Best Before May 25, 2013. 16oz can poured into a pint glass. Pours black with just a little light getting through. There's a huge khaki, off-white head which sticks around and leaves very sticky lacing. Really nice looking beer. The aromas are very nice and reminiscent of a Black IPA. Very hoppy with lots of pine resin and oranges. The chocolate malts are very present in the nose as well. The flavors are fine, but a bit of a letdown compared to the aromas. Lots of roasted chocolate and expresso. The hop bitterness is there, but it lacks hop flavor. This doesn't exactly remind me of a stout and would fit better in the "Black Ale" category, in my opinion. Mouthfeel is fine, a little thin, but still has a body to it. The carbonation is moderate. This is a very easy drinking beer.
This is definitely in the Black IPA territory. Nice beer that could be so much more. The aromas had me excited, but the flavors seemed average. Not bad.
