Like one of its Caledonian Bretheren', Wee Bastard is a traditional Scottish ale brewed to be rich , malty and smooth with a touch of fruitiness. Don't be fooled, this ale pacs a "wee heavy" punch to lift yer kilt!!

Draft at the brewpub served in a shaker pint, the beer is a light to medium amber in color with a low white head. Lots of grainy, rustic malt flavor here with undertones of caramel and fruit - apple perhaps. A little toasted malt and a fairly benign, earthy hop presence. A touch on the sweet side with a low finishing bitterness. Carbonation is light to moderate and the body on the full end. Not a great example, but certainly passable.

a good beer, not as outstanding as others have indicated I don't think. pours clear brassy in color with just an inch of white head that fades slowly. the nose is fruity, toasted, and quite alcoholic. the abv isn't posted, but it felt pretty high to me, maybe near 8%. the flavor is dominated by sweeter malt, grainy and harvest fresh, autumnal for that reason, a good thanksgiving time brew. there is also a peculiar fruity sweet component too, like berry juice added or something similar. it isn't artificial at all, but it seems out of place to me in a Scottish ale. long thick boozy finish. fine carbonation and a very full body, this is a beer to just have one or two of, it gets filling and gets you buzzing pretty quick. not flawless, but a well made glass of beer, made interesting by the fruit flavors.

This is a great beer! I liked it so much with my lunch, I whipped out a growler & said, "Fill it!" I only wish I had pulled out 3 growlers!
It tastes every bit as good as the Dead Guy Maibock from Rouge River Brewing Company. If you are just passing through Rock Springs, take an extra half an hour to get this one. Bring your growlers! I would take a keg if I could haul it.

On tap at Bitter Creek Brewery Rock Springs, WY. Pours without a head, so no lace. Clear amber color. Nose is overripe apples on the ground. No carbonation and medium bodied. Starts sweet with a some hops in background, finish is fermented apple cider. Needs some carbonation. Goes well with their shrimp & sausage. $3.75 for 16oz. glass. The ABV is 8.5%.
