A black beer with a fluffy khaki-colored head that has superb retention. Lacing is creamy and thick and sticks messily all over the sides of the glass.

The aroma is interesting; first bitter hoppiness, followed a slightly charred roastiness. Not particularly strong smelling. The taste is much more vivid, as the roasted, almost burnt malt flavor and bitter resiny hops come out vividly. Both elements are well-balanced. There’s also a hint of unsweetened cocoa and more prominent espresso note. Very lightly sweet with perhaps a touch of vanilla as well.

Mouthfeel is excellent, on the thicker side, definitely creamy, with medium carbonation that gives a little life and lift to this beer. Bitterness lingers pleasantly in the finish.

Tasty and easy drinking, a really solid offering from Sixpoint. On a night that I wanted a stout but found only 10% ABV and up choices in my collection I poured this one instead and really enjoyed it.

On tap at The Pony Bar last night.

The pour was on par for the course, jet black with dark brown highlights, and a dense, brown head with great retention. Moderate lacing is present too. The nose is loaded with dark, bitter chocolate, quite excellently so. There's also a rather noticeable earthy and citrus hop character. Plenty of roasted malt bitterness is also perceived. The palate opens with a robust roasted malt bitterness and a dark chocolate character. In fact, it tastes like it smells, with some coffee character added, mostly a chicory-like bitterness. The hop character is most noticeable up front, before it whelmed by the malt character. Moderately fruity with a little plum, this finishes dry with a pronounced roasted grain bitterness. Medium in body with a moderate level of carbonation, this beer is solid. Not really something you'd shotgun, though.

16 oz can poured into a tulip

A- Pours dark brown and turns black as night in the glass. A two finger of a light brown head.

S- A slight chocolate and roasted malt. A lot of pine and some astringent hoppy tones.

T- A hoppy stout. The first thing I get is a hop bitterness and a bouquet of piney and resinous flavors. The roasted malt in this beer is an after thought to the hops but they provide a solid base to the beer. The beer has some chocolate tones as well as some underlying caramel.

M- A silky smooth beer but it has high carbonation. Bitter for a stout but I don't mind.

O- This is pretty darn good brew. It's uniqueness sets this beer apart but I didn't really expect it. A cross between a stout and a black IPA. A really different brew but a well done one.

A: A dark brown pour with a fluffy, frothy tan head. Retention is decent and so is the lacing.

S: At first pour I thought my eyes were deceiving me. It smells like a nice big hoppy IPA. Resinous pine and citrus abound. You really have to reach deep to pick up the roasted malt and chocolate smells that are just buried beneath the floral hops. There is a big yeasty bread smell too. Coffee starts to become apparent once it warms.

T: Hop-forward stout, interesting. Bitter up front and carries through to the yeasty bread in the middle and then the big roasted malt flavors come on. Char, bitter coffee and just a hint of chocolate. Lingering pine bitterness carries a long way in the aftertaste. Very nice. Almost like a black IPA.

M: Creamy and slightly flat. A little drying. Similar to an irish stout.

O: Looks like a stout, smells like an IPA, tastes like a black ale and feels like an irish dry stout. I have no idea how to categorize it is but it's pretty good.
