tallboy can poured into a beer stein.
best before date on the bottle of the tallboy stating: May 2013.
Appearance: Black bodied beer with 3 fingers of thick light brown colored head. It looks exactly like the head formed on top of a rootbeer float. Great staying power and thick lacing all over the glass. The head never dies on this beer... a thick cap remains until the glass is empty.
Smell: roasted malt profile. Its fairly hoppy nose that matches and might even over power the malts. Its lots of pine notes with a grapefruit compliment.
Taste: Yeah this beer balances out really nicely. The malts start things off; they are roasty with a hint of sweetness. I would say mild coffee, mild chocolate, and mild molasses notes. A really nice malt profile! The hops are not really bitter for 68 IBU. Pine and grapefruit, but mostly pine. Everything blends together nicely in the finish, with a mildly bitter pine finish that lingers for just the right amount of time.
Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer with moderate carbonation. Creamy and subtle carbonation. Just right for this beer. A nice flavorful yet drinkable stout!
Overall: This beer is very well balanced and flavorful. Not alot of flavors in this beer, but it got everything it needs, trust me. This is probably my new favorite Sixpoint beer to date. Bonus points as always for being craft beer in a can! This beer seems to hover indecisevely between a hoppy american stout and an american black ale. But who cares its a really good beer!
