16 oz can poured into a pint glass. Deep gold to pale orange. Quite hazy despite being filtered. Smells ... wow, bananas. Bunches of bananas. Some ginger and clove there too. No mistaking it's a wheat beer here. Has a nice hoppy bite on the front to mid-palate then turns juicy and finishes with moist banana bread. And lemon, clove and ginger snaps. Amazing. Makes me want to gulp it down. (390 characters)

Brilliant golden in body topped with marshmallow head that stays. Beautiful aroma of vanilla, floral, honey, and bubblegum. Great flavors here: floral, herbal hops, vanilla, juicy citrus, gorgeous output from the wheat and yeast. Light in body with medium carbonation that tickles the palate. Really well done. A perfect beer for the summer, hell, perfect for anytime of year. (376 characters)

This arrived in Indianapolis a couple weeks ago.

This beer pours a medium bodied, very, very cloudy honey cream gold in color with a soapy one finger bright white head. It looks like no Kristalweizen I've ever seen, but looks like a nice Hefe. The nose is very aromatic banana and cloves, fruity esters, and more yeast. The nose is great, world class, right up there with the Weihenstephaners. The flavors follows suit. In your face fruity esters, banana, clove, yeast bom with a nice slightly sweet malt finish are on point! It drinks about medium in body, which is perfect being this style and out of a can. Overall this is arguably the second best Hefe I've ever had, behind Weihenstephaner. It's no Kristalweizen but it is a world class Hefe. This makes Live Oak look like child's play. AMAZING job by Sixpoint! (816 characters)

poured into a tall weissbier glass white foamy head about 2 inches thick, straw colored beer.
smell of bananas and cloves. first taste was bananas all the way with a sweet and tart aftertaste. Has me craving for more. I think they did a very good job on this one. Sixpoint never disappoints. Good summer beer. (310 characters)

Poured from a 16oz can into a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a light amber color, with a short white head that fades slowly and leaves a thin lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains wheat, light caramelized malts, citrus and some hops.

T: The taste starts out sweet with flavors of citrus and bananas. Then some bready flavors of wheat and a hearty but not too heavy malt character come in. The hops presence is mild but complementary and brings a very good balance. The after-taste is slightly sweet and slightly bready.

M: Crisp and very smooth, light-to-medium body, medium carbonation, finish is clean.

O: Very tasty, goes down quite easily, not too filling, mild kick, very good representation of style, this is a very good beer to pound down for a long time. (777 characters)

16oz can (best by Aug 18, 2012) poured into a Los Gatos Brewing weizen glass.

A - Pours a medium orangey golden color with two fingers of fluffy white head with good staying power. Head slowly fades away leaving some foamy, sticky lacing on the glass. Fairly dark on the color spectrum for the style and still showing a bit of haze.

S - Extremely strong banana aroma up front here...pretty dominant to the point of killing most everything else. A touch of cloves, hints of wheat barely make an appearance.

T - Banana is dominant in the flavor too...however it does leave room for other flavors to have some impact. Surprisingly tart at the start of each sip and lingering past the swallow. Wheat is quite noticeable giving a firm base, remaining grainy and somewhat sweet and wortlike. Mildly yeasty despite the filtration. A very robustly flavored wheat beer.

M - Tart up front and lingering creating a salivating effect after each swallow. Very fruity/banana'y/estery. Firm wheat base that is grainy and sweet. Carbonation is high and prickly as it should be.

O - Overall, a very good wheat beer. Difficult to find American versions with this much flavor intensity to them. Blindly, I would have guessed this was of German origin. Didn't have much for expectations when I bought this, but glad I did...will be going back for more. (1,337 characters)

Best by 18AUG2012 printed on bottom of can. 16oz can poured into a pint glass.

Pours a slightly cloudy but bright, golden yellowish orange. Odd description but it was tough to put it under one or the other. Usually with a some haze or cloudiness the beer will appear sort of dull but that's not the case here. A small head develops and sits as a thin off white foam cap. Slight, wispy lacing is left on the glass.

Nice banana and clove lead the way, reminiscent of a nice hefeweizen. There is a hint of some bready character as well as some yeasty qualities. There might be some lemon that comes on as the beer warms. Really nice nose, straightforward and simple, but well done.

The taste is a step up from the nose. The same banana and clove that were in the nose are prominent here as well. The banana provides a nice fruity flavor while the clove lends a nice spice note. Some straw and bready notes come through but the highlight of the beer is the finish. Some light lemon provides a slight, but excellent tartness that really brings the beer together.

Medium body with medium but soft carbonation. The beer is both smooth and crisp. Seems a bit contradictory but after the initial crispness the beer has a softer feel before a crisp tartness returns. Really nice.

This is an excellent beer. Well balanced between fruity, spicy, yeasty and tart. There really isn't a beer I can remember having that had all those qualities and did them that well. Very, very nice. (1,475 characters)

A: A surprisingly cloudy golden-orange pour. Big fluffy white head. Fades at a medium pace leaving etching all over the glass.

S: Tons and tons of banana, pear and melon with some wheat backing it up. Quite a bit of black pepper. Maybe a little clove?

T: Fruity up front with the banana and pear mainly (just hints of melon like honeydew). Turns wheaty with some cloves and a little bit of sweetness in the middle. Great wheaty finish with the lots of black pepper in lingering aftertaste.

M: Medium mouthfeel, very crisp and smooth and drinkable.

O: Wow this is a great one. Drinkability is off the scale. Goes down better than water, so smooth and crisp without being too thin and watery. I really enjoyed this one, top notch for the style - just a half a notch below Weihenstephaner in my opinion. (805 characters)

16 oz can poured into a weizen glass

A- A hazy straw color with two finger white head.

S- Banana, wheat, earthy spices, cloves, bubblegum, fruity.

T- Lemons around edges, beardy, earthy spices, colves, touch of banana.

M- Light to medium body, smooth, crisp, clean.

O- This the first Kristalweizen I have had and I really like it, very easy to drink. Can't wait to pick up more! (383 characters)

Poured from a 16-ounce can into a Relic Brewing Co. imperial nonic pint glass.

A: Somewhat hazy, golden orange color with great clarity and plenty of carbonation beneath a thin head of bone white foam that disappears quickly.

S: Funky wheat, lemony spices and herbal, grassy, citrus hops proceeded by lemon zest and minty gum.

T: Tart, sweet and juicy up front with plenty of fruity malt esters thrown in the mix. A tropical, peppery banana flavor grips around mid-palate before breaking with an herbal, tart and drying front of bubblegum esters. The finish is sweet and dry with a lingering hint of tart, lemon bitterness and a wheaty, yeast twang.

M: Light, crisp, flavorful and well-balanced with a dry, yet somewhat puckering tartness.

O: Hell of a quenching, tart summer weizen with plenty of balance, carbonation and light, fruity citrus flavors to keep you going. At 5.2% ABV, this packs a lot of flavor for a sessionable beer and I'd pack it in a cooler to and from the beach for sure. (998 characters)

Poured from a can into a true pint, the beer is a hazy, deep, honey-orange coloring with a thin film of head coating the surface. Steady, abundant flow of carbonation in the glass as you drink. Aromas of honey, citrus, banana, and clove spicing on a toasted wheat backbone. Flavors are light and very well blended, with a supersweet kick of floral and citrus tang at the end of the palate. Roasted backbone remains light, with toasty grains and banana blending together very nicely. Light and smooth in mouth, and the carbonation keeps things on the border of effervescent. Fruity combination on the aftertaste, with some berry notes joining the banana and citrus blending. Smooth, clean aftertaste that is a touchy frothy from the carbonation. Tasty brew, and extremely thirst quenching on a hot day. (801 characters)

Can't believe i have not tried this yet. I was so amped up from dark knight rises that i felt like tapping into this

A- a hazy glowing orange with the thinest layer of foam on the edges. A burst of color makes for an interesting look

S- massive tart and tangerine flavors with some banana flavors in the nose. Some sweet spicyness that is very impressive

T- amazing tart and sour flavors that are in ephinany for the flavor. Absolutely refreshing and slam dunkable

M- creamy, crisp, and dry

O- wow, where did this come from? What a brew. Great refreshing flavor with unique notes that are not always common in summer presentations of brew (644 characters)

A- the pour yields a straw yellow with very little head but a nice haze that I like to see in a weizen.

S- the aroma is spot on with most weizens, really traditional smell with a bit of hops and a great bannana, clove, wheatiness.

T- oh man, this is amazing. It takes the classic flavors I love in a great weizen- lemon, banana, wheat, clove- but adds a great citrus twang from an unexpected tartness.

O- I've never had a kristalweizen before so I don't know if they are typically tart, but the tart element was a surprise to me and it really put this beer over the top as one of my favorite summer beers I've ever had. (622 characters)

This one pours out a deep, dark yellow, almost but not quite amber, with a thick haze. It develops a very frothy white head that reaches two fingers and shows good retention after receding to one, where it remains the rest of the session. Mostly spotty lacing is left on the glass, but it's thick and heavy, not to mention plentiful.
The first time I had this beer, I was a little surprised to smell the banana and clove typical of particular German lagers, since it was initially miscategorized. As it is, it leaves no doubt as to the style. It's got a very nice aroma, at once light and yet with a certain strength, with the particular yeast making itself well known. Phenols are very pleasant, and a light sweetness to a very nice spiciness underneath adds depth. Wheat and a touch of lemon make for a well-rounded, balanced, and fairly complex beer.
The flavor follows suit with a bit of lemony fresh tartness coming out more strongly along with a green apple . The note along with the spiciness beneath a strong wheat foundation. Malts are a bit bready as well.
This beer is light and crisp and quite dry, though not entirely. It needs no more crispness in order to be as refreshing as it should be. It's not thin, with the light body actually quite deep. It's also smooth, with all the elements working together. (1,318 characters)

16 oz tall boy can, which is awesome for a holiday weekend. Only slightly hazy gold color. White head disappears fairly quickly.

Tart in the nose. A bright, citrusy character. A hint of banana esthers, with a very subtle clove feel.

Tart up front, and refreshing. A bit of citrus zest. A bright feel, with a hint of banana on the back end.

Light body with refreshing carbonation. Alcohol is no factor here. Bright citrus character makes this so refreshing on a summer day. I am usually not excited about a kristalweizen, but this changes my mind. (550 characters)

16 oz. can poured into a mug

a - slight haze with a golden appearance and a tight finger head

s - banana, banana, banana. hint of clove with some vanilla + citrus barely registering on the smell threshold.

t - the taste profile way softer than the smell would. much of the same banana, but more in balance with the malt and other flavors.

m - medium body with spritzy carbonation.

o - a nice kristalweizen. the softer flavors of the beer make it especially more quaffable as you're not hit in the head multiple times with the hefeweizen yeast flavors. rather you're given a gentle hint of them with every sip. (615 characters)

a: This pours a medium gold with moderate haze. The off-white head is short lived with big rocky bubbles.

s: A moderately-light clove and banana aroma dominates with a warm, spicy orange scent that makes me think of coriander. There is a soft wheat aroma as well.

t: There is a citrus tartness with a light sweetness and the balance being mildly tart. There is a spiciness as well as some wheat character. There is little bitterness and and hop flavor with a dry finish.

m: A medium-light body with some creaminess. The moderately-high carbonation seems to slightly dry the palate.

o: This is an easy to drink beer; I'm really enjoying the tartness and relatively dry finish along with the spicy and mildly fruit making this a great summer time beer. (757 characters)

16oz can into a pint (so what?) glass. Best by Aug. 18th 2012

A- Pours a golden-orange with an inch or so of white head. Leaves nice lacing.

S- Awesome fruity esters. Banana and orange mix with a presence of cinnamon, clove, and a good amount of bready yeast.

T- Big punch of banana and yeasty bread up front followed by waves of cinnamon and clove. Just a touch of bitterness (and tartness?) on the back end. This is a fantastic tasting beer.

M- The only shortcoming of this brew lies here. Extremely carbonated. So aggressive that it blasts the flavors off of my tongue too quickly for me to fully appreciate them.

O- I am going to be drinking this beer all Summer...especially between shipments of Dancin' Man. This is as close as I've encountered to replicating that flavor and I love it. Thanks for bringing this to the Midwest Sixpoint! (848 characters)

Pours a pale, hazy yellow almost green with a frothy white - little retention.

Smell lemon, sour, yeasty bread and banana.

A lovely apricot-hued beer; hazy, with a small, rapidly vanishing head and no lacing to speak of. Still looks very nice due to the appealing color. Aroma is pretty straightforward hefeweizen territory; grainy, wheat, hints of banana and clove, perhaps a touch of other tropical fruits and some light floral hops.

I found this beer to be particularly delicious. There's all of the standard weizen notes and it's very true to the style; but it's not a banana bomb, instead incorporating a variety of other subtle fruit flavors, most notably peach, and the spicy esters aren't too heavy handed. Light lemon tartness. Well balanced and tasty. Hop presence is minimal, as it should be.

Moderately light bodied with medium carbonation; very clean drinking and very refreshing on a hot afternoon on the back porch. Good stuff. (821 characters)

Picked up locally, enjoyed from a Weizen glass?

a - brew poured a murky yellow with an orange core and a few fingers of foamy head that evaporated almost instantly.

s - smells like a hefe. Orange peel and wheat with some sweetness.

t - big orange flavor tamed back only with wheaty sweetness and a pinch of earthy grassiness. Some banana in the mix as well to round it out. Not a huge fan of this style but this is quite tasty.

m - a bit more full bodied than I expected. Good carbonation. A little fizzy but appropriate for the style.

o - overall a nice rich and flavorful hefe that leads with oranges and nice sweetness. Great for this summery weather. One of the better hefes that I have had. Not grossly sweet. (719 characters)

Picked up a random can of this at Russel's in Amherst. Poured into my Duvel tulip.

A - Pours a nice hazy dark straw with a nice one finger white head that fades to leave spotty clouding and a nice foamy halo.

S - Nice light banana esters and wheat, some slight bubblegum. Very slight lemons and grains.

T - Wow, is this banana-y. Lots and lots of bananas, some light lemon, and slight grain with good yeast. The citrus is a nice touch but that banana comes back in the finish and lingers in the aftertaste.

M - Mouthfeel is really, really nice for a kristalweizen. Perfect amount of carbonation, super easy drinking. I guess my only nick would be its almost slightly too sweet and over ripe banana. Somewhat distracting.

O - Overall, I really, really enjoyed this beer from Sixpoint. I've liked pretty much every single can that my stores have been supplied with. A great summer beer full of freshing flavours. Well worth picking up a can. (945 characters)

A - straw/golden color that pours quite opaque for a Kristalweizen. Soft, small head.

S - Vibrant, orange and a little bit of mustard? Also a little musty barnyard as well

T- Really well balanced and smooth, peppery, light and refreshing.

M- Lots of yummy dextrins with a light smooth finish

O- I really enjoyed this beer, I had it after a long weekend on Sunday evening outside. Really well done (402 characters)
