I went here for Zwanze day yesterday and was blown out of the water. The atmosphere was phenomenal, service exceptional, and selection amazing. Kristina brought up some insane beer from downstairs, and I was able to purchase my fair share of fun stuff. One of the most memorable beer experiences of my life. You could feel the passion for craft beer at this establishment.
Met up with a fellow BA here to do an IP trade (got 2011 DL and KBS).
As stated in my other review, the day was a nasty thunderstorming Midwest experience. Despite this, the store was actually quite active. It is located on the corner of a nice residential area and by golly, I’d love to live there. The quality was top notch. I had heard this was the “place to get Cantillon”, however, as I’ve learned in the past week...no one freaking has this anymore (and if someone reads this and knows of a place that does, let me know! I’m just back from CA after three years and want my Cantillon fix). The service was good...bs’d with the two guys working. They knew a decent amount about craft beer so that’s always a plus. The selection was also pretty good – limited, but good. 3F, lots of JP (actually I think every JP that is not limited was there), lots of imports, etc. Currently drinking one of the beers I picked up there. The price was overall expected for the area. I see this has a really high rating, but to be perfectly honest, nothing here was “that” special or blew me away. I have hit up damn near 10 beer places since I’ve been home in the past week and I have seen more selection other places. Yes they have a great import section, but again, nothing that is crazy rare. As stated, I believe their name to fame was having tons of Cantillon, but they had zero when I was there. I may re-rate this in the future when/if they get stuff in, but as rarity goes, it was nothing to write home about.

In the past 2 weeks I had spent over $400 at this store & I loved everything about it...until today. Before I go into what happened today let me go back to my first visit a couple weeks ago. I was greeted by a girl who seemed slightly out of it but friendly. She pushed Three Floyd's on me despite the fact that I try to stay away from their hype. She wasn't very knowledgeable about the smaller batches & admitted that she hasn't tried much of what they had but she knew everyone loved (again) Three Floyd's.
(Moving forward to today)
I call the store to see if they will be getting in 2 different beers only to be greeted by the same girl & after asking about the brews she says, "who know....(moments of silence & says) there's so many beers out there". This girl is 100% useless & only goes off what she sees & isn't willing to find out what the customer is looking for.
That being said, I was at the store & a rep ran to the basement trying to find other brews that weren't on the floor that he thought I might enjoy.
So my final thoughts....
The young lady is a stoned hippy who runs with what most people ask for & the guys actually respect their customers. They have a huge selection of great beer that can only be found here! Don't go off the website because it doesn't show everything. You'll have to go in & see for yourself what an amazing assortment they truly have.
Again, if you run into a younger woman or if she answers the phone? Hang up & call back at a later time or just stay away from her. She'll talk your ear off about Three Floyd's & Three Floyd's only.

WLVL has a selection that is unmatched not only within the city, but in the world. Beers varying from a couple thousand feet to couple thousand miles from the store's front door make it impossible to leave without something you had no idea existed or was available. It offers the rare and regular beers from popular Goose Island, 3Floyds and Pipeworks locally but also has an imported selection that allows you to step into another world.
