Yeah...nooo! This is not a good beer....or I got a bad can. The beer poured into a Weizen glass was cloudy gold with no carbonation. No head no anything. The smell reminded me of medicine and the tast was brutal. The mouthfeel was light with zero carbonation. Overall this a just not good.

Poured from a 16oz can into a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a light amber color, with a short white head that fades slowly and leaves a thin lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains wheat, light caramelized malts, citrus and some hops.

T: The taste starts out sweet with flavors of citrus and bananas. Then some bready flavors of wheat and a hearty but not too heavy malt character come in. The hops presence is mild but complementary and brings a very good balance. The after-taste is slightly sweet and slightly bready.

M: Crisp and very smooth, light-to-medium body, medium carbonation, finish is clean.

O: Very tasty, goes down quite easily, not too filling, mild kick, very good representation of style, this is a very good beer to pound down for a long time.

A - translucent golden yellow with a big fluffy white head. could be more clear... but that's semantics- you can see through it.

S - Clove, bubblegum (bazooka if you ask me ^^) sweet ripe banana scents.

T - Crisp, full-flavored, a hint of tartness (very light), clove, would have loved some more bubblegum flavors, but it is there along with the sweet banana.

M - med-light bodied, great carbonation... very smooth and easy to drink (all 4 in one sitting)

O - As i sit on a porch swing in rural PA across the street from a church that plays the national anthem everyday & contemplate our recent landing on Mars, I cant help but look down at this beautiful craft beer and think, "I am certainly satisfied"

16 Oz can poured into a tasting snifter

A- Pours slightly hazy golden yellow orange with a one finger white head. Large bubbles and quick dissipation.

S- Wheat and more wheat. Some berries. A little lemon zest. A spicy herbal note. Very crisp smelling. A little funky hops. Interesting smelling beer.

T- A big tartness up front, some bitterness and some sourness as well. Following flavors are wheat mostly. There is a lot of a lime character, maybe some under ripe berries. Sugary yet sour. Kind of grassy. Clean finish.

M- A lot of tart sourness in this beer which for me makes it rather slow to drink. It does have nice carbonation and a pretty good feel and smoothness. Nice finish.

O- I have never really had a beer like this. It does ooze with quality and classic German perfection but I cant say this is my style of choice. Worth a try and its always nice to try a new style.

Thanks to woodychandler for this one. Poured into 9oz pilsener glass. Poured a lightly hazy, bright golden yellow color with 3/4 of an inch of white head that had moderate retention and no lacing.

A pleasant clove aroma greeted the nose, under that was a nice base of wheat and grain, and a nice bit of yeast spice in the background. On the tongue, the aspects started out the same, with everything being a bit better defined, and also had a bit of a bubblegum. There was a bit of tartness on the finish that I wasn't expecting and was a nice touch.

The body was very nice, crisp and light, with the flavors lingering just a bit, but not enough to be annoying. Drinkability was very good, the 16oz can was gone too soon. Overall, a very nice brew. I generally tend to prefer Hefe's over Kristallweizens, but this is among my favorite examples. You should try this if you can.

Can't believe i have not tried this yet. I was so amped up from dark knight rises that i felt like tapping into this

A- a hazy glowing orange with the thinest layer of foam on the edges. A burst of color makes for an interesting look

S- massive tart and tangerine flavors with some banana flavors in the nose. Some sweet spicyness that is very impressive

T- amazing tart and sour flavors that are in ephinany for the flavor. Absolutely refreshing and slam dunkable

M- creamy, crisp, and dry

O- wow, where did this come from? What a brew. Great refreshing flavor with unique notes that are not always common in summer presentations of brew

A: Poured into a Hofbrau stein glass. Appears a hazy yellow with tinges of orange. The head grows immensely like a typical wheat beer but then recedes quickly down to nothing.

S: Grainy, with wheat, lemon and some subtle banana.

T: Starts off tart with grainy and lemony flavors, with a backdrop of hefe-like banana and clove flavors. Finishes with a wheaty twang and leaves some spicy and tart residuals in the crisp, dry finish.

M: Light to medium body with very fine, lively carbonation. Damn refreshing.

O: Never had a Kristalweizen before and man was I missing out. This is a tasty style and a good beer from a brewery that keeps moving up my list of favorites.

A really nice summer beer, in a style I am not very familiar with, but to my taste, it seems to blend a hefeweizen and a wild yeast tinged saison almost. It's very refreshing and tasty, I'm actually surprised the reviews aren't higher, I wonder if people are expecting a hefe or a more tart beer than this is.

The color is a nice healthy orange with a bit of gold tinted on the edges and some nice lacing on the glass. There is some pretty present sediment in the glass too, which is cool, though I thought this style is filtered? The smell has a nice mix of pepper and clove with the banana and bready hefe notes. Some tartness and lemon in the nose as well, it's just fainter than I would have liked.

The taste has the smell but has a richness and crispness that is really nice, carbonation certainly there. Barnyard funk and tartness mixes well with wheat and banana like candy, almost like the laffy taffy banana with the sweetness. It's a nice tart and sweet mix.

Overall, I very much liked this beer and it was well worth the $10 for a 16oz 4 pack.

I must be slipping! I CAN swear that I reviewed this at some point, but thanks to the diligent eye of JVHBass, I guess that I have not. New CANned Beer Sunday CANtinues, unabated.

From the CAN: "A something in a summer's Day/As slow her flambeaux burn away/Which solemnizes me. A something in a summer's noon-/A depth-an Azure-a perfume-Transcending ecstasy."; "Apollo is our summer wheat; a special tart and refreshing ray of illumination."

The first is a quote from Emily Dickinson's poem, "A something in a summer's Day" and if you think that I recognized it on my own, I must disavow you of such a notion. These guys are good and I often rely on yon Internet for help.

I needed no help with the Crack & Glug, not with a glass standing by. The finger of fizzy, bone-white head quickly wilted in the afternoon heat and became mere wisps. Color was a slightly hazy golden-yellow which was nice, but inappropriate for a Kristalweizen. Nose smelled strongly of oranges - Mandarin, Tangelo, Tangerines. Wow! Mouthfeel was medium with a definite initial tartness on the tongue, followed by flavors of orange. It was like a liquid orange Sweetart! The finish was dry, tangy, tart, definitely refreshing and especially on this summer's Day. I drank the heck out of this when it was first released, but just a couple at a time would be satiating.

Poured from a 16 oz. dated can: slightly hazy, golden orange with a sustained fluffy white head.

This one is quite aromatic with a strong and sweet banana aroma typical of an authentic German wheat.

The flavor has a solid yeasty and bready profile with very faint hints of clove and of course, the refreshing banana-like flavor. The bubble gum flavor is present but very subdued.

This has the mouthfeel of a nice German style wheat - medium bodied with very zesty carbonation with a somewhat tart aftertaste.

This was a good choice for an early hot August day. While it will not top the best German interpretations, it is very refreshing and has good complexity for the style. The low ABV makes this one sessionable.

A -pours a crsytal clear light colored gold. A froathy white head of foam bubbles and fizzes out quickly not even leaving a trace.

S - aroma is of medium intensity. Lots of banana and lemon zest esters and juicy fruit gum like phenolics. Underneath are toasty and grainy malt notes.

T - initialy its lemony acidity takes hold. Dominant feature on the palate nut notes of doughy bread and toasted grains lie underneath. Light hints of banana and some earthy spice hop character in the middle which ride out till the snappy finish.

M - creamy medium bodied. Medium carb.

O - interesting ale. Seems a bit out of balance though. Too much acidity. I would have liked a little less to let the spice and ester notes show through on the palate a bit more.

APPEARANCE: Pours an orange-yellow color with a bit of chill haze. The head stood about one finger tall following a medium-aggressive pour, but settled pretty fast. Very little in the way of head retention and/or lacing on this one.

AROMA: Clove, Banana, Fermented Peaches, Jasmine, Baby Powder, & Lavender.

TASTE: There’s a nice tart and fermented fruit flavor up front. The typical clove and banana flavors of a Hefeweizen start to surface about midway. The sourness creates a drying effect on the palate towards the back-end. There’s some lingering fruit flavor as well as some spices on the finish.

MOUTHFEEL: Medium body with a very soft carbonation with some nice drying and tart characteristics.

MOREY’S BOTTOM LINE: This is my first Kristalweizen, but it’s really just a filtered Hefeweizen, so the flavors are pretty similar. The mild, yet pleasant tart flavors really added to this one. It reminds me of a cross between Sierra Nevada Kellerweis & Dogfish Festina Peche. Good stuff.

The appearance is clear but slightly hazy in this sunshine colored beer. It lacks a quility head though, the one i got wasthin and soapy fading to a slight collar.
Aromas of wheat malts bananana and clove come through along with bubblegum.
Taste unfortunately comes through thin and weak and watery.

Poured out of a pint can into a wine glass, because dammit I don't have anything else. Has a one finger head that dissipates rather quick.

Appearance is nice---yellowish brown. 'Nuff said.

Smell is interesting. I get wheat, banana, a bit of lemon, and maybe grass? I don't know, I'm not a big fan of wheat beers. Leave me alone.

Taste is refreshingly good. I'm surprised that I like this. Huge hit of banana with a traditional wheat beer background. But wait...what's this tartness in the very back? I'm imagining it like a pretty, unknown woman calling me from the back of a big room, and I don't know her. All of a sudden, she's full-on sprinting toward me, screaming my name as she runs in her high heels like a linebacker towards me..and then I realize it's an old girlfriend from 4 years ago!! And she's still sprinting toward me! And I don't know what to do!! I certainly can't run away, because she's coming too fast--in her HIGH HEELS!! WHAT IS THIS?!?!

Oh, I'm still writing this review.

Mouthfeel is good. Carbonation is just right and is crisp and clean like it knows it should be.

Overall, a solid summertime beer. Seek this one out. It's worth it.

a: This pours a medium gold with moderate haze. The off-white head is short lived with big rocky bubbles.

s: A moderately-light clove and banana aroma dominates with a warm, spicy orange scent that makes me think of coriander. There is a soft wheat aroma as well.

t: There is a citrus tartness with a light sweetness and the balance being mildly tart. There is a spiciness as well as some wheat character. There is little bitterness and and hop flavor with a dry finish.

m: A medium-light body with some creaminess. The moderately-high carbonation seems to slightly dry the palate.

o: This is an easy to drink beer; I'm really enjoying the tartness and relatively dry finish along with the spicy and mildly fruit making this a great summer time beer.

Pours a bright golden color with a nice white head. The head dissipates a little but holds at about a one finger width.

The aroma is pure banana, clove and spice. A slight pepper smell creeps in.

The flavor is all banana with a creamy follow through. This beer is light and refreshing. A crisp mouthfeel accommodate this beer. The finish is great, a solid beer and possibly my summer beer of 2012.

I’m not a big fan of wheat beers, so it might not be fair for me to rate this one. This pours clear, and is inviting. Smells of banana and the other things that you usually find with beers of this style. I didn’t dislike it at all, but as I said, I’m not really a fan of the style, so there was nothing particularly distinguishing about this beer that would bring me back to it ahead of any other wheat beer.

Bright and clear golden color with a stark white contrasting white head.

Huge bready smell with lemon zest, banana, and clove.

Banana, clove, bread and a peppery spice finish.

Taste: A lot like what I expected from the smell. Light with some banana notes. There is a citrus like tartness to this beer that is quite summery. There is a slight herbal note along with the citrus and banana in the finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium body with very mild tingles of carbonation and a dry finish.

Overall: This is a very unique beer for me. I enjoyed the slight tartness along with the traditional hefe flavors. I would have another on a warm day.

16oz can into a Duvel tulip. Enjoyed side-by-side with Weihenstephaner Kristalweissbier in a battle for style domination.

A: The orange body is way too cloudy for the style, looking much more like a Hefe- than a Kristalweizen. Above is a finger of frothy off-white head that quickly dissipates into a thin ring. Compared to the crystal-clear body and majestic head of its German rival, this is nothing if not disappointing.

S: Powerful banana, floral spiciness, and some vanilla. Really different, and quite enjoyable. It's a bit heavier than the Weihenstephaner, but since it's a pleasant heaviness I don't really mind.

T: Opens with ripening banana, followed by a touch of spicy wheat, and closed out by ridiculously intense, pure banana. This seriously tastes like it was brewed with real bananas, especially on the aftertaste. I love it, but it's definitely a bit of a one-trick pony.

M: Medium-bodied with creamy carbonation. A bit sticky, but still great.

O: The bad appearance really turned me off to this one at first, and I'm a bit disappointed in its complete and utter lack of anything resembling complexity (especially compared to the remarkably complex, layered offering from Weihenstephan), but it's still a really tasty beer. I don't know that I'd want to drink more than one, given its heavy, insistent fruitiness, but it's a pleasure all the same.

Cheers!
