A twelve-ounce can poured into a pilsner glass creates a decent head and lacing. The beer itself is slightly darker than the average American lager and smells of sweet malts with a hint of floral hops. Sweetness is also prevalent in the taste, where it is accompanied by something a bit tart and leafy. Schlitz has a much richer feel than many American adjuncts, but maintains the smoothness and great drinkability that the style is known for having.

Sampling right now on 6/9/14. Bought a 6-pack last week for $5.89 at the Hy-Vee in Council Bluffs, Iowa...right next door. Bottle chilled down to 36 degrees F in my beer cooler and poured into a vintage 'Schlitz' glass. BA says it is 'retired' but guess they started making it again as the label says" Jos. Schiltz Brewing Company, Milwaukee, Wis."
Pours a golden yellow in color with just a thin white head. Some spotty lacing is seen when sipped. Good carbonation. The aroma is mostly of grains and malt. The taste is about the same with some corn 'sweetness'. Actually goes now easy and isn't that bad. No bitter or harsh aftertaste for this old time brew.
