I was expecting a Winter Warmer from the name. Instead I got a nice amber ale that could have been called an IPA as well.
Pours a hazy reddish orange color. A hard pour gets you a big frothy slightly antique white head with good retention. There is plenty of filmy bands of lacing on the glass.
Strong aroma of citrus hops, tangerine and other tropical fruit. Impressive enough for an IPA.
Balanced taste with some strong sweet caramel malts to go along with the citrus hops. A little oily piney hops are present in the flavor that were not detected in the nose. Robust flavor...nicely balanced.
Mouthfeel is good, nice bitterness and a rich, crisp overall mouthfeel. No strong alcohol presence.
I would like more of this

A: This poured a nearly opaque copper with moderate white head and some sediment.
S: It smelled like sweet and salty butterscotch, with some copper hops.
T: It tasted like copper hops, with some sweet butterscotch and bitter resin. It had a clean bitter aftertaste.
M: It was watery with moderate carbonation. Decent body.
D: This was an interesting beer. The scent was nice, but the taste wasn't as good, and the body was fairly weak. The finish was smooth enough, so it wasn't difficult to drink. Just not very rewarding.
