A - A voluminous silky rich creamy lush light khaki colored froth comprised of big chunky bubbles and a rugged rocky top takes hold... Really rock solid retention... Once settled there s an uneven creamy lacing and a moderately thick collar... The color is a slightly watered down cranberry red... There are some vibrant glowing amber undertones... A moderate bit of moderate paced carbonation streaks towards the top of the glass... This is a really attractive looking brew... Sheets of lacing cling to the sides of the glass...
S - Surprisingly earthy... There is also a strong resiny hop presence at the forefront... Buried a good bit beneath the surface is a blend of toasted malts and bready malts... Perhaps some very light fruity notes and a hint of peppermint... It's really the earthy notes and hop resins that dominate throughout...
T - The expected earthiness is at the forefront... The hop resins are a bit more muted than expected... Some light orange zest notes... A hint of fruitiness... Some bready malts... The hop presence again rises on the finish but never overpowers but really lingers for quite a bit...
M - Medium bodied... Much thinner than I expected... Starts with a touch of lushness and finishes with a touch of dryness... There is a nice bright character that resonates...
D - An interesting interruption of the Winter Warmer style... To be honest, I'm not quite sure what to make of this... I'm also quite confused with regard to my feelings... Certain components really work while other don't... The end result is an interesting and enjoyable yet unremarkable brew... Somewhat quaffable and hides the 7% ABV rather well...
