The atmosphere and décor at the Sunset Grill and Tap is almost identical to the Sunset Cantina. Lots of breweriana adorn the walls, same basic color scheme. The Sunset bars are beer bars with sort of a TGI Fridays feel. The bar is toward the left and back of the place. The bar area is dinky compared to the overall size of the restaurant. In holding true to the reputation of Sunset, I was served a spoiled Dry Hopped Rogue Red that I was so looking forward to tasting. The beer was sour and looked as if someone stirred in a couple spoonfuls of mud. Of course I sent it back in favor of an Anderson Valley IPA that was pretty tasty. I ordered dinner, blackened catfish which was actually very good. It got a bit crowded, someone was sitting in my bar stool each time I returned from the bathroom. Funny thing, with all those beer choices I only found a couple things I wanted. I was interested primarily the draughts. Some of the bottles were a bit pricey, $11 for a bomber of Stone IPA? WTF? I found the Sunset Grill and Tap was worth a try but I wont hurry back here. Visited 18 Sep, 2003.
