Poured from a can into a New Belgium snifter. The pour is a hazy light orange with a nice fluffy head and good lacing. The nose gives you a good, hefty dose of fresh bread, butter, and bananas.

The beer is light to medium bodied with a nice firm mouthfeel. The flavor is outstanding. It is bready and sweet up front with nice biscuit flavors. At mid-palate tart banana and orange fruity notes come in and really refresh you. The slight acidic flavor from the fruit notes dry things up a bit on the finish, leaving you ready for more.

This is a delicious beer and possibly the best American version of this style I have ever had. It is smooth, refreshing, and damn drinkable. Moreover, I just love that tangy note on the finish. I have seen the future and in it, I have more of this stuff in my fridge waiting for a nice, hot day.

Very good!!! I was expecting the usual slightly watery, lemon zest-heavy beer. This one is true to style, featuring yeast and richness.

Pours a slightly hazy straw gold color into my Bud Select Pilsner glass. Big frothy head with good retention, scattered bits of lacing.

Smell of yeast and lemon zest, very pleasant...reminiscent of better hefeweizens.

Taste is top shelf, Belgian yeast, lemon zest, and a more subdued cloves and bubble gum thing going on. Very tasty.

Mouthfeel is rich and tart. Very nice and very refreshing. I could pound a bunch of these.

This one is a lot closer to German hefes/Kristalweizens than the standard American versions. Good flavors, right complexity...very good!!!

I have tried a bunch of Sixpoints and every one has been a surprise. Sixpoint ales seem to always be unique and very tastey.

Opening this you are greeted with a pungent, yeasty brew. Going for such a rich taste they could have easily messed up and gone too far, but it totally works. It has just the right wheat tartness to make it a really interesting beer.

Don't think that this is a light weight summer wheat. This is a serious beer. Like all other Apollos, this is one to have again and again.

A really nice summer beer, in a style I am not very familiar with, but to my taste, it seems to blend a hefeweizen and a wild yeast tinged saison almost. It's very refreshing and tasty, I'm actually surprised the reviews aren't higher, I wonder if people are expecting a hefe or a more tart beer than this is.

The color is a nice healthy orange with a bit of gold tinted on the edges and some nice lacing on the glass. There is some pretty present sediment in the glass too, which is cool, though I thought this style is filtered? The smell has a nice mix of pepper and clove with the banana and bready hefe notes. Some tartness and lemon in the nose as well, it's just fainter than I would have liked.

The taste has the smell but has a richness and crispness that is really nice, carbonation certainly there. Barnyard funk and tartness mixes well with wheat and banana like candy, almost like the laffy taffy banana with the sweetness. It's a nice tart and sweet mix.

Overall, I very much liked this beer and it was well worth the $10 for a 16oz 4 pack.

Appearance: Quite clear. Darker than I expected, but nice orange tones to the color.

Smell: Fruity esters for sure. Bananas.

Taste: Surprisingly sour! Caught me off guard at first as the sour flavors dominate the typical smooth and fruity wheat profile. But it's well balanced with the rest of the beer - by no means an intense sour ale. The play of the sour flavors with the yeast keeps the beer crisp and interesting throughout. Quite a unique and interesting take.

Overall, I appreciate the unique spin (though I don't really know what to expect from a Kristalweizen) on a summer beer to make a refreshing-but-intriguing beverage.

A: Pours a slightly hazy straw yellow color with a fingers worth of head

S: Yeasty, with banana, clove, and fruits. Simple, yet powerful

T: Follows the nose, tart with fruity yeast, banana and clove. Slight pepper. Finishes slightly sweeter, with the tartness fading

M: Light-medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Slightly chalky from the yeast, but much less than a hefe because of the filtered nature of this style

O: Wow. What a wonderful summer beer. Easy to drink, comes in a can, and is traditional. Can't beat it

eyes...
(although at this first moment I am enjoying the audible sizzle...)
bright white head fizzles into nothingness in a matter of moments, mostly clear with a hue of dark straw, very active carbonation rises up even though there is no head, on par for the style matey

nose...
big bready dry banana (yeah, all that and a bag of plantain chips), nice fruity esters and some bubble gum snap, wheat driven funkish notes that smack of euro tradition.. brooklyn ? nice!

taste etc...
as refreshing as a great soft drink... except better, lemony notes really tease the mouth, the carbonation makes this so easy to drink, the sensations are all at once here, a mouthful of all the flavors you would and should expect, the nose is strong but the flavors of wheat and banana are in balance here, the tinge of sourness really is just making this an all day sucker, this is very refreshing and will be in my go to box this spring/summer for sure.

verdict?
drinks a bit lighter than some straight up weiss beers, so a better option for a pool party etc.
this is very tasty but remains really light and drinkable.
the can is convenient... and a hit in this household this fine evening

Appearance: 3/4 inch head, orange brown in color, hazy, moderate carbonation

Smell: banana and clove

Taste: banana, clove, wheat and sugar at the end

Mouthfeel: moderate carbonation, medium-light bodied, sweet and smooth

Overall: An excellent summer beer. This is dangerously drinkable. Nice light, crisp, and sweet. I bought a four pack and will be looking to pick this up more over the summer.

Oversized can picked up in GCT, NYC.

Fizzy yellow, some white foam. Hazy. Smell is powerful banana/clove - like a hefe on steroids. Wheat throughout the nose and taste, and blended in with waves of citrus. The blend is near perfect.

Tasty, refreshing - this is an ideal summer beer I will be looking to pick up again before the season is over.

A: Pours a slightly hazy deep golden yellow to golden orange in color with some light amounts of visible carbonation. The beer has a finger tall white head that reduces to an extremely thin film covering the center of the beer with a thicker ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate to significant amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Strong aroma of banana and clove, as I would have expected for the style, along with some light hints of bubblegum along with light amounts of lemon citrus.

T: The flavor really follows the smell. There are light amounts of wheat in the background but int he foreground this beer is all banana and clove. Additionally there are some light hints of lemon citrus and a touch of a bubblegum flavor. Overall quite delicious with just enough complexity.

M: Medium bodied with moderate to heavy amounts of carbonation. Slightly creamy upfront and crisp throughout.

O: Extremely drinkable and very refreshing. I really enjoyed this beer and would be happy to have a couple of these in a sitting. I enjoyed the fact that the flavors and aromas were very true to the style.

Shared by BigSexy410. Thanks Ben.

The beer is golden colored with a small white head. The aroma offers wheat, bananas, grass, clove, light spice. Smells great. Smooth and easy to drink. Nice banana flavor throughout. Pretty well balanced and light on the palate. A solid example of the style. Recommended.

a - poured a one finger thick light tan head into a weizen glass that settled into a thin ring that disappeared pretty quickly. the body was a bright, light amber color that was slightly hazy.
s - clove, bubblegum, banana with some floral hops.
t - bubblegum, banana, clove with a spicy, somewhat tart citrus flavor.
m - slick and medium feel.
o - really good beer, only problem was the head retention.
