A: The beer is cloudy yellowish orange in color and has a moderate to high amount of visible carbonation. It poured into a weizen glass with a two finger high white head that died down, leaving a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface and a bit of lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: There are light aromas of wheat in the nose along with notes of fruity yeast and hints of clove.
T: As in the smell, the taste is dominated by flavors of wheat and grainy malts and has slight hints of fruity yeast and clove.
M: It feels light-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer tastes a little bland compared to other beers in the style but is nonetheless easy to drink. It seems like it could use some banana flavors to help offset the heavy amount of wheat.

A- 500ml bottle poured into a tall, slim glass with a clear light orange body, right between golden and amber. A nice creamy white head forms made up of a ton of really fine bubbles and about two fingers high. Head retention is good and there are a few nice patches of lace down the glass.
S- I really don't get that much, this one is even pretty faint compared to most Hefeweizens. Those important esters and phenols are mostly missing and I just pick up some light caramel, wheat and grains. Tiny citrus and vanilla.
T- The most striking thing about this beer to me is the lack of the banana, clove, ester and phenol dominance. It can be low but is almost non-existent for me and those are certainly the defining characteristics of this style. To me this tastes like a Pale mixed with a Hefe with light caramel, cracked grain, apple, citrus and wheat notes. Feels diluted and just lacking strong flavors.
MF- Light bodied overall consistency with foamy, high carbonation. Tiniest bitterness in the finish but more sweetness.
Really not a huge fan of much here. Nothing offensive but there is more apple/general light fruit here for me than any of the great esters and phenols that characterize this style.

This was served from the tap at The Old Toad in Rochester, NY. It arrived in a half sized snifter showing a pale, wheaty gold coloring. A one finger head of creamy white bubbles topped the beverage, showing okay retention to leave a ghostly film across the top. Crisp waves of lacing jetted down the sides of the glass. There was a thick haze to it, with no sediment. Carbonation appeared even. The nose gave big wheat, phenolic clove, vanilla coolness, bready banana esters, bitterness of green banana peel, citric rind, and fresh apple fruitiness. Our first impression was that there was nice apple sweetness to the flavoring that was almost as robust as the wheatiness of it. As we sipped, granny smith apples, chalky wheat, mineral, and bittered yeast started things off. The middle peaked with grassy hop bite, freshly cut grassiness, muddy wheat, mineral, and coin. The finish came with more bitterness of lemon rind and clovey phenols to tame the wet wheatiness throughout. The aftertaste breathed of aromatic apple sweetness, that same wheatiness, mild bite of sweet alcohols, biting chalk, musk, and baby powder. The body was medium, and the carbonation was active and frothy. There was nice slurp, cream, and sip to the mustache, while the mouth as left dripping wet, with no dryness. The abv was appropriate, and the beer drank easily.
Overall, what we enjoyed most about this brew was the light sweetness to the flavoring. While there was a nice malt and wheat to it, with all the necessary notes of a hefe, there were additions of fresh and fruity sweetness of apple. This gave a fresh twist. The nose was curiously like a wheat wine, with strong grape, booze, and wheaty coolness. That said, things get a bit redundant by the end of the glass, as the wheat that is there remains boxed out, only to lose the heartiness of flavoring that kept the beer flowing.

A: Poured from a bottle to a weizen glass. Had an orange-brown color and a cloudy consistency. There was a big, creamy, long-lasting head. Good lacing.
S: A slightly odd, acidic aroma of wheat and malt. Didn't have that typically sweet smell you get with a hefeweizen.
T: Tasted of malt, wheat and a little bit of the bubblegum quality you get in this style. A big problem here is that it's very thin and watery. The bubblegum is barely noticeable. It's simply not a well made flavor.
M: A fair amount of carbonation with a thin, watery finish. Light-bodied.
O: This beer is kind of a misfire. It has some decent qualities, but ultimately misses the mark.

They claim this is the less-fruity Rhineland style rather than the typical Bavarian Hefeweizen. It's quite dry with barely a hint of malty sweetness. Faint grainy aroma with some perfumey notes.
Attractive clear light amber color with a luxuriant foam in the Aventinus Weissbier glass. Sediment seems very tight. Bitter murky twang. A touch of woody edge. Bitter aftertaste but not much actual hop flavor.
Quite drinkable but an austere variety of wheat beer. From the 500 ml bottle purchased for $5.69 at Bine & Vine in San Diego.

A - Hazy orange-amber with a finger of frothy off-white head. Fades normal.
S - Sweet wheat and grainy malts, citrus, pine, and floral hops, lager yeast, bit of lemon zest and green fruity esters.
T - Sweet wheat and grainy malts, noble, citrus, pine, and floral hops, some smooth bitterness, some tart fruity esters, lemon zest, with a touch of spices.
M - Medium bodied, moderate carbonation. Smooth with a sweet, bitter, estery finish.
D - Nice hoppy take on a hefeweizen.
