Poured from a 12oz can (Best By: September 20, 2014) into a Samuel Adams specialty (i.e. short-stemmed and elongated tulip) glass. Not the freshest can, but clearly within the Best By date.

A- Pours a golden orange hue with noticiable sediment floating about. The head reached a full 1-finger of which was white and creamy. The head maintained rather well considering the elevated ABV. (4.0)

S- Although subtle, fleshy tropical fruits (peach, mango, pineapple) dominate the aroma followed by a subdued honey sweetness. No noticable piney traces can be found. (4.0)

T- A typical 1-2-3 punch...sweet malt first followed quickly by juicy tropical fruits (peach, mango, pineapple) and then a substantial grapefruit rind bitterness. Not overtly complex, but fires on all cylinders that is trademark to a DIPA. Well done. (4.5)

M- The mouthfeel is medium with just enough carbonation to move things along the palate. The malt backbone is perfect to support the substantial hop load and makes for an enjoyable experience. (4.5)

O- Although Resin has been in circulation much longer than Sixpoint's Hi-Res, they have very similar traits. They are both solid offerings, but will give a slight nod to Hi-Res...but being that Resin is year-round, I am more than happy to have Resin at my disposal to satiate my hop fix. (4.25)

I scored a four pack on a visit to Ohio. It pours a beautiful clear gold, with a nice high white head. The smell of pine, cirtus and pineapple hits your nose as soon as the can opens. The flavors carry over from the scents, with a sweetness on the front end and a slight bitterness on the back. For a beer that shows off it's 9.1 ABV and 103 IBU, this one is smooth and very drinakable. I should have nabbed a case!

Sixpoint Resin is one of the best IPAs available here in Houston. Resin consistency not over bearing, hoppy up front, bitter notes at the back w/ an apricot base feel. So well rounded. Better bought fresh, recommend keeping in the pantry unless ready to drink...then fridge or ice cool and drink immediately. "Best before July 13, 2014" on this can. Still tastes fresh.

Purchased from the packey best by 05092015.

A: cloudy yellow with a thin ring of bubbles, that lacing hangs around forever.

S: Middle roasted malts, spicy resinous pine needles with bitter citrus. Mild peppery yeast and everything just blends well. Very well presented IPA notes.

T: Follows nose. The mild weediness, pine and citrus peek up and stay up. bitter-orangy-grapefruity finish.

M: Semi-creamy, coating well with a smooth, velvety finish. Some signficant bitter notes poke up and subside in the dry, creamy finish. It is a HUGE finish on the dry and bitter side.

O: Give me more of THIS. Between citrus, bitter, dry, and pine....this is a balance on the edge of too much. But it is not.

Canned beer served in a pint glass.

Appearance -
Thick, foamy head which is long lasting. Off-white in colour. Leaves plenty of lacing. Cloudy, honey colour with suspended particles. Slow rising, small bubbles.

Smell -
Sweet, fruity, hops, pine, apricot, peaches. The aromas are strong and hit you in the face on opening.

Taste -
Bitter hops, grapefruit, dried apricots, mandarin, mint, and some caramel sweetness.
Cut grass aftertaste.
Plenty of bitterness and being high IBU, the alcohol notes are present.

Mouthfeel -
Slight prickly pop rocks fizz.
Thick, creamy body, not much froth.

Overall -
Strong aromas and lots of flavour. A thoroughly enjoying beer, and despite it's bitterness, it's refreshing and goes down easily. Plenty about it to enjoy and lots of complexity to enjoy on every sip. Hoppy and in IPA territory, but with more malty sweetness than usual.

Poured from the can into a nonic a clear copper color with a rather thin head that was gone quickly with only a trace of lace left behind.Sticky resinious hops like the name suggests dominates the nose along with some sweet alcohol and a hint of brown sugar. There is a definint hit of hops on the palate but they dont hit hard they seem to roll across the palate wich isn't bad but it's not full on like expected, mild caramel and more assertive alcohol sweetness creeps. The sweetness isn't to big like to many of the style but the hops could pack a little more puch,I love Sixpoint but this I only kinda liked.

Pours a dense light orange with a swiftly rising, mildly off white head. Looks sticky and it is. It leaves tons of lace on the glass and has nice legs too.
Smells like rich caramel with nice hints of citrus. This is hop dominant but the malts really balance it out well. It's dense on the tongue and the hops present well at first, then the malt sweetness finishes it off. The rich creaminess allows it to linger and it has a very nice carbonation level.
I really hope this is a year round brew as I could see this as a go to beer.

A: This beer pour a slightly hazy light copper. The half a finger of long lasting, rocky, white head leaves some lacing on glass.

S: It smelled like I just opened a bag of hops when I cracked open the can; resin is a great name as the strong hops aroma is thick with piney, resinous aromas. There is a moderate citrus, mostly orange and grapefruit, fruity ester along with a light malt sweetness and caramel malt note supporting the hops. There is a hint of the alcohol in there as well.

T: The flavor follows the aroma with a bit hit of resinous and pine hop flavors layered over moderate pineapple and citrus notes. The moderately-low malt support provides a good supporting malt sweetness and light caramel flavors that allow for the high hops bitterness and flavors to shine. The balance is decidedly bitter with a dry finish and a lingering pine flavor and bitter aftertaste.

M: The is a medium-light bodied beer with a moderate carbonation. There is a very low creaminess and a touch of alcohol warmth, but on the whole dangerously smooth.

O: This beer is deserving of the title Resin and is so much better than I had anticipated. I had feared a hop bomb that was going to be the equivalent of chewing on pine needles but this is a balanced, bitter hop bomb I happy enjoy again and again.

I have to say, I have had this a few times.... and was not sure what to make of the first few.... but the more I drink it, The more I crave it... this stuff really grows on you.... at least it did with me.... apperance is a hazy copper tone with a marshmallow like head.... lacing is thick and foamy ...aroma is like that of resin.... (reminds me of high school)taste is of citrus and hops, leaving you quite dry... but yet craving more... Great Job...

A - Golden amber, hazy, moderate carbonation, just off white head that fades to covering and leaves some sticky lace on the glass.

S - Citrus hops and sweet malt, nice but muted.

T - Lots of citrus and tropical fruit hop flavor, nice malt backbone but it leans a bit too much to caramel malts like all Sixpoint beers tend to do. Works better in this beer than their others I have had.

M - This is a pretty syrupy beer, lots of body here. Even with a decent amount of carbonation and alcohol it leaves a coating with a definite bit of warmth.

O - This is one of Sixpoint's better beers that I have had. All with potential and all with too much caramel malt. The higher alcohol and hop bitterness help balance it out in this beer.
