takes over the ability for the apricot to shine through. Honey still coats the back of the throat at the end with the smoke.
The mouthfeel is a bit painful. Tastes more like a cocktail than beer. Even though the alcohol content isn't high, it feels like it belongs in a martini glass.
Absolutely happy I had the experience. Wouldn't and couldn't drink a ton of it on one setting. But would certainly have a glass again. Must try!

One of the most original beers I have tasted in awhile. The base of a good hefe , soured and then smoked. The sour notes balance the banana flavours of the Hefe and then the smoke comes through in the finish and the nose. It all works as the balance is there and such the drinkability is maintained. I have never tasted a combination such as this and I applaud German brewers who step outside the tried and true styles that dominate the country.

Appearance:
Medium orange colored body, very hazy, with a thin white head. Light carbonation and light lacing.

Aroma:
Slight tang of tart fruits and and a light sweetness. All malt, no hop notes to speak of. Overall, this is pretty dull as everything is too muted - requiring a fair amount of effort to pick up the subtle aromas.

Taste:
Tart fruit right off the bat. A bit of orange and peach provides a bit of sweetness, though, not much else to report on, sadly... A bit of peat character on the finish and in the aftertaste, otherwise the smoked character is way too muted.

Mouthfeel:
Light-medium bodied with good carbonation. Goes down easy with a semi-dry finish.

Overall:
Worth adding to your palate but there is not enough smokey character though.

Cloudy amber with the thinnest of heads.

Scent is hay, citrus, and damp earth.

Tart citrus and sourdough bread followed by grain and grass. Mineral and faint smoke finish.

Thin mouth with low carbonation.

Really great all around. Not nearly as much smoke presence as I'd expected, but far more complex. Well balanced and very easy drinking.

330ml bottle. Footed Flute glass. Pale brass, foggy appearance. White froth, close crown. Fairly good retention. Lasting thin layer on top. Gentle acidic at first -wine like- followed by slight sugar & bready notes. Light to medium body. Moderate carbonation but funny palate. Oily texture. Citric astringency in the middle rounded by sour fruity notes - green pears & apples. Low bitterness. Long acidic finish & subtle hops on the aftertaste. Refreshing & easy drinkable.
