Look is dark dark brown almost black.
When first poured, starts with an off white frothy head. Which dissapates to a thin rim on the outside of the glass.
No lacing but leaves an oily residue on the sides. Smells of raisins and light figs. A bit of roastiness and brown sugar. Taste is as follows but a bit more dry then expected. Strong malt and roasted barley. Hints of dark fruits as well. Small but lingering taste of honey and caramel with in the dark roasted robust malty-ness. Body is medium with a thin finish. Low carbonation. Sticky mouthfeel.
Excellent beer IMO

12 ounce bottle into snifter, no bottle dating. Pours nearly opaque dark brown color with a 2-3 finger dense and rocky khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a large cap that lasts. Dense soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toasted brown bread, chocolate, cocoa, and coffee; with lighter notes of molasses, nuttiness, raisin, plum, apple, herbal, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt and light fruity yeast/earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toasted brown bread, chocolate, cocoa, and coffee; with lighter notes of molasses, nuttiness, raisin, plum, apple, herbal, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal hop and roast bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toasted brown bread, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and light fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light dryness from bitterness/carbonation, lightly increasing through the glass. Medium-high carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready, and lightly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden, with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is nice old ale style. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and light fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink for the big ABV. Feels a bit too roasty for an Old ale; but is not to the point where it would feel like a stout. Could have used stronger dark fruit flavors also; but nicely enjoyable all around.

12 oz brown bottle - not dated
Schmohz Brewing Miracle off 28th Street Olde Ale poured an opaque dark brown almost black color into a tulip glass. A 1-finger bubbly khaki colored head was produced. After a few tastes, the head faded and some light lacing remained. The nose was of faint dark fruits and a hint of coffee - too subtle for my liking. The taste of roasted malts dominates with coffee and raisin notes. The bitterness seems to build as you consume it. The finish is a little dry and bitter for an old ale.
I am not real impressed with this old ale - there are many that are better.

12 oz bottle into a pint glass
Appearance- Deep brown, medium dark-tan head that fades slowly, some lacing on the side
Smell- Mostly getting raisins and roasted malt
Taste- Starts of with raisins and quickly taken over by the roasted malts. Has a bitter and slightly alcoholic finish.
Mouthfeel- Medium body and carbonation. A little sticky.
Overall- Not at all impressed with this one. I am usually a big fan of old ales but this one tasted more like a porter to me. The roasted malts dominate the taste along with notes of raisin and alcohol that don't add too positively. My first try from Schmohz, I would like to try another as I am a fan of Michigan brews.

Poured into a tulip; purchased about four months ago, but no bottle date.
A - Pours deep brown with a little more than one finger of tan head the settles to a quarter-inch cap.
S - Some raisin and slight sweetness, but mostly smells like a brown ale. Not very complex, but decent.
T - Taste initially has a bit of brown sugar and raisin, before turning to roasted and bread malts. The finish become dry with a bitterness that seems to build after swallowing. A bit too much bitterness. Doesn't really seem to fit the old ale category.
M - Medium mouthfeel, starts out sticky sweet, but the finish is very dry and bitter, unpleasantly so.
O - Starts out promising, if not to style, but the finish is a big let down.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a pint glass.
Dark brown body and a khaki colored head. Decent head retention. Smells roasty, like a dry stout. Judging, though by the taste, I would have guessed that the beers style is a roasty porter. I'm not sure why Schmohz calls this beer an old ale. Pretty tasty stuff, though. Drinkability is very high for the alleged abv.
