Pours a medium dark brown color with a minimal head that lasts quite a while. Aroma of spices and lightly roasted malts. Taste is peppery. Crisp and dry.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy deep reddish copper/light brown color with a small dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of caramel, brown sugar, wheat, brown bread, toasted biscuit, and nuttiness; with lighter notes of chocolate, pepper, clove, fruitiness, and herbal/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt and light earthy hop/yeast ester notes; with solid strength. Taste of big caramel, brown sugar, wheat, brown bread, toasted biscuit, and nuttiness; with lighter notes of chocolate, pepper, clove, fruitiness, and herbal/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/spicy/roast bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, brown sugar, wheat, brown bread, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, light chocolate, and herbal/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance dark/bready malt and light earthy hop/yeast ester flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Slight dryness from bitter/spiciness as well. Light-medium carbonation and medium body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, and lightly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.2%. Overall this is a very good dark wheat ale style. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance dark/bready malt and light earthy hop/yeast ester flavors; very smooth and easy to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

One word AWESOME! Another in the line of great beers from Schmohz. I would like to see it on Tap year round. Schmohz provides a great line of specialty beers.

Looking froward to the next one

I had the chance to meet the brewer when I was there. Seems to be a "good guy" with great ideas.

a - looks more like a porter or a stout. Dark brown/black - not much head or any retention.

S - malty, roasted coffee, caramel

T - This tastes like a blend between a porter/stout and an oktoberfest. The major drawback is it is a little flat.
O - I love this style of beer and this is worth a try. Nothing that knocks your socks off, but a decent brew.

This Oktoberfest from Michigan poured with about one finger of a quickly diminishing off white head. There was no lacing, no sediment and it was a murky dark brown.

There was a very light hop aroma and a bready, toasty, caramel scent with a soapy smell fro the yeast.

The beer has a medium body, slick texture, and soft carbonation. The overall flavor was overly sour and acidic with a continued soapy aftertaste.

Not a great representative of the Oktoberfest style. The unpleasant acidity and sourness are characters I've found in other Oktoberfest Marzens before but not quite to this degree.

I'd look forward to tasting some other brews from this brewery to get a better sense of what they're about.

Schmohz Oktoberfest pours a dark and dingy brown color with a light tan head that disappears very quickly. The beer has a bit of a walnut cast to it and is slightly cloudy. Not surprising since the label says it is a dark wheat beer. The lacing, like the head retention, is very poor.

The aroma has a surprising amount of chocolate mixed in with the caramel and toffee. It also has some sweet bread aromas, but not much else.

The flavor is pretty disappointing. It lacks most of the nice chocolaty character and actually has quite a bit of sourness to it. This sourness really covers up most of the other flavors except for a slight graininess and some caramel. It’s a pretty odd flavor that does not taste like an infection, just tart. Perhaps it is from the wheat.

The body is medium and fairly watery. The carbonation is pretty low and the finish has a bit of a tart character to it.

Overall I found this to be a confusing beer and is not one I would want to pick up again. Some of my friends had tried this beer before and mentioned that it had a slight sourness, so I am not sold on infection being the reason for the odd taste. Overall a pretty poor beer.

A- Pours dark brown with haze. Formed almost no head and left no lacing.

S- Smells of wheat, malt, and sour fruitiness.

T- Starts with wheaty malt, touch of roast and coffee and finishes with a hint of sharp sourness.

M- Light in body with fairly high carbonation.

Overall I was not impressed with this beer. It did not meet any of my Octoberfest expectations.

This beer poured dark brwon in color, with a slight coudiness. This could have been from the colder serving tempurature as it dissipated a bit after sitting. The color was also a little darker that many Oktoberfests. I noticed a mild hoppy and grainy aroma on the quarter-inch head. The beer presents as a wheat in the mouth and has a slight chocolate-malt flavor in the taste profile. Unique twist on an Oktoberfest.

A- Darker wheat ale that pours a dark opaque with a 1" off white head.
S- A chocolate malt wheat smell of toasty, nutty bread.
T - Flavor of toasted bread with a slight fruitiness. A noble hop finish that after 1 or 2 tastes smooths out nicely.
M - A nice smooth butter feel that goes over the tounge nicely.
D - A nice flavor profile that is not a typical marzen but is much more delightful.

A- A cloudy, leathery brown beer with an almost non-existent white head that leaves a splotch in the middle and a ring on the outside.

S- Bready and slightly fruity. Simple and clean.

T- Same as the aroma, but even more bland. There is nothing wrong with it, but it is one of the most generic tasting beers I've had.

M- Lightly carbonated but smooth and clean. Missing something...

D- A boring beer but it goes down nicely. Hopefully other offerings from this brewery are a bit more exciting.
