12 oz pour into a FW Teku

Aroma: Smell is actually a bit more subdued than expected. Some pine, some citrus, and something off that I can't really place. Maybe a little tropical fruit but so light.

Appearance: Very nice orange with good head retention. Bubbles vary in size and leaves a nice lacing on the glass.

Flavor: A really nice malt flavor with hops present to back it up. Very pleasant grapefruit as the main fruit character, with pine on the finish. Respectable balance of malt and hops.

Mouthfeel: Good body, but maybe slightly too carbonated. Becomes creamy in the mouth after a few moments. Has a nice lingering bitterness on the finish.

Overall: Good DIPA but not as good as the standards of the class. The hops in this are a bit one note but at the same time the malt character does not really highlight them. An overall quality beer that I would definitely drink again, but not a standout in any way.

A - Nice color. Poured into a pint glass with a medium head which gradually faded away.

S - Pine all the way. Thought I was hit in the face with a spruce branch, not that that's a bad thing.

T - Went in for the piney goodness. I was left confused thinking I was about to taste what I had just smelled. Thought my palette was on break so I went in for more. Same thing. I don't want to say it tasted like a run of the mill pale, but I didn't find it to be that extraordinary.

M - Light and easy to drink, somewhat refreshing.

O - Definatly not bad, but not great. I've been wanting to try this one for a while and pleased I did. A good beer with a great nose.

L- Somewhat hazy copper color topped with a thick head. Head is long lasted and leaves a lot of lacing on the glass.

S- Hop, hops, and more hops. Piney, fruity, and floral all at once, pretty intense aroma.

T- Guess what it's a big hop bomb, nicely balances and well done though. Finish is a bit oily with a bitter final hit of hops.

M- Slightly creamy and not as viscose as I would have thought, seems a bit lacking here. A little less than medium in body and medium in carbonation. I would have liked a bit more body but its not a terrible miss.

O- If you want a hop bomb, it's the way to go. I would have never guessed it's 9.1% ABV either, so that makes it a bit dangerous as well.

A- Pours a golden orange that is intensely bright. Medium, 2 finger head that retains and laces awesome. Moderately hazy.

S- Lots of hop bitterness is right up front as expected. Mostly pine scents with some sweet malt mixed in. Fairly complex for an IIPA, as it is not completely hops on the nose. Sweet flavors remind me a little of honey mostly.

T- Starts with some solid malt backbone then blasts right into the hops. First, a piney hops blast kicks you in the tongue. Then, a slight hint of sweetness creeps in before being crushed by more bitter hops. The drink ends with a harsh, bitter hop profile that is dry and extra bitter.

M- Thick and creamy for a IIPA, but I like it. Medium to low amount of carbonation. Alcohol is fairly well hidden, but the hops themselves will crush your palate, making this one more of a sipper.

Overall, this is a pretty damn solid IIPA. The best part of this beer is that it is an everyday beer (~$10 for a 4-pack) that can kill you with hops.
