Poured into an imperial pint glass. Color was a very dark maroonish-red, that verged on black, but not quite. A bit of translucency was evident. Tons of bubbles rising from the bottom, to a nice solid 2 finger thick head. Head was rich and thick, with a fair it of side cling. Aroma was a slightly sweet, chocolate smell, with a very small hint of acidic in the backend. Taste had both coffee and chocolate, without either overpowering the other or being the main focal point. The coffee notes kicked in first, with just a tab of bitterness, but then mellowed out and left a nice sweet cocoa flavor on the tongue. Coated the mouth extremely well, not overly bubbly with a bit of chew. Overall a very solid beer. Perhaps a bit expensive ($3.75 for the single can) but a very solid beer, right up my alley.
