Poured from the can a deep mahagony with well defined half finger light tan colored head,a little lighter in color than most I have had from the style.Aromas of dark roast coffee, bitter chocolate, and earth,it seems quite dry and no alcohol sweetness.Starts out with deep coffee roast with underlying unsweetened chocolate, mild molasses-like sweetness that quickly gets hit with a healthy dose of piney hops in the finish. This is a hopped up Baltic Porter, one of the dryer and complex of the style I have had,it's just a little sharp in the feel but this is pretty damn good.

Thanks to portia99 for this extra! Pours a dark brown out of the can, seemingly black once it gets huddled together in the glass. Dark beige/light tan head stays consistently thick and foamy on top of the beer while leaving only small bits of wet lacing on the glass. The aroma, of course, is very coffee-centric. It hits the nose more relaxed and sweet, rather than bold and bitter. It's quite a dense aroma - heavily packed with not much else around. A touch of alcohol can be detected alongside the coffee, but not much else.

This one is a little thinner on the palate than expected. It's got a nice coffee sweetness up front; again, dense in flavor and highly concentrated. Alcohol warmth is hand in hand without being too overpowering or scary. Some slight char notes hit about halfway through, which leads into an almost completely different profile. Out comes a delicate, roasted malt background with a nice helping of leafy hop bitterness that fades long into the aftertaste. Ashy and dry, the bitterness from the hops combine well with the roasted malts and coffee beans. This is one of those beers that starts off pretty sweet out of the gate, then gradients slowly into something that is actually a bit more bitter than expected. A nice little verse in table-turning - I like it.

Certainly not a bad beer at all. I've heard the price for this is around 13$ for a four pack of cans. A little on the high side, but it's not too bad. This is a good beer for those who like coffee, and roasted malty beers that have undeniable hop presence.

A: A very dark brown with good clarity and deep ruby highlights. The persistant head pour about a finger of creamy tan foam and settles to a thin cap after a minute.

S: Deep toast with chocolate and moderate plums. Moderate earthy hops aroma. A light coffee aroma.

T: A rich and moderately sweet Porter with a rich chocolate, cocoa flavor. A prominent roast flavor with some dark fruit flavors. A moderately-light hops bitterness. The balance is about even. The finish is medium with a rich roast, coffee chocolate aftertaste.

M: Creamy and smooth with a medium-heavy body and moderate carbonation.

O: It's chocolate rich and smooth.

On tap at When Pigs Fly. In a snifter the beer was a very dark brown color with a medium-sized cafe au lait head. There were sheets of lace.

Primarily coffee aroma, but also some chocolate.

Strong coffee/espresso taste. Dark chocolate. They complimented each other really well.

Great beer with real depth. The chocolate kept the coffee from being too bitter. Another one of those easy-drinking beers that you need to be careful of, given it's high ABV.

Skinny can with a freshness date on the bottom.

Nearly full on black, beautiful rings of lace on the glass. Big display of aromatics, bold roasted coffee, cacao nibs, black berries, mild charcoal and faint rose water. Semi-creamy fullish body, lots of backbone here. Rustic vibe, mellow overtones of chocolate with a lush brushing of coffee. Floral, clean alcohol, kiss of malt sweetness and a balanced hoppiness let the beans unleash their full complexities. At 10% you can feel the warmth but no heat at all, a pleasure to drink and it is obviously a sipper ... perfect portioned can.

Slim 12 ounce can from the boxed four pack. Best before dating on the bottom.

Pours darn near black. The head is mocha. The sheeting is extensive, high in the glass and quite fine. Nice looking beer.

Rich chocolate soaked nose.

Chocolate, coffee, vanilla, dark malts. Flavorful and very enjoyable dark stout porter. Smooth, refined and elegant sipper, with the its 10% nicely hidden. Well done. Another winner from Brooklyn's Sixpoint.

Is this a "one off", or will it be a regular in the Sixpoint line? I admit I am somewhat confused. Please make this fine beer often and in lage quantities.

Appearance: black in color, opaque, 1 inch head, moderate carbonation

Smell: cream, toffee, and coffee

Taste: caramel, charred roasted malt, black coffee, and cream at the end

Mouthfeel: rich, bitter with slight sweetness at the end, medium-heavy body, moderate carbonation

Overall: For a domestic Baltic porter, this is not bad. This has got a lot of the black coffee taste that I was expecting. This beer is rich and solid and a must for a coffee drinker. That said, I prefer my tea and while I am happy to have one, I think the four pack would be a bit much for me.
