Pours murky gold with a bubbly ring. Decent splashy lace.

Really interesting nose, with spruce, floral, and soapy notes in the nose.

Not the best of the style that I've had. Mildly tart, odd herbal note, spruce nettles do show up. Sour notes are nice, as are some mild sweet grassy elements. Lightly salty with spruce at the end.

Medium bodied, ok carbonation.

A twist on the style, with the spruce nettles. The nose on this gives such an interesting perfume that you think you are tasting something that you are not.

Poured from the bottle into a Weihenstephaner weizen glass.

A big head results from the pour, about three fingers thick, pale white and fluffy. The beer is cloudy, a golden color with a blonde haze. There's steady carbonation and the occasional big bubble surging upwards.

On the nose I get wheaty sweetness and malt first, even some clove like a hefeweizen, and subtle hints of spruce. I don't detect any coriander or salt, as I would have expected.

Things get more interesting with the taste. The beer starts off like a hefeweizen, sweet, wheaty and spiced (I'm struggling to connect this with clove or spruce), before becoming more tart with a hint of salt. I get more spruce closer to the finish, so it must be clove I detect initially.

The beer has a light quality to it, yet still retains a good body. It has an effervescent feel on the tongue, some bubbliness from the carbonation and yeast. There's only a slight tartness and a dry effect that comes with the taste of salt.

This beer's very interesting to me. I find it enjoyable, but just like the sour wheat ale I had recently, not sour to the American tongue. There are a medley of flavors within and I enjoy them, but I do find that this beer to closely resembles a hefeweizen rather than boldly proclaiming itself a gose. I suppose I'd like a little more explosiveness from the salt and spices. Typical American.

Cloudy straw yellow with the thinnest sliver of white head.

Scent is hay, lemons, wheat, ocean brine and funk.

Taste is...interesting. The initial hit is a bit on the dryer sheet side but turns to salty wheat, coriander and sour lemons .Tart finish but not overly.

Light carbonation.Thin in the mouth.

Overall the spruce flavor is not at all what I expected and almost seems to hold back this beer from being great. For $5 I can't complain.

This pours a light straw amber with a hint of grapefruit pink. Aroma has a quince note, far as I can tell—it’s something akin to a candied yet fresh grapefruity floral note. Tastes so good.
It’s … well, it’s tartly sour, refreshing and crisp, yet funky and strange in the most engaging sort of way. It could have easily been a mess but somehow it works. This might have been the most interested beer I’ve tried in a while.
