Cloudy and ruddy, this beer is a dark rusted red. Finding purplish hues isn't a stretch of the imagination. Decent lacing from a short, sticky head.
This stuff smells like its loaded with rye. I can even get a certain level of rye sourness. The aroma is mostly spicy rye and mashed grains. It doesn't seem to be wildly hoppy, but there is a suitable level of pine and citrus.
The taste is just rather plain to me. Lots of rye, some caramelized sugars and toasted malts. Hops are toned back, allowing this beer to become quite grainy. The finish is spicy and leans towards bitter.
Medium body with average carbonation. The finish is dried out and spicy.
A decent beer, but my least favorite of the 3 Sixpoints I was able to sample. I don't really like rye very much, and this one is packed full of it.
