A: Pours a nice deep dark brown. Big fluffy light brown head. Head fades slowly, leaving moderate chunks of lacing here and there. Great retention.
S: Huh, it's a war between fresh roasted coffee beans and cocoa. Not sure who's winning, but I'm pretty certain it's me. Very inviting.
T: Wonderful coffee beans up front. Sweet chocolate joins it, giving it a wonderful mocha taste. Sweetness disappears in the finish, resulting in a bitter and sharp coffee and baker's chocolate flavor. Great contrast. Long lingering bitter coffee and chocolate between sips.
M: Nice medium body, not too heavy but it's got some weight.
O: A stout meant to highlight the coffee and chocolate flavors and it does it well. Delicious coffee and chocolate for that matter. Flavors are perfectly balanced and complementary as well. I really enjoyed this one even if it's a little bit of a one-note (two-note?) beer. My kind of notes though.
