Pours dark black, with a reddish tint on the edges. Finger and a half of head with very good lacing. Roasted malt comes in strong at first then the piney hops take over, tranistions well and finishes slightly sweet. Very light mouthfeel is unexpected and makes this a fun beer. The well balanced flavors add to the fun too.

A - Black, deep brown with a big rocky tan head that refuses to fade leaving big, bubbly foam behind.

S - Roasted malt, dark chocolate, piney and herbal hops. Much lighter aroma than I was expecting.

T - Hop bitterness with piney and fresh green hop flavors. Light char and astringent roast malt notes. Licorice and baking chocolate lead to a lingering, dry herbal finish

M - Medium body, creamy and well carbonated. Dry.

D - The herbal green hops clash a bit with the roasty, char malt.

$11 for a growl dog of this ? are you serious ? hell yeah... surprised my bro with this one tonight.

eyes...
jet black (what the hell does that mean anyway, I'm too lazy too google it, you do it.. why is a jet black? is it jet ink? is it an allusion to the jets having a black future ? eh...)
fantastic lacing, perfect little pearls of carbonation stack up on each other like so much manufactured sea foam in a movie about beer, the head rolls with the tide and this refuses to look bad or have a favorite side of face to photo, damn, this is one nearly flawless looker.

nose...
piney hops, close your eyes and you will forget the darkness of this beer, the hops are dominant in this fresh batch, you have to work to get just a faint whiff of stout qualities, so honestly the nose is not much here but a nose does not always a beer make

taste etc...
obviously hoppy, there is the faint echo of a normal stout crying out underneath but mostly this is over the top hop but not over to the point of overkill (say that 10 times fast), some roasty flavors, some thicker feel.... it has glimpses of stout and has a good mouth feel

verdict?
looking for an over hopped stout a bit more balanced than some ? ok.
to call this Diesel ?
meh, is this a bad or non enjoyable beer ? hell no
it drinks more like a dark APA (quote me now on a new style). I like it, but don't love it, it certainly straddles the style line precariously... definitely try this one though, especially for the price vs quality ratio offered.

On the bottom of the can: "Best before 25 May 2013. There you have it!

Served in a Stone pint glass.

A: Lots of stick suds on this one. After viewing the pepper, mocha head, I turned my attention to the extremely dark (nearly black) liquid below it. Bits of ruby slivers poking around the edges.

S: Pretty hoppy, with sort of a marshmallowy quality. It was faint, but I didn't detect any sort of roast, char, or cocoa. Maybe a bit of melted Hershey bar.

T: I got a bit more grainy, malted milk ball style of chocolate candy, with quite a bit of hop bitterness, especially considering the style. This is sort of like a lighter version of "Storm King."

M: Like I said, bitter, and with a silky, smooth, molasses-like feel, and in the same vain as molasses in that it wasn't too sweet at all. Nice carbonation bill and ridiculous lacing.

O: Really nice stout that gave out something different in the myriad of roasted, charred clones on the market.

16 oz. black/gold can. Best before date on the bottom.

A: Pours black as night with a nice layer of tan head. Decent lacing
with a good amount of retention. Looks enticing.

S: Roasted notes. Chocolate, thick caramel. Hops, yeast and charcoal.
The hop aroma was a surprise.

T/M: Roasted almost burnt. Smokey charcoal. Bitter hops, malts, dark
chocolate, coffee, faint citrus, and little more hops. Roasted malts.
Smooth and creamy. The finish is dry and bitter.

O: I like stouts, but the inclusion of such strong hops in this one has me
in between. More of a Black Ale, which Is a style I have not much
experience with. The ingredients are fresh and the style is interesting,
which makes for a good drinkable stout.

Cheers!

Six point Diesel Stout
16 oz can into a mug
no born on date

A: Pours a cola brown with a huge 3plus fingers width of light mocha colored head. Retention is good and it leaves very nice, thick, layered lacing.

S: Roasted malt, cream, hint of bakers chocolate and coffee. Smells nice, but nothing special.

T: Roasted malts, followed by roasted malts. Some bakers chocolate, along with bitter black coffee and piney bitterness that I didnt get on the aroma. Im surprised by the hop presence here, piney and even some citrus rind, which only gets strong as it warms. Tastes like a black IPA. I like it though.

M/D: Full bodied, but on the thinner side. Carbonation is pretty heavy. This would be a bummer if this had more of a stout profile, but since its drinks like a black IPA its actually not necessarily a bad thing. Drinkability is good.

O: Overall, I very much enjoyed this. I usually find standard stouts to be pretty drab, but the big hop presence really made this one stand out. A well done brew that Id drink again, but dont expect your standard traditional stout.
